This research-to-practice WIP shares preliminary findings about faculty contributions to cultivating an inclusive culture for students from traditionally/ historically excluded groups within the STEM field. Faculty perspectives about STEM culture correlate to traditionally/historically excluded students' sense of belonging and retention in STEM disciplines [1]. As a result, the “chilly” climate in STEM decreases the sense of belonging in STEM for traditionally/historically excluded students' [2]. These findings from the study demonstrate faculty perception of inclusion and their perception of the inclusivity of STEM culture. STEM faculty have a substantial role in educating future professionals. The following research questions were used to guide the study: (1) How do faculty perceive STEM culture? (2) How do faculty describe the relationship between STEM culture and students' experiences? (3) What characteristics of STEM culture do faculty believe affect traditionally/historically excluded students' sense of belonging? The data shared in this article is derived from a larger study that used interviewers and group level assessment to explore STEM climate and culture at two white universities in a large city in the United States. Faculty represented in this study were in the Mathematics and Biomedical engineering departments. Findings demonstrated how faculty see STEM culture in colleges and universities, and its effect on traditionally excluded students and their sense of belonging. Faculty shared their experiences, opinions, and observations about how STEM culture creates barriers for students, such as a lack of representation, support, and sense of belonging. Moreover, faculty suggested strategies and approaches to promote a more inclusive environment for diverse students. Accurate diagnosis of glaucoma is crucial due to its high risk of blindness, but the long examination time often undermines the reliability of results by examinee's subjective factors. We propose a method to reduce examination time by generating static perimetry results with Conventional Fundus Images (CFIs) utilizing the CFI2GM technique, which leverages multimodal data. Based on data from 3,306 glaucoma patients at Samsung Medical Center in Seoul, we conducted ophthalmic image translation utilizing the Pix2Pix model. Our method, combining cGAN, L1, and SSIM loss, achieved MSE 57.9886 and PSNR 30.6057 dB. Furthermore, we received positive feedback from ophthalmologist regarding the high practical applicability of the images generated by our method. This indicates that CFI2GM can enhance the reliability of glaucoma examination results as well as reduce testing time. © 2024 IEEE.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are pivotal to the economy of many countries, including the United Kingdom. With the advent of digital technologies, the imperative of digital transformation has become increasingly salient for firms striving to retain competitiveness and relevance. However, SMEs lag behind larger organizations in adopting digital transformation, primarily due to the inadequacies of existing models tailored to the SME sector. Consequently, there is a palpable exigency for a pragmatic and tailored digital transformation framework specifically catered to SMEs operating in the UK. This research addresses this gap by proposing a practical digital transformation framework tailored to the unique characteristics and requirements of SMEs in the UK. Utilizing qualitative research methodologies within the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA model), existing research articles and digital transformation models have been meticulously evaluated to devise a novel framework. The resulting framework comprises six pivotal dimensions: strategy, organization, technology, innovation, culture, and change. It distinguishes itself by its adaptability, simplicity, and flexibility, allowing SMEs to tailor it according to their distinct business models and operational contexts. Despite the scarcity of literature on SME digital transformation in the UK, this research paper serves as a seminal contribution, addressing a critical gap and endowing SMEs with a pragmatic toolkit to navigate the complexities of digital transformation.

The article presents a simulation model of a pneumatic drive for electrodes of a stationary contact spot welding machine. Thanks to the developed model, it becomes possible to analyze the system, as well as visually study its operation. The result of modeling the system is the obtained transients of the elements of the pneumatic system. The developed simulation model adequately describes the state and behavior of a real system of pneumatic compression of electrodes. The work is of interest to pneumatic engineers, designers and other specialists working in the field of pneumatics and can be used for more accurate and efficient design, analysis and optimization of not only a specific system of pneumatic compression of electrodes, but also pneumatic systems in general. © 2023 IEEE.

