This paper presents microwave sensor system for moisture content measurement of paddy in hopper silo. The sensor utilizes near-field transmission measurement technique operating at 400-500-MHz implemented by using double dipole antenna fabricated on FR-4 substrate. This proposed system is installed at the bottom of the hopper silo to collect moisture content. The moister contents of paddy in hopper silo from 12%-30% are measured and characterized. The extracted moisture contents from the sensors in this paper show an agreement of higher than 93% as compared with the commercial instrument in rice mill. In the system testing, the detection system is installed besides the silo 50 ton. IoT system was used to collect the result such as moisture and temperature of the system. © 2019 IEEE.

The paper discusses fuzzy comparison matrices, consistency check, weight prioritization methods and weight evaluation methods in fuzzy group analytic hierarchy process. There are various methods of weight prioritization, however, they are not critically evaluated. In the paper, two measures are introduced for the evaluation of the group weights. Then, a new method is proposed to improve the process of deriving weights and use it in an application compared to another common three methods. Our results show that the new method is a good method for deriving weights of indexes.

Water demand prediction is the key link for the effective operation of urban intelligent water supply system. Since the non-linearity and complex variability of water consumption, it is difficult for traditional water demand prediction models to guarantee high accuracy for a long period. Different holiday types and even tiny changes in temperatures can affect urban water demand seriously. This paper proposes a Stacking-based hybrid model which integrates multi-correction mechanisms to address these problems. A better stacking model is proposed to minimize the generalization error. The stability and reliability of predictions are improved through the design of multi-correction mechanisms such as high temperature weather compensation feature, holiday-type correction model and water quantity fluctuation correction model. Comparing different models before and after stacking also before and after correcting, the prediction accuracy of the proposed hybrid model is much higher and the predictions are more stable and reliable.

Smart building integrated microgrid development shows attractive progress in research and application. Related structures of smart building and microgrid growth are more and more complex that requires sophisticated modeling methods. This situation may not simple, nonlinear, and distributed so difficult to obtain a related model analytically. This is an opportunity for researchers to develop a dynamic model from a data-driven modeling perspective. This paper aims to conduct a literature review and application study to map the potential and challenges of developing the Hammerstein and Wiener structure in complex and nonlinear systems modeling, as well as smart building integrated microgrid.

Simulation of energy resonant tunneling in short-period superlattice (Ga,Mn)As/GaAs quantum wells

In this study, we have applied the numerical simulation and the mathematical analysis to study the resonant tunneling in the case of the existing barriers of electromagnetic material in a superlattice and the effect of the spinning on the energy resonant tunnel. We investigated the tunneling and resonant tunnel in (Ga, Mn)As/GaAs structure of the electron spinning through the superlattice. we found that the levels of resonance are formed inside the barriers and dependence the resonant tunnel for the electron on the spinning up or down of the magnetic materials barriers and lead to the formation of minibands that cause the tunnel phenomenon. We found that symmetry on the long direction of wavefunction growth provides an appropriate wavenumber, as well as the weak coupling between the adjacent wells leading to the formation of so narrow minibands in comparison with the frequency band for the traditional semiconductors. It also turned out that the unit binary class cell specifies the width of the minibands while the potential barriers which depend on spinning lead to the division. In our study, we found that the right choice of the magnetic insulator layers and the layers of the semiconductor enables the lowest minibands to decompose and be divided into two spherical minibands. We Found The maximum transmission coefficient T(E) at energy 0.27 eV for up spin and 0.42eV for a down spin.

It is a matter of fact that Europe is facing more and more crucial challenges regarding health and social care due to the demographic change and the current economic context. The recent COVID-19 pandemic has stressed this situation even further, thus highlighting the need for taking action. Active and Assisted Living (AAL) technologies come as a viable approach to help facing these challenges, thanks to the high potential they have in enabling remote care and support. Broadly speaking, AAL can be referred to as the use of innovative and advanced Information and Communication Technologies to create supportive, inclusive and empowering applications and environments that enable older, impaired or frail people to live independently and stay active longer in society. AAL capitalizes on the growing pervasiveness and effectiveness of sensing and computing facilities to supply the persons in need with smart assistance, by responding to their necessities of autonomy, independence, comfort, security and safety. The application scenarios addressed by AAL are complex, due to the inherent heterogeneity of the end-user population, their living arrangements, and their physical conditions or impairment. Despite aiming at diverse goals, AAL systems should share some common characteristics. They are designed to provide support in daily life in an invisible, unobtrusive and user-friendly manner. Moreover, they are conceived to be intelligent, to be able to learn and adapt to the requirements and requests of the assisted people, and to synchronise with their specific needs. Nevertheless, to ensure the uptake of AAL in society, potential users must be willing to use AAL applications and to integrate them in their daily environments and lives. In this respect, video- and audio-based AAL applications have several advantages, in terms of unobtrusiveness and information richness. In last area of technology, the quadrotor helicopter became essential equipment of everyday man use. Delivery by quadcopter has increased significantly in the last few years in different private and military fields because of its indispensable features such as autonomous flight, vertical take-off and landing. Most quadcopters used for delivery service utilize GPS signal for its autonomous flight to control itself and follow the desired path to the destination. Despite the prevalence of autonomous flight, it produces many challenges. GPS signal denial is one of the most critical challenges that may occur. GPS signal denial problem leads to affect the quadcopter control and potentially get lost. Many studies have tried to provide a solution toward this issue, yet, most solutions focused on specific applications and terms rather than achieving a general solution. In this paper, a multimode control algorithm is proposed as a solution for GPS signal denied through the autonomous flight. The algorithm consists of two control modes: GPS and accelerometer modes with Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF). The results show that the proposed algorithm is reliable and suitable for various applications of the quadcopter in different environments. The proposed algorithm can keep the quadcopter under control during GPS signal denial period and continue moving toward the desired path.

The paper studies the problem of determining the optimal control when singular arcs are present in the solution. In the general classical approach the expressions obtained depend on the state and the costate variables at the same time, so requiring a forward-backward integration for the computation of the control. In this paper, sufficient conditions on the dynamics structure are provided and discussed in order to have both the control and the switching function depending on the state only, so simplifying the computation avoiding the necessity of the backward integration. For some biotechnological technologies, there is a problem of separating living cells or destroying their membranes in order to obtain individual elements of the inner structure of the cell. This is usually done using microsurgical operations. In practice, the method of obtaining individual cell fragments without surgery using an acoustic wave is of interest. In this paper, a mathematical model and the results of modeling the process of the formation of an acoustic pressure wave in a liquid biological solution for the destruction of the membrane of a biological object is considered.

The cumulative installed capacity of wind power worldwide has grown rapidly in recent years. Fixed reactive power control is adopted by wind turbines (WTs) to receive cycle instruction of wind farm (WF) automatic voltage control system (AVCS). It does not have active voltage regulation (AVR) capability, which reduces the reliability of power system operation. Firstly, two ways of WTs AVR which QV droop control and Vac control mode are introduced in this paper. On the basis, the problems of reactive power circulation and control points inconsistency during multiWTs voltage regulation are discussed. The problems are solved by coordination of WTs of WF AVR strategy. WF voltage transient support capability is promoted by the strategy. Effectiveness is verified by simulation case of the proposed method. © 2019 Institution of engineering and Technology. All rights reserved.
