The Internet of Things (IoT) algorithms process huge amounts of heterogeneous data in real-time. One of the most computationally intensive tasks using cloud technologies is the task of clustering and classifying data. The authors propose to develop an approach to data classification within the "Query by Similarity"paradigm, which uses the technology of data indexing based on Metric Access Methods (MAM). To improve the performance of data indexing, this paper proposes a similar nearest neighbor search method combining a multiple vantage point tree (MVP) and improved algorithms for processing the priority queue of nodes. The following two algorithms for processing the priority queue of nodes were developed: 1) algorithm for all kinds of points-queries, which makes it possible to take into account parent nodes of all higher levels;2) algorithm for grouped based on clustering of points-queries by reusing previously obtained search results. Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed approaches and algorithms. © 2020 ACM.

The precise and accurate measurement of flow rate in the batch flow of the solid particles is of primary importance in many process industries for the improvement of the efficiency of the system. Many techniques developed for the measurement of mass flow rate. The capacitive sensors has a significance of being non-invasive, higher accuracy and low cost for mass flow measurement despite the fact that many factors adversely affect the performance- including non-uniform flow, multiphase flow, temperature, pressure, and moisture in the solid particles. This paper covers preliminary investigations of the offline estimation of mass flow concentration based upon the calibration of capacitance electrodes to quantify the mass of dielectric as a function of capacitance variation between the electrodes. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. Fault-tolerant control is currently the most important step towards increased autonomy for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). In this work, we consider actuator and airframe faults in fixed-wing UAVs and show that an online Flight Envelope (FE) calculation can interpret their effect on the achievable trim trajectories. Subsequently, we design a fully integrated control scheme with a RRT-based planner and 3 Nonlinear Model Predictive control (MPC) layers. The FE is provided at each control layer with the beneficial result that non-trimmable, unstable trajectories are avoided. Results from high-fidelity simulations are provided.

Future smart grids will open the marketplace to novel services for grid management, such as Demand Side Management (DSM). To achieve energy saving in distribution systems, DSM aims at modifying load profile patterns of electricity demand by involving actively customers. In particular, residential customers can participate to this service by shifting their energivourous appliances (e.g. washing machine and dishwasher).In this paper, we present a novel DSM service to manage a day ahead balance. It exploits a human-in-the-loop approach to provide suggestions on shifting their appliances based on Latent Dirichlet Allocation algorithm combining both i) the probability density function of each customer's appliance usage and ii) the cost function. To assess our DSM service, we present our experimental results performed in a realistic environment where we simulated a virtual population of about 1′000 families. © 2019 IEEE.

Three spatial clustering approaches of a high-Reynolds number transient buoyant jet in a linearly stratified environment are applied along with proper orthogonal decomposition to identify similar/consistent regions in the domain of interest. The velocity fields analyzed are obtained from an experimental test with large scale, time-resolved, particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurements. Clustering is performed by the k-means method considering: (a) cross-section velocity profiles, (b) point-wise energy spectra, and (c) point-wise Reynolds stress tensor components. Three metrics are used for the assessment of clustering approaches, namely: (a) within-cluster sum of squares, (b) average silhouette, and (c) within-cluster number of POD modes required to resolve prescribed levels of total variance/energy. Results are promising and lay the foundation for an in dept. analysis of local features of complex flows as well as the formulation of efficient reduced order models. © 2019 by Timothy K. Minton. In recently, all the developers, programmer and software engineers, they are working specially on software component and software testing to compete the software technology in the world. For this competition, they are using different kind of sources to analysis the software reliability and importance. Nowadays Data mining is one of source, which is used in software for overcome the problem of software fault which occur during the software test and its analysis. This kind of problem leads software deformity prophecy in software. In this research paper, we are also trying to overcome the software deformity prophecy problem with the help of our proposed solution called ONER rule attribute. We have used REPOSITORY datasets models, these datasets models are defected and non-defected datasets models. Our analysis class of interest is defected models. In our research, we have analyzed the efficiency of our proposed solution methods. The experiments results showed that using of ONER with discretize, have improved the efficiency of correctly classified instances in all. Using percentage split and training datasets with ONER discretize rule attribute have improved correctly classified in all datasets models. The analysis of positive accuracy f-measure is also increased in percentage split during the use of ONER with discretize but in some datasets models, the training data and cross validation is better with use of ONER rule attribute. The area under curve (ROC) in both scenarios using ONER rule attribute and discretize with ONER rule attribute is almost same or equal with each other.

Proof-of-principle experimental demonstration of twin-field quantum key distribution over optical channels with asymmetric losses

Twin-field (TF) quantum key distribution (QKD) is highly attractive because it can beat the fundamental limit of secret key rate for point-to-point QKD without quantum repeaters. Many theoretical and experimental studies have shown the superiority of TFQKD in long-distance communication. All previous experimental implementations of TFQKD have been done over optical channels with symmetric losses. But in reality, especially in a network setting, the distances between users and the middle node could be very different. In this paper, we perform a first proof-of-principle experimental demonstration of TFQKD over optical channels with asymmetric losses. We compare two compensation strategies, that are (1) applying asymmetric signal intensities and (2) adding extra losses, and verify that strategy (1) provides much better key rate. Moreover, the higher the loss, the more key rate enhancement it can achieve. By applying asymmetric signal intensities, TFQKD with asymmetric channel losses not only surpasses the fundamental limit of key rate of point-to-point QKD for 50 dB overall loss, but also has key rate as high as 2.918 × 10−6 for 56 dB overall loss. Whereas no keys are obtained with strategy (2) for 56 dB loss. The increased key rate and enlarged distance coverage of TFQKD with asymmetric channel losses guarantee its superiority in long-distance quantum networks. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. Vehicle-to-cloud is a network access model that aims to share computing resources for vehicles. In vehicle-to-cloud communication, reliable links are critical. Through multipath transmission, comprehensive utilization of heterogeneous wireless networks between the vehicle and the cloud server can effectively improve the reliability and efficiency of transmission. A large number of studies have pointed out that a receive butter can greatly improve the performance of multipath transmission in vehicle-to-cloud communication. However, most of these studies, which use receive buffers to improve multipath transmission performance, do not explicitly specify the design details of the receive butter. A classic design idea is to use a fixed length receive butter. However, this idea makes it difficult to determine the appropriate butter length in a complex vehicle-to-cloud communication scenario. This paper proposes a Dynamic Time-Threshold (DTT) receive buffer. The DTT receive buffer takes into account the instability of vehicular wireless networks, and dynamically adjusts the time-threshold so that the packets in the receive butter do not affect the overall communication performance due to premature departure or excessive waiting. We verified the performance of the DTT receive butter through a large number of simulations and real tests. By comparison, the performance of DTT receive butter is significantly better than the fixed length receive butter.

The direct calculation of the absorption coefficient spectra of various tissues from spectral measurements allowed to retrieve the contents of melanin and lipofuscin. In the rabbit brain cortex, 1.8 times higher melanin content is explained by the neuron degeneration process. Similar melanin and lipofuscin contents were found in the rabbit pancreas as a result of the tissue aging process. The conversion of 83 % of the melanin in the human normal kidney into lipofuscin in the cancer kidney indicates that lipofuscin can be considered a kidney cancer marker in humans.
