Real-Time Detection of Cattle Behavior Using YOLOv9 with AutoAugment and Mixup data Augmentation Techniques

As the number of livestock farms in Korea decreases, the scale of individual farms has grown, necessitating advanced methods for efficient livestock management. Recent studies have increasingly applied computer vision and deep learning to monitor livestock behavior, health, and disease, aiming to enhance productivity and animal welfare. This study introduces a real-time cattle behavior detection system utilizing YOLOv9, a state-of-the-art object detection algorithm known for its high accuracy and efficiency. The YOLOv9-s model, optimized for real-time detection with minimal computational overhead, was employed. To further enhance detection accuracy, we incorporated AutoAugment, a data augmentation technique that automatically selects the optimal augmentation policies, and mixup, a method that improves model generalization by creating new training samples through linear interpolation of existing ones. The application of AutoAugment improved the mean Average Precision (mAP) from 0.926 to 0.941, while the addition of mixup raised the mAP to 0.947, representing a 2.1% performance increase. Text-based applications and chatbots are increasingly popular for delivering banking services and educational tools, offering convenient and efficient solutions for users. Whereas, personalized assistants have transformed user engagement in the digital banking space by utilizing Large Language Models (LLMs) in conjunction with autonomous agents. This study proposes the development of an intelligent personalized assistant for digital banking, utilizing a multi-agent framework based on the LangGraph and Chain of Thoughts (COT) prompting. While COT guarantees context-aware replies, the LangGraph design maps characteristics to nodes to improve user interactions. The objectives of this system are to enhance task efficiency and elevate the capabilities of digital banking assistants. We present a customizable digital banking system powered by LLM-based models, designed to deliver an interactive and personalized banking experience. The system supports a range of services, including adding money, transferring funds, paying bills, accessing telco services like mobile recharge, managing savings interest rates, DPS schemes, fixed deposits, and answering FAQs related to banking information. Therefore, integrating COT for logical reasoning enhances the effectiveness of multi-agent systems, as each single agent benefits from the structured reasoning process. In addition, LangGraph is employed for structured data management, enabling the assistant to support and accelerate various digital banking processes efficiently. This study uses a novel method of segmenting and computing the tissue area in brain MRI images to predict the presence of brain tumors and classify the type of tumor into common types (pituitary, meningioma, and glioma). The tissues that make up the brain have intricate boundaries. In order to more accurately classify the different types of tumors, we have thus divided the brain tissues into three segments and examined for enlarged segments using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and a Modified CNN that uses transfer learning and VGGNet. The paper's methodology involves using CNNs with Transfer Learning for efficient image segmentation and clustering, followed by VGGNet for noise reduction and image segmentation refining. We are optimizing the internal parameters of VGGNet in order to outperform the competition. The volume and density of malignant clusters are computed through pixel counting. This kind of method works pretty well for figuring out tissue volume in a wide range of illnesses that affect people of all ages. © 2024 Bharati Vidyapeeth, New Delhi.

Barcode scanning errors in retail environments contribute to inventory discrepancies, financial losses, and inefficiencies in stock management. Traditional optical barcode scanning methods are prone to failures due to occlusion, poor lighting conditions, and barcode damage. While recent advancements such as computer vision, deep learning-based error detection, and RFID integration have improved scanning accuracy, these approaches still face challenges related to high computational requirements, environmental dependencies, and implementation costs. This paper proposes a novel method utilizing X-ray imaging technology and advanced machine learning algorithms to detect improperly scanned or missing barcodes in real time. The system captures detailed X-ray images of items as they enter retail stores or warehouses and applies deep learning models to analyze barcode visibility. Real-time alerts are generated when scanning anomalies are detected, enabling prompt corrective action. Experimental evaluations demonstrate that the proposed approach significantly improves barcode detection accuracy, enhances inventory management, and reduces operational costs. The findings highlight the potential for widespread deployment in retail and logistics environments, offering a robust solution to barcode scanning challenges. © 2025 IEEE.

In contemporary society, pets are increasingly regarded as integral family members, contributing significantly to human quality of life. The growing prevalence of dog ownership has concurrently escalated the economic burden associated with veterinary care, particularly in managing common conditions like skin diseases. This study introduces an advanced deep learning-based diagnostic system for canine skin diseases, designed for practical application in home environments. We employed RandAugment to enhance data augmentation, thereby increasing the diversity of the training dataset. Furthermore, the implementation of Patterned-GridMask significantly improved the model's generalization capabilities. The use of the AdamW optimization algorithm was instrumental in mitigating overfitting, thus enhancing the model's overall learning efficiency. The proposed Transformer-based model, ViT/B-16, achieved an accuracy of 78.65% with the original dataset. With the integration of RandAugment and Patterned-GridMask techniques, the model's accuracy improved to 84.33%, underscoring its potential effectiveness for practical veterinary applications. In modern society, the number of households raising pets is increasing. As pet ownership increases, the cost of treating companion cats is also rising, with a significant portion of these costs going toward the treatment of skin diseases. Skin diseases are among the common ailments in pets, and swift action is required if they occur in cats. However, early lesions lack distinctive characteristics, making accurate diagnosis difficult. Therefore, this study proposes a CADx(Computer-Aided Diagnosis) system that classifies images of cat skin conditions into inflammatory lesions, non-inflammatory lesions, and normal images using a dataset of cat skin diseases. We selected the ConvNeXt model, based on CNN, which can learn regional information and features. To learn various patterns of skin lesions, we applied Mixup, an image augmentation technique. When Mixup was applied, the model accuracy was 0.8679, showing a 3.35% improvement compared to the original dataset. Additionally, Lookahead Optimizer was applied to ensure stable learning of Mixup. When both Mixup and Lookahead Optimizer were applied, the model accuracy was 0.8741, showing a high improvement of 3.97% compared to the original dataset. Therefore, the Lookahead Optimizer helps with the stable training of mixup, which can improve the performance of the model. Copyright © The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers.

Skin diseases in companion cats can worsen if not treated promptly, and this can increase the financial burden on pet owners. To prevent this, early and accurate diagnosis is essential. This study introduces a deep learning-based Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CADx) system designed to classify cat skin diseases into non-inflammatory and inflammatory lesions by comparing them with normal images. The system employs the EfficientNetV2 model and incorporates image augmentation techniques like AutoAugment and AugMix to enhance classification performance. The study results indicate that the developed model achieved an 84.68% accuracy for non-inflammatory lesions, reflecting a 10.06% improvement, and a 97.19% accuracy for inflammatory lesions, reflecting a 2.45% improvement. Furthermore, we applied Grad-CAM to visualize the regions of interest in the images, offering veterinarians critical insights into the location and characteristics of the lesions. This system has the potential to significantly improve the precision of diagnosing skin diseases in companion cats, thereby supporting better veterinary care. Exploiting parallelism to train deep learning models requires GPUs to cooperate through collective communication primitives. While systems like DGX, equipped with proprietary interconnects, have been extensively studied, the systems where GPUs mainly communicate through PCIe have received limited attention. This paper introduces TCCL, a collective communication library designed explicitly for such systems. TCCL has three components: a profiler for multitransfer performance measurement, a pathfinder to discover optimal communication paths, and a modified runtime of NCCL to utilize the identified paths. The focus is on ring-based collective communication algorithms that apply to popular communication operations in deep learning, such as AllReduce and AllGather. The evaluation results of TCCL on three different PCIe-dependent GPU clusters show that TCCL outperforms (up to ×2.07) the state-of-the-art communication libraries, NCCL and MSCCL.
