The purpose of this paper is to show how to identify and handle suspension system vibrations using two different control strategies: Sliding Mode control (SMC) and a Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller. A four-degree-of-freedom (4DOF) half-car suspension model is used. Suspension performance factors such as ride comfort, suspension deflection, and vehicle handling necessitate a thorough control system. This control system, which is carried out with the MATLAB application, is made up of three components: the controller, the suspension system model, and input signals (road profile and actuator force). The simulation results illustrate a comparison between the uncontrolled suspension system and the half-car active suspension system's PID and SMC controllers.

Model Predictive control of a Vehicle using Koopman Operator

This paper continues in the work from Cibulka et al. (2019) where a nonlinear vehicle model was approximated in a purely data-driven manner by a linear predictor of higher order, namely the Koopman operator. The vehicle system typically features a lot of nonlinearities such as rigid-body dynamics, coordinate system transformations and most importantly the tire. These nonlinearities are approximated in a predefined subset of the state-space by the linear Koopman operator and used for a linear Model Predictive control (MPC) design in the high-dimension state space where the nonlinear system dynamics evolve linearly. The result is a nonlinear MPC designed by linear methodologies. It is demonstrated that the Koopman-based controller is able to recover from a very unusual state of the vehicle where all the aforementioned nonlinearities are dominant. The controller is compared with a controller based on a classic local linearization and shortcomings of this approach are discussed.

Nature-based solutions (NBS) are actions to protect, sustainably manage, or restore natural ecosystems. They are increasingly recognized worldwide as a key strategy for sustainable development, integrating climate change adaptation and mitigation and biodiversity conservation. NBS is fundamental to the quality of life of residents, and urban planning often includes strategies that are directly or indirectly related to greening. Although numerous studies have been conducted to quantitatively evaluate the benefits of NBS, analysis of the potential effect of NBS remains insufficient. Therefore, we developed a spatial decision-making support model that optimizes the location of NBS on multiple effects (biomass density, urban heat stress mitigation, and landscape connectivity) using a Non-Sorting dominated Genetic Algorithm-II (NSGA-II). Potential was assessed by comparing the NBS plan considering co-benefits with NBS strategy scenarios focused on individual objectives connectivity, biomass density, heat stress based scenario(CBS, BBS, and HBS). The model was applied to Suwon City, South Korea, demonstrating the potential of an integrated approach to maximize co-benefits simultaneously. The analysis revealed a trade-off between NBS benefits and implementation costs, with performance improvement in one objective often leading to decreased performance in others. Correlation analysis revealed significant positive correlations among the three objectives, with heat stress showing the lowest correlation. Simulations under four distinct scenarios highlighted the diverse potential arrangements of NBS and their effects. An integrated strategy demonstrated a consistently high overall value (a 221% improvement), which proved to be the most efficient approach when considering all aspects collectively. This study underscores the potential benefits of integrating multiple objectives into urban green space planning, thereby providing valuable insights for sustainable urban development.

In this study, following the concept of set-based design, after preparing global calculation results, we introduced the approach of setting the design solution area that satisfies the product performance goals of the system design. In this approach, from the viewpoint of considering uncertainty, we aimed to develop an analysis method that can get the organic relationship between target variables and design variables. And more, under the assumption that it is difficult to comprehend the full picture of products that are becoming more sophisticated and complex with the knowledge that has been fostered by skilled engineers, the proposed system uses the objective calculation indices that is provided knowledge of the designer. Specifically, the following method are proposed to solve the problem. - Implementation of meta-modeling of design space. - Classified solution space using a density-based clustering method to detect that the solution spaces are divided into multiple disconnected space. - Defined an index called distribution concentration and expressed the possibility of dealing with the uncertainty of the solution domain. - The network diagram based on the calculated index values was proposed to confirm the change in the characteristics of the solution space when the performance target of the product was changed. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method was verified by applying it to actual simulation results. © 2020 American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). All rights reserved.

Food wastage dew to spoilage is one of the key global problems, the quantity of food loses and spoilage per year is 40-50% for root crops, fruits, and vegetables. This paper proposes an edge IoT machine learning based approach for food quality monitoring. The need for this type of system is to correctly classify the vegetables and fruits in three categories fresh, semi-fresh spoiled, further to alert about environmental conditions, either it's favorable or not using the expert algorithm developed under particular standard environmental data. The proposed system employed with Raspberry Pi as the main processing unit, temperature humidity sensors along with three VoC gas sensors. To classify the vegetable and fruit, the sensed data (Gas Sensors MQ2, MQ3 MQ9 along with humidity temperature sensor) were collected over a week machine learning models Logistic Regression, Linear SVC, rbf SVM Classifier, Random Forest with the accuracy of 99.1%, 99.9%, 99.96% 99.96% respectively have been used to classify the data. Further, the classified and processed result was uploaded on the firebase cloud to make it possible to be monitored from anywhere in the world using a particular developed android application. The uniqueness of the system is, it uses edge IoT and its software is programmable so that it can be used to preserve any type of food items by just filling up some credentials in the settings section of GUI. © 2020 IEEE.

