This paper proposes an Ising machine-based hybrid optimization method to solve combinatorial optimization problems, which consists of an approximate formulation process, an annealing process with an Ising machine, and a correction process. The approximate formulation and correction aim to improve the performance of the Ising machine. Computational experiments were conducted on the multi-dimensional knapsack problem (MKP) using an Ising machine. We compare the results with those of the proposed method and the conventional method and demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. © 2025 IEEE.

The use of social media for analysing behaviours and trends of the public is a growing research area. In 2021, the #LAWAN social movement emerged in Malaysia as a result of discontentment of the people towards the government. This study intends to study and discover the public perception and sentiment towards the #LAWAN rally. The investigation also questions whether is the civil society supportive of such social movement and rally, especially when rally, protests and demonstration are traditionally and often seen as a negative and non-constructive approach in the country. Tweets with the hashtag #LAWAN over a day on and before the rally day on 31st July 2021 have been collected and analysed. Sentiment analysis helped to identify the public sentiments towards the rally, and topic modelling helped to discover common topics from the 5000+ tweets scrapped from the social media. © 2022 IEEE.

The identification and classification of different kinds of parasite eggs in microscopic samples represent a critical challenge in the field of Soil-transmitted helminth infection diagnosis. Traditional methods are often labor-intensive and time-consuming. The emergence of deep learning models has shown promising results in automating this process by extracting intricate features from complex images. This study aims to develop an automated system for accurately classifying parasite egg types in microscopic images by leveraging the ability of squeeze excitation layers to learn the global information from the input. The proposed system employs features extracted by ResNet50 and ResNet101 with Squeeze Excitation (SE) layers for analysis. The extracted features are then input into a Support Vector Classifier. The study systematically evaluates the features extracted from ResNet50+SE and ResNet101+SE. Results from the evaluation demonstrate the efficacy of the ResNet50+SE in accurately classifying parasite egg types in microscopic images with an accuracy of 0.94. The study provides valuable insights into the choice of squeeze-excitation block added Resnet in the context of parasitology, contributing to the advancement of automated medical image analysis. The findings hold great potential for improving diagnostic processes and supporting epidemiological studies through efficient and accurate parasite detection. © 2024 IEEE.

Using small cells to create an ultra-dense network for 5G and beyond is a promising strategy to improve network coverage, data demands and reduce latency. Despite using small cells, these dense wireless networks result in performance degradation and increased energy consumption. Energy consumption is a crucial parameter for sustainable future wireless networks. In order to improve quality of service (QoS) and Energy Efficiency (EE), efficient resource allocation strategies are required. This paper investigates a Parameterized Double Deep Q-Network (PDDQN) based framework for joint user association and power allocation to improve EE and throughput. Apart from other conventional machine learning approaches, considering single state space of the joint optimization problem, our proposed framework considers both discrete and continuous state spaces. Our proposed PDDQN technique also solves the generalization problem that occurs due to similar states. The simulation results indicate that the proposed work significantly improves energy EE and throughput in large-scale learning problems.

The edge computing layer in IoT reduces the flow of a massive amount of data directly to the cloud by processing some data in the local network. The middleware in the layer enables this processing of data and the communication between heterogeneous devices and services in the nearby layers. CORBA, which uses as a powerful middleware technology in developing middleware solutions in enterprise-level distributed applications, has been abandoned in the current generation. The paper presents the design, and the performance evaluation of a publisher-subscriber middleware implemented using CORBA that was studied when exploring the applicability of CORBA as an IoT edge computing middleware. The evaluation was continued in two steps to analyse several parallel connections (Load test) and handle requests in a unit time (burst test) via simulating an IoT environment in a cloud environment. © 2022 IEEE.

India’s air quality deteriorated significantly in 2023, ranking third worst globally, highlighting the urgency for effective monitoring and mitigation measures. To comprehend past trends and predict future patterns, historical air pollution data from seven urban areas in Chennai was analyzed using the XGBoost Algorithm. This study aims to gain insights into Chennai’s air quality, identify abnormalities, and issue timely warnings to the public and governing authorities. XGBoost was employed to forecast AQI, NO2, PM2.5, NOx, PM10, CO, SO2, NH3, and Ozone levels, outperforming traditional LSTM, Prophet, and ARIMA models. Evaluation using RMSE and MAE scores revealed XGBoost’s efficacy, with scores of 20.65 and 14.35, respectively. The research highlights regions like Alandur, Arumbakkam, and Manali with notable concentrations of contaminants, emphasizing the need for immediate action. These findings highlight the significance of utilizing advanced algorithms for accurate air quality forecasting and proactive pollution management.

Virtual Reality (VR) has emerged as a revolutionary technology with immense potential in transforming the landscape of education. digital watermarking of interactive media content has become an active experimentation field in recent years. In addition to reviewing some of the methods that have been developed for various media types;a general structure for watermark engrafting and identification is outlined. We highlight a few of these application-oriented differences, including copyright protection, substantiation, tamper identification, and data hiding, as well as the technological and system conditions for different media types such as digital photos, digital files, digital audio, and text. We describe a general structure for digital watermarking-based image copyright protection in this approach. In this paper, we outline the pre-processing and implementation of tide marking technique where Twofish algorithm and double encryption is described. The image processing toolbox is also specified by comparing five different image processing techniques. In addition, the post implementation is carried out with the wavelet toolbox and matlab coder to analyze signal, image properties and generate the efficient code for embedding the text. © 2024 IEEE.

Millions of visually impaired or blind individuals face difficulties when navigating independently. While the white cane has been a traditional tool for blind navigation, recent efforts have sought to enhance its capabilities with the integration of sensors. Although blind individuals possess keen haptic sensitivity, challenges arise when using the white cane outdoors. Therefore, this study aims to improve the independence of blind individuals during both indoor and outdoor navigation. The key components employed in this research include ultrasonic sensors, Arduino Nano, Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) Module, Global Positioning System (GPS) Module, among others. Testing of the developed electronic walking stick revealed that it not only facilitates a more convenient lifestyle for the blind or visually impaired but also serves as an alert system, notifying them of potential dangers..

The paper presents a simulation model of a hydraulic feed system with a differential cylinder, which allows you to explore the system and visually examine its operation. During the simulation, transient processes were obtained at various points of the hydraulic control system. The simulation results show the adequate operation of the system under study. The work is of interest to researchers and engineers in the field of building automatic hydraulic drive control systems. Also, the results obtained can be used for educational purposes. © 2023 IEEE.
