Radial or pincushion distortion problem of the wide angle charge-coupled device (CCD) camera is an important issue in the image calibration in case of close-up photography of real scene. We designed the auto-extraction method of the warping points in the calibration algorithm of the image acquired by the wide angle CCD camera. Proposed method extracts the distortion point by the wide angle CCD camera, using the threshold value of the histogram of the horizontal and vertical pixel lines. This processing step can be directly applied to the original image of the wide angle CCD camera output. Proposed method results are compared with hand-worked result image using the two wide angle CCD cameras having different angles (90° and 120°) with the difference value of the result images respectively. Experimental results show that proposed method can allocate the distortion-calibration constant of the wide angle CCD camera regardless of lens type, distortion shape and image type.

With the advent development in Ubiquitous Healthcare system it's becoming one of the emerging areas of research. Due to mobile, dynamic, unpredictable and heterogeneous environment of ubiquitous computing systems it's really hard to develop system software for ubiquitous computing. Primarily this middleware provide solutions to common tasks in ubiquitous computing, such as discovery, information processing, communication, synchronization, deployment, and group management etc. As we already implemented MUHIS (middleware for Ubiquitous Healthcare information system) in our previous work, here we try to build architecture for MedRec, the web application. To build architecture for MedRec which will play the key role in MUHIS we try used J2EE technology and XML language. After designing the architecture we also implement it on Personal Healthcare information system and test in various condition which show that MUHIS can fulfill all requirement which are needed from a middle interface. This work also illustrates the contents recommendation and control service agents with the property, operation, and task for the context-aware active services. Our proposed architecture will also provide diagnoses report to the doctors for further instructions. The diagnoses report will consist of healthcare data analysis results and history of patient. The creation of wireless sensor networks provides a capable solution for a range of ubiquitous information services. Its challenges like, data security and secrecy due to its hostile deployment nature of being flat to physical attacks with restricted source available. In order to competition the security pressure that sensor networks are exposed to, a cryptography algorithm is implemented at sensor nodes for node-to-node encryption, between nodes considering the data redundancy, energy constraint, and security requirement. In this paper, we analyze Dragon stream cipher and propose a new D-MAC secure data scheme which supports node-to-node encryption using Dragon based-privacy [3] for sensor networks. Our procedure regarded the entity verification and message authentication through the performance of authenticated encryption scheme in wireless sensor nodes. © 2009 ACM.

Infrastructure management (and its associated processes) is complex to understand, perform and thus, hard to make efficient and effective informed decisions. The management involves a multi-faceted operation that requires the most robust data fusion, visualization and decision making. In order to protect and build sustainable critical assets, we present our on-going multi-disciplinary large-scale project that establishes the Integrated Remote Sensing and Visualization (IRSV) system with a focus on supporting bridge structure inspection and management. This project involves specific expertise from civil engineers, computer scientists, geographers, and real-world practitioners from industry, local and federal government agencies. IRSV is being designed to accommodate the essential needs from the following aspects: 1) Better understanding and enforcement of complex inspection process that can bridge the gap between evidence gathering and decision making through the implementation of ontological knowledge engineering system;2) Aggregation, representation and fusion of complex multi-layered heterogeneous data (i.e. infrared imaging, aerial photos and ground-mounted LIDAR etc.) with domain application knowledge to support machine understandable recommendation system;3) Robust visualization techniques with large-scale analytical and interactive visualizations that support users' decision making;and 4) Integration of these needs through the flexible Service-oriented Architecture (SOA) framework to compose and provide services on-demand. IRSV is expected to serve as a management and data visualization tool for construction deliverable assurance and infrastructure monitoring both periodically (annually, monthly, even daily if needed) as well as after extreme events. © 2009 SPIE.

