Experience using constraint programming to solve real-life problems has shown that finding an efficient solution to the problem often requires experimentation with different constraint solvers or even building a problem-specific constraint solver. HAL is a new constraint logic programming language expressly designed to facilitate this process. It provides semi-optional type, mode and determinism declarations. These allow natural constraint specification by means of type overloading, better compile-time error checking and generation of more efficient run-time code. Importantly, it provides type classes which can be used to specify solver interfaces, allowing the constraint programmer to support modelling of a constraint problem independent of a particular solver, leading to easy "plug and play" experimentation with different solvers. Other interesting features include mutable global variables for implementing a constraint store, and dynamic scheduling and Constraint Handling Rules (CHRs) for combining, extending and writing new constraint solvers. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2002.

The recent emergence of wireless mesh networks as a quick and inexpensive way to access the Internet has gained attention in the networking field. While using multiple radios improves network throughput, it undermines TCP's underlying assumptions. When deployed in wireless mesh networks, TCP faces four challenges: transmission errors, packet reordering due to multipath routing, multihop connections and congestion. If not handled properly, they can incorrectly trigger TCP congestion control mechanisms and cause poor performance. In this paper, we propose a new TCP enhancement, named Congestion Coherence, to address these challenges. Simulation results confirm that this enhancement significantly improves TCP performance in wireless mesh networks. © 2007 IEEE.

Usually, in a group decision context, the importance level, confidence degree and amount of knowledge are very different among individuals. So, when all the individuals have to reach agreement, is quite important to model these kind of features in order to get more appropriate decisions. Last related works are focussed in the selection process to model the importance of the experts, but such approach, under some circumstances, can behave badly. In this contribution, we present a new adaptive consensus reaching model specifically designed to undertake group decision making situations in which the experts have different importance or confidence levels. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Advancement in Artificial Intelligence (AI) aims to train the Machine Learning (ML) Models in such a way that they would be able to take decisions spontaneously, however on the other side attackers attempt to manipulate the results generated by these models which makes the application of these models difficult in security-critical areas including classification of medical images, autonomous system installed in vehicles, street lights, malware detection and identification of a person as criminal or innocent. Advancement in research proved the vulnerability of these classifiers due to adversarial attacks that can alter their result in training as well as in testing phase of the model. Causative attacks are the training phase attacks whereas the attacks done at testing phase are the exploratory attacks. This systematic literature Review (SLR) is conducted to gain in-dept. knowledge of adversarial attacks, which is the most effective type of exploratory attack, parameters on which these attacks are based, along with the most conventional methods of generating adversarial attacks. © 2023 IEEE.

Recent advances in neuroscience have shown that the neuropathological disorders are closely related with diseases such as Alzheimer's. Those damages are particularly associated with the intermediate visual perceptual processing which can cause the motion perception defects and abnormal visuo-spatial functions in daily living of patients. In this paper, we propose a virtual reality based assessment tools for measuring human perceptual sensitivity to dynamic erroneous motions, particularly designed to assess possible early stage of brain damages and its associated visual dysfunctions. The proposed method contains multiple assessment layers to check the awareness of erroneous motion in natural scenes at various severities. Our VR based game type environment provides an effective test bed for various dynamic motion based perceptual sensitivity experiments. Our initial human subject tests show that game based test environment produces more coherent and consistent data, preferable to survey based methods. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

software Requirements engineering addresses specific challenges which exist in the effort to gain an understanding of the nature of the engineering problem arising from user's real-world needs and desires. This research is aimed at helping software analysts meet these challenges. The proposed methodology forms the basis of the automated process designed to capture the high-level system services and actors from the textual user requirements. This model is intended to serve as a basis for software Use-Case Model development, and can be used by analysts in their in-dept. study of requirements text. The approach is rooted in the syntactical analysis and formalization of text written in natural language, and it is enriched with domain-related information provided by the Expert Comparable Contextual (ECC) models that are extracted from reusable domain-specific data models. We illustrate the applicability of our methodology an order invoicing case study and demonstrate it with a prototype tool. The results of the validation of our methodology prove that such a tool for assisting the elicitation of use-case models from textual requirements is feasible.

An Efficient GPU-based Implementation for Noise Robust Sound Source Localization

Robot audition, encompassing Sound Source Localization (SSL), Sound Source Separation (SSS), and Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), enables robots and smart devices to acquire auditory capabilities similar to human hearing. Despite their wide applicability, processing multi-channel audio signals from microphone arrays in SSL involves computationally intensive matrix operations, which can hinder efficient deployment on Central Processing Units (CPUs), particularly in embedded systems with limited CPU resources. This paper introduces a GPU-based implementation of SSL for robot audition, utilizing the Generalized Singular Value Decomposition-based Multiple Signal Classification (GSVD-MUSIC), a noise-robust algorithm, within the HARK platform, an open-source software suite. For a 60-channel microphone array, the proposed implementation achieves significant performance improvements. On the Jetson AGX Orin, an embedded device powered by an NVIDIA GPU and ARM®Cortex™-A78AE v8.2 64-bit CPUs, we observe speedups of 4645.1× for GSVD calculations and 8.8× for the SSL module, while speedups of 2223.4× for GSVD calculation and 8.95× for the entire SSL module on a server configured with an NVIDIA A100 GPU and AMD EPYC™ 7352 CPUs, making real-time processing feasible for large-scale microphone arrays and providing ample capacity for real-time processing of potential subsequent machine learning or deep learning tasks. © 2025, CC BY-NC-ND.

Malicious software (Malware) applications in Android ecosystem is one of the critical issues. Manual detection of malware is not cost-effective and cannot keep up with the fast evolution of malware development in Android. A machine learning based malware detection has attempted to automate the detection of malware in Android. In this paper, we present new Android malware detection methods. The main idea of our proposed approach is to use three different feature selection methods before malware detection model using a machine learning algorithm is constructed. We used both Malware Genome Project dataset and our own crawled dataset to show the effectiveness of the proposed methods. © 2018 IEEE.

With the increasing prevalence of e-commerce plat-forms, understanding customer sentiments expressed in product reviews is crucial for assessing platform and product performance. However, traditional sentiment analysis (SA) models often struggle with low-resource languages such as Turkish, particularly due to the language's agglutinative nature and morphological complexity. To address this, several public datasets are now available online. However, these datasets are often annotated using rule-based methods, resulting in poor accuracy for Machine Learning (ML) models. This study addresses these challenges by employing two large Turkish datasets, TRSAv1 and VSCR, and improving their sentiment annotations through advanced Large Language Models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT4o-mini. The reannotation significantly enhanced the performance of traditional ML models-Logistic Regression, Naive Bayes, Random Forest, and Support Vector Machine-especially in the neutral and negative sentiment classes, as evidenced by increased precision, recall, and F1-scores. The findings underscore the importance of thorough data preparation and demonstrate that utilizing LLMs for sentiment annotation in Turkish can lead to more reliable SA, providing a stronger foundation for developing advanced SA tailored to low-resource languages. This study is the first to employ recent LLM for relabelling Turkish customer reviews, highlighting the potential for improved accuracy in SA for low-resource languages. © 2024 IEEE.