Background/Objectives: Nuclear power generator has supplied a large capacity power and operated to low CO2emission. Methods/Statistical analysis: Nuclear power generation supplies a constant power for safety reasons in the power system. However, it could be operated an acceptable performance range for the control of generator considering nuclear safety. This study has been evaluated power frequency fluctuation limits by applying N-2 generator contingency, in consideration of the safety of the power *** load variation pattern was analyzed of nuclear power by using power system prediction data of 2024. Findings: The frequency recovery of the power system reference for stable system operation reduces the frequency fluctuation by securing reserve power of the *** paper has been used the power control by using governor control of the *** results has showed that using the governor load follow-up function of a nuclear power generator can reduce the frequency drop width by providing an immediate response reserve for the expected maximum emergencies. It was also more economical than hydro-dynamic operation for instantaneous response *** this paper, analysis has been performed using commercial power system analysis program. Improvements/Applications: It was possible to obtain cost-effective results than the hydro-generator operation of the momentary reactive reserve for conventional governor droop control. Nuclear power could be controlled by various operating methods, and could be used as friendly environment energy through reduction of CO2 in the environment *** is proposed as a viable alternative to prepare for climate change and promote energy independence. © 2019 Mattingley Publishing. Diabetics type1 have been helped by 'Artificial Pancreas'(AP), which is known as a closed loop control of blood sugar regulation in diabetes. It is a system that joins blood glucose checking through a glucose sensor to check blood sugar in vivo, insulin pump and calculation unit to enumerate insulin dosage and amount according to blood glucose measure pump control unit based on the results of enumeration. There is a necessity to put an optimal control which can keep up with sudden change for (T1D), finds better following personification for glucose, and maintain the glucose level within the natural zone (between 70mg/dl and 120mg/dl). In this paper, a state feedback control method based on 'Linear Quadratic - Servo'(LQ-S) has been proposed. A Kalman Filter (KF) has been used to provide necessary estimates of states to be implemented by the LQ-S design. Simulation results show considerable improvements of the AP performance using the developed controller as compared with that of a conventional PID controller. © 2019 IEEE.

Stereo vision 3D reconstruction using keypoints matching methods can bring up problems, such as uneven distribution of points, or even mismatches. To solve the problems, we proposed a novel stereo vision 3D reconstruction algorithm based on template matching. First, considering that the similarity between left and right image of binocular camera can be high, template matching can be brought in to minify the searching range of every keypoint, thus enhance the accuracy of matches and make the reconstruction result more complete. The specific process of the proposed method includes the following steps: templates extraction, keypoint density index calculation, template matching, keypoint matching within template matched areas, point cloud generation, and point cloud stitching. Furthermore, a simulation environment was built up in Gazebo, and 3D reconstruction was carried out using the proposed method. Comparison experiment was carried out using brute force keypoint matching method and FLANN. Simulation results showed that the proposed method performed better and improved in both utilization of keypoints and reconstruction result.

The main goal of eNeuron H2020 project (Nov 2020-Oct. 2024, ID: 957779) is to develop innovative tools for the optimal design and operation of local energy communities, integrating distributed energy resources and multiple energy carriers at different scales. This paper presents a review study of the enabling conditions for the deployment of integrated local energy communities (ILECs) in Europe, performed within the project. The enabling conditions are addressed by defining the key actors and their interests in the implementation of an energy community at local level and through a detailed mapping of the enabling and emerging energy and information and communication technologies at both household and community levels. Special focus is also on mapping of the demand-side flexibility technologies to understand the benefits of local flexibility and impacts on the larger systems. In such analysis, the key issues for implementation and adaptation of this new energy paradigm are investigated through covering technological, socio-economic, environmental, and regulatory aspects.

Quadcopter is an unmanned aircraft that could be used as an image recorder at various view angle that can't be placed by a human. This research is done to planning, building and implement a quadcopter that is equipped with a camera. Then, we apply for a tracking object program in the quadcopter which is called image processing. Therefore, this research begins by designing the mechanical and electrical of the quadcopter. While the designing of the software is done by making image processing program using C++. Data collection is done by testing the device in each section. Based on the result of research and testing, the result shows that quadcopter could follow a straight moving human, then it turns 90 to right as far as 10 meters. But, there are any movements that we did not expect before, which is in the altitude of the quadcopter, it because of the instability of the loiter flight mode. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
