With the increasing complexity of Cyber-Physical Systems, their behavior and decisions become increasingly difficult to understand and comprehend for users and other stakeholders. Our vision is to build self-explainable systems that can, at run-time, answer questions about the system's past, current, and future behavior. As hitherto no design methodology or reference framework exists for building such systems, we propose the Monitor, Analyze, Build, Explain (MAB-EX) framework for building self-explainable systems that leverage requirements- A nd explainability models at run-time. The basic idea of MAB-EX is to first Monitor and Analyze a certain behavior of a system, then Build an explanation from explanation models and convey this EXplanation in a suitable way to a stakeholder. We also take into account that new explanations can be learned, by updating the explanation models, should new and yet unexplainable behavior be detected by the system. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. The development and adopting of advanced communication technologies provide mobile users more convenience to connect any wireless network anytime and anywhere. Therefore, a large number of base stations (BS) are demanded keeping users connectivity, enhancing network capacity, and guarantee a sustained users Quality of Experiences (QoS). However, increasing the number of BS leads to an increase in the ecological ad radiation hazards. In order to green communication, many factors should be taken into consideration, i.e., saving energy, guarantee QoS, and reducing pollution hazards. Therefore, we propose tethered balloon technology that can replace a large number of BS and reduce ecological and radiation hazards due to its high altitude and feasible green and healthy broadband communication. The main contribution of this paper is to deploy tethered balloon technology at different altitude and measure the power density. Furthermore, we evaluate the measurement of power density from different height of tethered balloon comparison with traditional wireless communication technologies. The simulation results showed that tethered balloon technology can deliver green communication effectively and efficiently without any hazardous impacts. © 2019 IEEE.

Frameworks for querying databases using natural language: A literature review

A Natural Language Interface (NLI) facilitates users to pose queries to retrieve information from a database without using any artificial language such as the Structured Query Language (SQL). Several applications in various domains including healthcare, customer support and search engines, require elaborating structured data having information on text. Moreover, many issues have been explored including configuration complexity, processing of intensive algorithms, and popularity of relational databases, due to which translating natural language to database query has become a secondary area of investigation. The emerging trend of querying systems and speech-enabled interfaces revived natural language to database queries research area., The last survey published on this topic was six years ago in 2013. To best of our knowledge, there is no recent study found which discusses the current state of the art translations frameworks for natural language for structured and non-structured query languages. In this paper, we have reviewed 47 frameworks from 2008 to 2018. Out of 47, 35 were closely relevant to our work. SQL based frameworks have been categorized as statistical, symbolic and connectionist approaches. Whereas, NoSQL based frameworks have been categorized as semantic matching and pattern matching. These frameworks are then reviewed based on their supporting language, scheme of their heuristic rule, interoperability support, dataset scope and their overall performance score. The findings stated that 70% of the work in natural language to database querying has been carried out for SQL, and NoSQL share 15%, 10% and 5% of languages like SPAROL, CYPHER and GREMLIN respectively. In this perspective paper, we investigate the parallels between public policy and IT projects from the perspective of traditional RE practice. Using the mainstream media as an information source (as would an average citizen), over a period of approximately one year we captured documents that presented analyses of public policy issues. The documents were categorized into eight topic areas, then analyzed to identify patterns that RE practitioners would recognize. We found evidence of policy failures that parallel project failures traceable to requirements engineering problems. Our analysis revealed evidence of bias across all stakeholder groups, similar to the rise of the "beliefs over facts" phenomenon often associated with "fake news". We also found substantial evidence of unintended consequences due to inadequate problem scoping, terminology definition, domain knowledge, and stakeholder identification and engagement. Further, ideological motivations were found to affect constraint definitions resulting in solution spaces that may approach locally optimal but may not be globally optimal. Public policy addresses societal issues;our analysis supports our conclusion that RE techniques could be utilized to support policy creation and implementation. © 2018 SPIE. All rights reserved.

Imposter devices pose serious threats. The majority of low-cost edge devices can easily be counterfeited or cloned; the supply chain is insufficiently secure. Reliability of deployed devices can be called into question simply because they might be counterfeit or cloned. It is a must to identify edge devices' sourcing uniquely and verify their validity periodically at runtime. We integrate blockchain technology to authenticate resource-constrained, low-cost edge devices. We use SRAM-based physically unclonable functions (PUFs)to generate unique “digital fingerprints” (device IDs). Registered manufacturers upload a cryptographic hash of each device ID to a “globally accessible” blockchain instance (key-value store or smart contract). While registering/designating a device locally, the end-user verifies whether the hash is present in that blockchain. We utilize a “locally permissioned” blockchain infrastructure (which is still a globally managed blockchain or, in future, a sidechain)to authenticate edge devices for a defense-in-dept. approach. Devices can authenticated periodically to prevent device cloning. Target environments can be large and have varied trust among users and lack a specific perimeter; this “local” blockchain methodology is thus pertinent, especially since blockchains gain security over time. Our approach reduces the potential for classes of information leakage and types of sabotage in a critical infrastructure or large-scale deployment (such as a smart city)arising from imposter devices. This methodology protects against such imposters in mobile settings within an IoT infrastructure too.

