The paper suggests to apply a neuro-fuzzy controller in 5G heterogeneous networks in order to improve the handover process. The architecture of the controller as well as input and output variables have been elaborated. A rule base and mathematical models of the controller has been considered. The efficiency of the proposed handover neuro-fuzzy controller has been checked by performing the computer simulation. © 2019 IEEE.

The estimation of unobservable states of a process is important when using control techniques that assume, said a priori, known values. The controllers based on the state space present good behavior and efficiency, even when the dynamics of the process are non-linear. One of the processes with non-linear dynamics and in which not all the states are observable is the case of parabolic trough solar plants. In this work an observer is presented, based on a fuzzy inference system, for the estimation of the temperature profiles of the loops that make up the solar field. This is a English translation of an earlier work presented in the XXXIX Spanish workshop in Automatic control [15]. © 2019 IEEE.

The commutation failures seriously threaten the safe operation of hybrid AC/DC grid. Considering that commutation failure occurs only on the inverter side, it is very important to study the voltage controlled current source model of LCC HVDC single terminal measurement information with high equivalent accuracy, which is very important for the practicality of real-time electromagnetic transient simulation of LCC HVDC dynamic phasor model. In order to this problem, this paper further discusses the single terminal equivalent model of LCC HVDC system which does not depend on the measurement information of DC sending end AC system, and explores the estimation method of single terminal fast transient response of complex AC/DC coupling faults induced by AC side fault of LCC HVDC inverter station and participation of DC control separation. The error distribution of single terminal equivalent calculation is quantitatively analyzed to lay a foundation for the follow-up protection and control technology research. © 2020 IEEE.

Spectral measurements provide valuable information on the electronic states and crystal structures of materials. In particular, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) can facilitate analysis of the chemical bond state of material surfaces. In the analysis of XPS spectra, the spectrum to be measured is typically compared to a reference spectrum measured on a known single-phase sample. Therefore, establishing a reference spectral database is imperative. In this study, round-robin tests of XPS spectra are performed with the aim of obtaining recommended XPS reference spectra and experimental procedures, including preprocessing. Determining the variations in peak structures between instrument- and sample-derived spectral shapes, and quantitatively discussing them in round-robin tests of XPS spectra are challenging. Therefore, an analysis method that automatically determines the above mentioned variations and extracts the samplederived common spectral structures is developed. Decision-makers often encounter the challenge of efficient long-term ecological planning to consider economic and environmental trade-offs. However, tools to support stepwise mitigation strategies that account for dynamic ecological responses to continuing urban development are limited. Therefore, we developed a sequential action-based dynamic decision-making model to simulate stepwise mitigation measures in space over time using a multi-objective optimization algorithm. We focused on exploring the ecological corridors and habitat creation as mitigation measures through four decades to identify trade-offs and optimal plans that minimize landscape connectivity and edge density as ecological responses to urban development and minimize implementation costs per action. The results showed that adopting an initial low-investment strategy with sequential planning significantly enhanced potential ecological benefits beyond the 2000s compared with one-action planning. In contrast, the initial high-cost investment exhibited a gradual decline in the ecological benefits over time from 1995. The initial low-cost investment presented an opportunity to enhance ecological benefits by implementing early mitigation measures in locations capable of sustaining long-term ecological functions. The results suggest that sequential planning offers valuable insights into effective urban ecological planning by analyzing time-series data. This study enables step-by-step scenario testing, thereby supporting the facilitation of urban and regional sustainability planning. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, an adaptive sliding mode (ASMC) controller designed for a multi-inputs and multi-outputs (MIMO) robotic arm nonlinear manipulator system. The controller is designed based on Lyapunov theorem to achieve a robust trajectory tracking taking into consideration the system's uncertainties in addition to reducing the effect of chattering problem associated with the traditional sliding mode control. It's found that, even in the presence of the parameters' uncertainties, the performance of the proposed controller for the trajectory tracking is robust. Furthermore, chattering is significantly reduced. © 2019 IEEE.

With the rapid development of wind power in China, large-scale wind power transmission is inevitable. Wind energy is volatile and intermittent, and can not be transported separately over long distances. The bundling of wind power and thermal power has become a research direction of widespread concern. This paper firstly introduces a large-scale wind power plant connected with large capacity thermal power plant in North China, and establishes an equivalent model through PSCAD/EMTDC. Then, for the equivalent model, the risk of sub-synchronous oscillation (SSO) is analyzed by using time-domain simulation. The results indicate that the SSO is possible if the wind turbine converter control parameters are unreasonable and the transmission system is connected to a weak AC system, which can increase the oscillation of the thermal generator. Furthermore, a monitoring method of SSO for large-scale wind power connected with large capacity thermal power plant is proposed. The effectiveness of the method is verified by electromagnetic transient simulation.

For many dynamical systems it is required to specifically shift individual poles, especially when these poles are lightly damped or even unstable. To achieve that, a preferably large number of effectors and measurements are installed leading to multivariable control problems. In this paper, a novel control approach is presented for placing either a single pole or a conjugate complex pole pair at a predefined location using rank-one static output feedback. Rank-one feedback can be interpreted as blending inputs and outputs to define a single input and single output loop with a desirable root locus along which the pole is moved. The corresponding controller synthesis is reduced to an unconstrained optimization problem in a single variable that aims at minimizing the feedback gain. Although the approach is derived for a single pole or conjugate complex pole pair, it is easily extended to multiple poles. To this end, a repeated design and superposition of rank-one feedback gains is proposed. It is further shown how residual system dynamics as well as subsequently designed gains can be efficiently decoupled from each other in order to avoid undesired interactions and spillover effects. The effectiveness of the proposed control approach is demonstrated by means of a numerical example.

For some biotechnological technologies, there is a problem of separating living cells or destroying their membranes in order to obtain individual elements of the inner structure of the cell. This is usually done using microsurgical operations. In practice, the method of obtaining individual cell fragments without surgery using an acoustic wave is of interest. In this paper, a mathematical model and the results of modeling the process of the formation of an acoustic pressure wave in a liquid biological solution for the destruction of the membrane of a biological object is considered. © 2019 IEEE.

Patents serve as valuable indicators of innovation and provide insights into the spaces of innovation and venture formation within geographic regions. In this study, we utilise patent data to examine the dynamics of innovation and venture formation in the biotech sector across the United Kingdom (UK). By analysing patents, we identify key regions that drive biotech innovation in the UK. Our findings highlight the crucial role of biotech incubators in facilitating knowledge exchange between scientific research and industry. However, we observe that the incubators themselves do not significantly contribute to the diversity of innovations which might be due to the underlying effect of geographic proximity on the influences and impact of the patents. These insights contribute to our understanding of the historical development and future prospects of the biotech sector in the UK, emphasising the importance of promoting innovation diversity and fostering inclusive enterprise for achieving equitable economic growth. © 2023, CC BY.