The capability to dynamically retrieve detailed multimedia which may come from knowledge bases as well as sensor information in response to specific user queries offers the potential to create decision support systems of unprecedented utility. Such systems can learn from user feedback;by minimizing the system training required of the knowledge engineer, we can more effectively process vast free-text databases of knowledge for minimal development cost. Furthermore, these bases may be concurrently created and maintained and search algorithms can run on parallel processors connected in heterogeneous distributed networks. This paper presents an approach to web searching using knowledge amplification by structured expert randomization platform. Creativity, training, and decision support via just-in-time knowledge are fused in a system that provides the intelligence analyst with critical information where and when it is needed and in a user-friendly format. In this paper, national security examples are selected;extension to a plethora of other domains for decision support and training is inevitable. Wavelet neural networks (WNN) have recently attracted great interest, because of their advantages over radial basis function networks (RBFN) as they are universal approximations. The integration of wavelet theory into soft computing, and combining the class of feedforward neural networks with results from the wavelet theory, new networks structure is proposed, called wavelet networks to approximate any non-linear function. In this paper, we propose a procedure that proves the ability of these networks to improve the performance of Vector Control scheme of Induction Motor. A Two Activation Function Wavelet network (TAFWN) is adopted as an alternative controller to achieve relatively more robustness than conventional feedforward neural networks (NNs). Finally, a simulation is carried out in order to validate the proposed model and demonstrate its efficiency with complex functions and high non-linearity. Simulation experimental results are reported, in fact, the obtained results prove that the objectives required by the authors were attempt with great success. Copyright © 2009 SoftMotor Ltd.

In this work we compare scheduling and coding strategies for a source node serving multiple multicast flows in a network. The coding strategy we consider is a form of random coding proposed in [6] and involves coding across flows, as treated in [2]. We show that there are configurations for which the coding strategy outperforms any scheduling strategy that uses channel state information. The model studied in this paper is a multicast version of the downlink model considered in [13]. Fixed-length data packets arrive randomly and independently to a set of multicast flows served by the source node. Each multicast flow is associated with a set of receivers. The channel between the source and each receiver is modeled as an independent packet erasure channel. We first consider the set of scheduling strategies that can observe queue lengths and channel states, and provide an upper bound on the achievable sum stable throughput over all scheduling strategies. We then consider a random linear coding strategy involving coding both within and between the multicast flows and provide a lower bound on the sum stable throughput achievable by this strategy. Our bound on the throughput for the coding strategy accounts for the overhead incurred by random coding. Finally, we show that there are instances for which the coding lower bound is strictly greater than the upper bound for scheduling. Our result provides a simple example demonstrating that the back-pressure algorithm [12], which is optimal for store-and-forward networks, can be inferior to a coding approach for multicast transmission. This work is an extension of our previous work in [1], where we compared round-robin scheduling to coding, considered coding across (but not within) multicast flows, and disregarded the coding overhead. ©2008 IEEE.

The RFID framework constructed by Reader, Transponder and Middleware system forms a new construction of future production line automation, material management and logistic industry. The EPC (Electronic Product Code) network, advocated by international organization, EPCglobal Inc., is the standard technology of RFID application. This paper proposes a cross layer design that applies an intelligent mobile purchasing system by combining RFID smart phone at Physical layer, transferring the RFID code into EPC network at Media Access Control Layer, gathering the EPC Domain information at Application Layer and establishing the secure EPC network framework with Product of Authority Server (PAS) network environment at Application Layer. By using the cross-layer approach, user can purchase through the smart phone with RFID Reader. Content Web Server and ODS Server are responsible for recording the commodity information by EPC Code. The commodity will be directly sent to user's home through the Object Tracing Function of Secure EPC network.

In order to increase node lifetime and system throughput, the topology of wireless Ad Hoc networks can be controlled by changing the transmission power at each node. In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient distributed topology- control algorithm, Varying Cone on Gabriel Graph (VCGG). By selecting logical neighbor nodes through deleting the far thest node, VCGG builds a degree-bounded, power spanner and planar sub-graph using the merits of a varying cone. The simulation results show that our proposed VCGG out- performs the existing S£GG and SYaoGG algorithms in terms of power efficiency, the number of communication neighbors and interference reduction. © Copyright 2008 ICST.
