This study is an effort to give a practical solution in the problem of optimizing the structure of the Hierarchical Mixture of Experts model, which is a natural extension of the Associative Gaussian Mixture of Experts system. We present two novel methods for optimizing such structures using Genetic Algorithms. Special concern is taken for reducing the computational time so as to efficiently allow the structure to "grow" while it evolves with the Genetic Algorithm. The main contribution of the paper lies on the efficient, topologically oriented, representations of such architectures so as to be optimized through involving genetic algorithms.

In this paper, a position sensing system using magnet and magnetic sensor for autonomous vehicle robot is designed Magnetic sensing is a reliable technology that has been developed for the purposed of position measurement and guidance, especially for applications in autonomous vehicle robot The magnetic fields from a sample magnet are first measured to determine the characteristics of the field patterns as the basis for detection and position identification. A discussion of a position sensing system with a rejection algorithm of background field is presented. The position sensing technique was implemented in the guidance of autonomous vehicle robot. The results of lateral motion control show that position sensing system can be useful for an autonomous vehicle robot.

The paper is devoted to the problem of modeling demand for inventory management of slow-moving items in the case of reporting errors. It is proposed a generalization of the beta-binomial demand model that takes into account possible reporting errors in the learning sample. For the new model, there are developed identification and forecasting algorithms that provide consistent estimators of the model parameters and mean square optimal forecasts. The efficiency of the proposed approach is illustrated by an application example for slow-moving car parts.

Starting with the Park's equations of the synchronous generator, the paper presents the principles followed to obtain nonlinear models that can be directly used for computer simulations using Matlab with Simulink package. Also there are presented some comparative studies about an adaptive controller with application to excitation control of a synchronous generator, functioning in active power load regime. The control synthesis problem involving Implicit Model Following (IMF) is considered in the context of Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) and H 2/H∞, theories. The well-known quadratic or nominal H2 IMF problem is first extended to encompass LPV system models with a Linear Fractional Transformation (LFT) structure. This problem is then embedded in the framework of LPV theory. Conditions for dealing with additional mixed H2/H∞ criteria are discussed. The solvability conditions are provided with little conservatism by a previous multi-channel LFT/LPV result in discrete time. Finally, an illustrative example is used to validate this new formulation. Also, we demonstrate through this example that the IMF formulation is an effective technique to achieve a desired transient behavior for LPV systems.

This paper presents the newly developed digital redesign control scheme with a weighted switching strategy and lifted digital control, for a cascaded analogue system with state saturation. This method improves the generally poor transition response caused by state-saturation constraints. It replaces an existing or designed analogue controller with state saturation, by a digital controller with almost identical performance.
