Traffic management poses a critical challenge in modern metropolitan areas, where efficient management can significantly reduce travel time and vehicle emissions. With the vision of smart cities in mind, the increasing prominence of autonomous cars is anticipated to revolutionize road networks under the control of a central supercomputer known as the Central Traffic Control Unit, which maintains real-time location information for each vehicle within its jurisdiction and assumes responsibility for path planning. This paper investigates the problem of traffic management for self-driving vehicles, focusing on the utilization of essential information, such as source and destination locations, to guide vehicles along the most efficient routes, mitigating road congestion and ensuring prompt arrivals. To address this challenge, we formulate the problem as a mixed-integer linear programming model. Furthermore, due to its complexity, we propose a heuristic method called the Best Neighbor Algorithm for Routing Traffic (BNART). We extensively evaluate the performance of our proposed heuristic approach against optimal solutions on small-scale instances and other state-of-the-art methods such as the shortest path algorithm on large-scale instances. Through simulation, we demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms other methods in terms of average travel time, exhibiting a negligible gap to the optimal solution.

The popularity of smartphone devices has rapidly increased in recent years and many people utilize smartphones for various needs. The development of mobile applications has been aimed at various fields that make the demand for mobile application programmers increase. Recently, Flutter has become a software development kit for cross-platform applications development, including Android and iOS, so many software developers have adopted it. To provide a self-learning system for studying mobile programming with Flutter, we propose a learning assistance system with an automatic Dart code verification feature. Based on our previous studies in Android Programming Learning Assistance System (APLAS), the automatic code verification process can adopt software testing process for Android applications. The learning model provides learning materials for studying and practicing by solving an assignment. A learning topic of developing a simple application is prepared for the proposed system evaluation. 40 university students in IT department have been appointed to study Flutter and solve the assignment. Finally, they can solve the assignment correctly and give positive opinions about using this system. © 2022 IEEE.

One significant aspect of smart cities is the emergence of Autonomous elec.ric Vehicles (AEVs), which are poised to revolutionize transportation systems, offering an intelligent transportation system that surpasses traditional modes in terms of reducing carbon emissions, environmental pollution, congestion, transportation costs, and wait times. In this context, ride-hailing systems will play a pivotal role by leveraging shared AEVs to optimize transportation efficiency. This paper presents an in-dept. exploration of an efficient Autonomous Driving System (ARH) that leverages a fleet of autonomous elec.ric vehicles, enabling riders to seamlessly schedule trips while the intelligent system allocates suitable vehicles and integrates multiple ride requests. Our proposed solution aims to minimize arrival times for both AEVs and passengers by accepting the maximum number of feasible requests. To strike a balance between passenger satisfaction and system profitability, this study introduces a novel heuristic approach called Minimization of Passenger and Vehicle Time (MPVT). By adopting this approach, we aim to overcome the challenges associated with complexity and deliver a satisfactory experience for passengers while maximizing profitability for the system operator.

Increasing integration of converter-interfaced renewable power generation challenges the stability of the frequency in the modern power systems due to the lack of inertia in this type of generators. In this regard, this paper establishes a control method for controlling multilevel converters as an interface between renewable power generation and the power grid, which enables them to operate as voltage-controlled sources, thus grid-forming capabilities like conventional synchronous generators (SGs). In fact, the proposed control technique mimics the behavior of synchronous generators in the control loop of the neutral point clamped (NPC) converter. Consequently, supportive functionalities for frequency stability i.e., inertia and frequency/power oscillation damping will be provided by the multilevel converter as a virtual synchronous generator (VSG). Simulation results in Matlab/Simulink verifies the well-designed inertia and damping features for the interfaced converter as well as appropriate performance of multilevel converter in reducing total harmonic distortion (THD). © 2021 IEEE.