The relentless advancement of Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) technology has stimulated research interest in exploiting its unique properties within the realm of network security. In conjunction with the maturity and growth of artificial intelligence, employing AI technology for SQL injection detection has evolved into an unalterable trend. This study introduces the application of an Improved Evolutionary Generative Adversarial Network (IE-GAN) for the synthesis of SQL injection attacks, thereby facilitating the generation of realistic SQL injection attack examples. Given the considerable threat posed by SQL injection attacks to the security of web applications, the demand for robust and efficient detection mechanisms has escalated significantly. Earlier research has made considerable progress in incorporating GANs in the field of *** study builds upon these achievements, utilizing a comprehensive dataset that includes both benign and malicious SQL queries. To ensure the efficiency of model training, these data are subjected to intricate preprocessing and vectorization processes, which are discussed in the paper in detail.

This research explores benefits, type of decisions and data management process of social data analytics within the Colombia context. Through a literature review, hypotheses are established. Then these hypotheses are validated through interviews with Colombian professionals, who provide their perspectives on how data analytics can enhance decision-making and how is the associated process made in the country. In this paper, multiple relay selection (MRS) schemes for untrusted unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-enabled networks are proposed. In this context, various machine learning (ML) models are employed to improve secrecy performance by optimally selecting multiple aerial relays from the available ones, all of which are regarded as untrusted. Notably, these ML models can cope with the quickly changing and random positioning of the aerial relays, effectively decoupling the intricate coupling relationship between the secrecy rate, channel coefficients, and inter-node distances. The results indicate that the ML-based MRS schemes obtain sufficient accuracy and better decoupling than a respective exhaustive searching (ES) approach, while also maintaining a lower computational complexity.

Customer reviews on online platforms have grown to become an important source of insight into a company's performance. Food delivery services (FDS) companies aim to effectively use customers' feedback to identify areas for improvement of customer satisfaction. Although Arabic is becoming one of the most widely used languages on the Internet, only a few studies have focused on Arabic sentiment analysis to date. The present study conducts an extensive emotion mining and sentiment analysis on FDS-related reviews in Arabic, exploiting natural language processing, and machine learning techniques to extract information that reflects customers' subjective viewpoints, recognize their feelings, and determine polarity in the FDS domain. This work begins with collecting the FDS dataset (Talabat), and then extracting and creating a dialects lexicon for Arabic dialects, followed by walking the reader through detailed steps of cleaning and pre-processing a manually annotated dataset. Finally, we examined classification algorithms including Decision Tree (DT), and Support Vector Machine (SVM). We achieved a maximum accuracy of about 82% using the SVM classifier. © 2023 IEEE.

In solving the problem of UAV task sequence conflict, this paper proposes a reassignment task sequence maintenance method. First, the composition of the task sequence is defined, and the maintenance mechanism of the task sequence is explained. Then, the CBBA algorithm is improved. By judging the consistency of the mission sequence of the platform, the task contribution degree is introduced, and the UAV with the least contribution degree is eliminated to achieve the goal. Finally, the feasibility of this method is verified by experiments. This mechanism can ensure the consistency between task sequences at most times, so as to ensure that different UAVs can obtain conflict-free task allocation schemes.

Path planning is the key technology in the entire unmanned system cooperative combat system, but most of the current research can only produce better planning results in the two-dimensional environment. The path planning in the three-dimensional environment still has low planning efficiency and poor planning results. This paper proposes an improved artificial potential field method, which is applied to the 3D environment path planning between cross-domain unmanned platforms. At the same time, it solves the shortcomings of the traditional artificial potential field method in the path planning of unmanned systems. Aiming at the problem of local minimum and unreachable target point, a new repulsion function and an adaptive repulsion parameter adjustment method are introduced, so that the unmanned platform can quickly leave the local minimum point, and the algorithm can overcome the problem of unreachable target points in the artificial potential field method. Aiming at network communication problems in engineering practice, a method of eliminating jitter and necessity detection is proposed, which eliminates redundant path points in path planning results. The experimental results prove that the improved artificial potential field method can overcome the problem of narrow channel jitter, local minimum value and target point inaccessibility, generate a smoother path, and significantly shorten the algorithm operation time.