Electronic Human Resource Management System (EHRMS) is a paperless-based system, which plays a vital role in facilitating organizational processes, overcoming all obstacles of a paper-based system, reducing cost, time, and efforts, enhancing the quality of services (QoS), and providing more accurate data. In addition, it is beneficial for competitive advantages and it eases the tasks of the HR managers to make decisions. In this paper, an efficient EHRMS is proposed, designed, and implemented. The system is called Enterprise Electronic University Human Resource Management System (EEUHRMS). The proposed system consists of fourteen modules that provide four groups of services. The first group is related to applicant services: Online Recruitment. The second group is related to staff services: Registration, Acknowledgements/Punishments, Annual Premium, Leaves, Leave Deduction, Archive, Dispatch, Extra Fees, Salary, and Service Summary. The third group is related to institutions and presidency services: Post and Statistics. While the fourth group is related to university services: Authentication and Statistics. The proposed system is evaluated by using the System Usability Scale (SUS) to get results via specific questionnaires that are checked by the university staff. The evaluation score of the questionnaire was about (85) which is considered a good result. The proposed system is developed using the Laravel framework.

The paper portrays novel enhanced image classification approach with fusion of Machine Learning Algorithms at Feature Level as well as Decision Level with help of Niblack Thresholding and Thepade's Sorted N-Ary Block Truncation Coding. The proposed fusion based image classification method is experimented with help of a database with total one thousand image samples covering ten assorted image categories with 100 images per category. Classification Accuracy is taken into account for the performance evaluation purpose of existing and the proposed Image Classification Technique. The results of experimental analysis explicitly reveal the performance improvement with proposed TSnBTC than Niblack thresholding, also the fusion of these two methods reveal further better performance with several Classifiers proving the worth of proposed fusion based image classification technique. Overall the higher classification accuracy is given by Random Forest immediately followed by ensemble of Random Forest with SVM. © 2018 IEEE.

This is a full paper in the Innovate Practice category. It reports experiences while teaching a largely online course about Machine Learning at two separate Universities. We targeted our course for a much wider than usual audience -- as “computer Science (CS) for All,” with undergraduate non-CS majors learning the same material alongside CS majors. We discuss why the majority of the students appreciated the flexibility of online classes designed for this wide group, and how they welcomed the opportunity to learn together about a “hot” topic such as Machine Learning. We explain our handling of challenges coordinating diverse and remote teams working with realistic big data of their own interest. Moreover, we describe how we engaged students in stimulating discussions about their readings and team projects, and how we balanced keeping everyone on the same pace while providing opportunities for learning ahead. Finally, we explain how we were able to attract the non-CS majors to take a CS special topics course and how we plan to use their constructive suggestions to improve future offerings of this course.

Mobile users and wireless devices are now the sources of a large volume of data. In such data-intensive mobile and wireless computing systems, delay-tolerant network (DTN) routing plays a critical role in data routing, dissemination, and collection. In this paper, we first introduce a new routing problem in DTNs - data-intensive routing - where data transmitted from one node to another is very large with respect to the size of data which can be transmitted in a single contact and available buffer size at relay nodes. In the proposed opportunistic path model, the contact frequency, contact duration, and buffer constraint are all integrated into a single routing metric. Then, we design the data-intensive routing (DIR) protocol where the path with the highest bottleneck link capacity is defined as the path weight. In addition, we propose the advanced DIR (A-DIR) protocol which focuses on the probability that the last message block will be delivered to its destination within the time constraint. Both the DIR and A-DIR protocols forward messages to better relays or to their destinations based on a greedy strategy with the proposed path metric. Simulations using real mobility traces demonstrate that the proposed DIR and A-DIR protocols achieve their design goals.

A Prediction of Grain Yield Based on Hybrid Intelligent Algorithm

The prediction is most important goals in economic quantitative studies, it basis in design and plan future economic policies properly process over forecasting accuracy. This paper is aiming at the problem salp swarm algorithm (SSA) for predicting grain yield is prone to fall into the local optimal problem. An improved SSA is proposed with combine with back propagation neural network. Using the different advantages of SSA algorithm in global search capabilities, combining the two for further optimize the weight, improve the accuracy and robustness of the grain yield prediction model. The specific implementation is selected from 1963 to 2013. These methods are used to define agricultural datasets that supports crop growth decision for grain product and its influencing factors were tested as a data set. The results show that, the improved salp swarm optimization can be classified as a good predict tool for the domestic food production trend in recent years compared with the SSA. This paper briefly introduces three artificial methods BP neural networks, SSA and improved SSA optimization algorithm. The natural behavior of salp, barrel-shaped plankton that are mostly water by weight optimization and combined with mixed-group of intelligent algorithm are simulated. The simulation results of grain production prediction illustrate that the predict precision of the improved SSA is much higher than of both conventional BPNN and SSA techniques and it's very efficient and practicable.
