Liver failure is a serious medical condition that can have life-threatening consequences. The liver is responsible for filtering blood and performing many other important functions. With the rise of machine learning in healthcare, there is an opportunity to use past datasets to predict liver failure early on. The main focus of this research work is to explore the application of supervised machine learning algorithms in predicting liver failure. The study involved pre-processing techniques such as univariate and bivariate analysis, and data visualization to gain better insights into the features of the dataset. Using these techniques, a multi-class classification model was built with machine learning algorithms, and the performance metrics of accuracy, F1 score, and recall were used to compare the algorithms. The results show that machine learning algorithms can accurately predict liver failure and can be an effective tool in healthcare. This study demonstrates the potential of machine learning in predicting liver failure and can contribute to the development of future models in the field. The results of this research study indicates that the proposed algorithm achieved an accuracy of 94.48%. The proposed work will be beneficial to researchers in this field and inspire them to build more advanced and accurate models. © 2023 IEEE.

Ubiquitous knowledge discovery systems must be captured from many different perspectives. In earlier chapters, aspects like machine learning, underlying network technologies etc. were described. An essential component, which we shall discuss now, is still missing: Ubiquitous data. While data themselves are a central part of the knowledge discovery process, in a ubiquitous setting new challenges arise. In this context, the emergence of data itself plays a large role, therefore we label this part of KDubiq systems ubiquitous data. It clarifies the KDubiq challenges related to the multitude of available data and what we must do before we can tap into this rich information source. © 2010 Springer-Verlag.

The high number of people with Cognitive Disabilities (CD) is a serious social issue. A significant number of workers in the society provide care to family members with CD. The working caregivers either need to reschedule their working hours or spend less time with their elders. This article proposes PAIR, a Personal Ambient Intelligent Reminder that is designed to assist subjects with CD, their caregivers and the health professionals in an intelligent environment. Its goal is twofold: i) to create schedules that support complex temporal relationships between activities;ii) to generate a set of rules as a reminder agent to be included in an ambient intelligent environment in order to remind the patients and caregivers about the daily activities of the patient. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

WLAN security protocols are the most important section for wireless networks which controls all the security-related issues by securing the network with some pre-defined rules made by wireless-protected access organizations, further which makes it the main target of hacking and threats by interested parties and to be safe from such threats. There should be countermeasures for such threats where there will be a solution for any threat encountered and to mention. WIFI or wireless local area Network is a cost-effective easy deployment Network that makes users take advantage of vast data shared on the internet and by the network without the need for any cable for connections. Here in this overview paper by reviewing many researchers' techniques and works on the WLAN security topic, there are shared threats to WLAN and the ways of taking precautions against those threats as countermeasures and for which the tables are used. For comparison of techniques used by authors and some famous and highly dangerous threats are also defined further. WPA3's new security protocol is also defined with its newly found vulnerabilities and countermeasures except there is a conclusion on the downgrade attack problem with WPA3. Further, there are also countermeasures for that as well, nowadays people think the network is secured with standards defined by the IEEE organization but some know this is not the case so it makes it a more important area for research. © 2023 IEEE.

We propose Dungeons & Swimmers, an interactive audio- And motion-based exergame for swimming. As the first of its kind, we explore its design considerations and opportunities stemming from swimming. We gamify the four different stroke types with an auditory feedback. For minimal interference, we develop a single sensor-based wearable prototype detecting the strokes and stroke types in real time. We conduct a pilot deployment to study initial user experiences.

Electronic health record (EHR) foundation models have been an area ripe for exploration with their improved performance in various medical tasks. Despite the rapid advances, there exists a fundamental limitation: Processing unseen medical codes out of the vocabulary. This problem limits the generality of EHR foundation models and the integration of models trained with different vocabularies. To deal with this problem, we propose MedRep for EHR foundation models based on the observational medical outcome partnership (OMOP) common data model (CDM), providing the integrated medical concept representations and the basic data augmentation strategy for patient trajectories. For concept representation learning, we enrich the information of each concept with a minimal definition through large language model (LLM) prompts and enhance the text-based representations through graph ontology of OMOP vocabulary. Trajectory augmentation randomly replaces selected concepts with other similar concepts that have closely related representations to let the model practice with the concepts out-of-vocabulary. Finally, we demonstrate that EHR foundation models trained with MedRep better maintain the prediction performance in external datasets. Designing personalized search engines based on a recommender system that takes into consideration the user situated moment in relation to the subject matter and the context that governs user interest has been largely ignored. In this paper, we present a novel approach to integrating user interests into search within a recommender system that is guided by the semantic representation of the user and the content. In addition, our research tackles two problems of creating any recommender system: (a) the initial stage problem (how to provide recommendations to a user if the system hasn't been used yet) and (b) user context (providing the same user with different recommendations based on the context of their recent activity). Also the design of our recommender system is modular. It integrates and accommodates user's preferences by using User Relevance Feedback. Finally, we describe how the personalization aspects can increase the recommendation quality. © 2010 IEEE.

In this paper, we further develop a framework for reasoning about action. We show how the proposed formalism copes with complex action domains in the presence of indirect effects. Furthermore, we also introduce an alternative representation of dynamic systems that enables the proposed formalism to deal with sophisticated problems. Recent advancement in deep learning has applied to solve various complex problems ranging from big data analytic to computer vision and human-level control. One among them is the deepfake technology which becomes a real threat to privacy, democracy, and national security. Deepfake is hyper-realistic digitally manipulated videos to depict people saying and doing things that never actually happened. This technology has been used in many fields in film industries for recreating videos without re-shooting, awareness video generation such as creating voices of those who have lost theirs or updating episodes of movies without re-shooting them at very low cost. This technology has many harmful usages in social media, pornographic sites, etc. to deface peoples which largely dominate the positive side of this application of deep learning. Also, the creation and spreading of these videos are increasing rapidly along all fields of media files. Therefore, it is very much important to develop efficient tools that can automatically detect the deepfake in these videos and thus reduce the public harm caused by such videos. In the early stages of deepfake detection, traditional technologies like signal processing, image processing, lip-syncing, etc were used but this provides very little accuracy when combined with the recent technologies of deep learning. So, here a system is proposed that can automatically detect the deepfake in media files such as images, videos, and audios. This uses an image processing approaches combined with deep learning which detects the inconsistency that exists in fake media. © 2020 IEEE.

In this paper, we evaluate a visual search engine that is designed to solve the real problem of browsing and searching for documents in a vast repository of colleges/courses located at Western Kentucky University (WKU). The architectural design of this interface combines Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) with Semantic Factoring to decompose complex, vast concepts into their primitives in order to develop knowledge representation for the HyperManyMedia plat-form1. The main objective of this study is to test: (a) the efficiency of ranking the documents using precision, and (b) the usability of the visual search engine. This approach has been implemented and used by online students at WKU2. © 2010 SCS.