This study presents an advanced magnetic biosensor design incorporating an L-shaped ferromagnetic core with UL dimensions and an air gap replaced by highly porous aluminum or copper foam later-filled biological samples containing high-permeability ferromagnetic nanoparticles. The sensor detects specific biological molecules through magnetic field interactions. The system's elec.rical parameters were methodically optimized for enhanced performance. The research investigated the impact of various materials on the air gap's magnetic properties and assessed the relationships between permeability, output-induced voltage, input voltage, and input frequency. Findings indicate that using materials with higher magnetic permeability, such as Magnetite (Fe304) or Cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4) ferrofluids, considerably improved the biosensor's performance by optimizing magnetic coupling between primary and secondary windings. This innovative magnetic biosensor holds potential for diverse applications, including medical diagnostics, environmental monitoring, and industrial process control. The study offers valuable insights into magnetic biosensor design and optimization, facilitating heightened sensitivity and selec.ivity in detecting target molecules. © 2023 IEEE.

The self-propelled artillery is one of the weapons with high mobility and very effective in supporting infantry to master battlefields. It is equipped with a radar to capture targets and control weapons to destroy targets. Normaly, the cabin of the vehicle is too small, therefore the commander cannot monitor the crew's actions to improve the effectiveness of the practical training. In this paper, the authors have conducted a research on pseudo-signal generation for self-propelled artillery radars then transmitting them to computers as a basis step for the improving research and training systems. To carry out the above research, the authors conducted a practical survey of signal parameters on the real equipment then combined them with the technical documents to analyze and selec. signals to be transmitted to the experiment computer. Study about methods for simulating the pseudo-signal generation of targets, signal transceiver and display technology on self-propelled artillery radar screen through programming of the STM32-F411 microcontroller and the application of Lora technology (Long Range Radio) to transmit and receive signals. The research results through hard and software experiments have shown as a basis step for evaluating the effectiveness of the design. © 2023 IEEE.

This work presents a high-performance AC-DC quasi single-stage current-fed resonant converter based elec.ric vehicles (EVs) charger. A non-linear control technique is applied which has two main objectives i.e;Power factor correction (PFC) and regulation of DC output voltage. For this purpose, super twisting sliding mode control (ST-SMC) is suggested in this study for 400V batteries of EVs. To reduce switching losses and improve efficiency, the secondary side switch shows turn OFF with zero voltage switching (ZVS) while the primary ones exhibit ZVS at turn ON instant. Hardware-in-loop (HIL) experimental validation based on the Delfino F28369D dual-core microcontroller is used to verify the performance of the controller and converter simulated on PSIM and MATLAB/Simulink. © 2025 IEEE.

The introduction of robots is widely considered to have significant potential of alleviating the issues of worker shortage and stagnant productivity that afflict the construction industry. However, it is challenging to use fully automated robots in complex and unstructured construction sites. Human-Robot Collaboration (HRC) has shown promise of combining human workers’ flexibility and robot assistants’ physical abilities to jointly address the uncertainties inherent in construction work. When introducing HRC in construction, it is critical to recognize the importance of teamwork and supervision in field construction and establish a natural and intuitive communication system for the human workers and robotic assistants. Natural language-based interaction can enable intuitive and familiar communication with robots for human workers who are non-experts in robot programming. However, limited research has been conducted on this topic in construction. This paper proposes a framework to allow human workers to interact with construction robots based on natural language instructions. The proposed method consists of three stages: Natural Language Understanding (NLU), Information Mapping (IM), and Robot Control (RC). Natural language instructions are input to a language model to predict a tag for each word in the NLU module. The IM module uses the result of the NLU module and building component information to generate the final instructional output essential for a robot to acknowledge and perform the construction task. A case study for drywall installation is conducted to evaluate the proposed approach. The results of the NLU and IM modules show high accuracy over 99%, allowing a robot to perform tasks accurately for a given set of natural language instructions in the RC module. The obtained results highlight the potential of using natural language-based interaction to replicate the communication that occurs between human workers within the context of human-robot teams. Fog computing significantly enhances the efficiency of IoT applications by providing computation, storage, and networking resources at the edge of the network. In this paper, we propose a federated fog computing framework designed to optimize resource management, minimize latency, and reduce energy consumption across distributed IoT environments. Our framework incorporates predictive scheduling, energy-aware resource allocation, and adaptive mobility management strategies. Experimental results obtained from extensive simulations using the OMNeT++ environment demonstrate that our federated approach outperforms traditional non-federated architectures in terms of resource utilization, latency, energy efficiency, task execution time, and scalability. These findings underline the suitability and effectiveness of the proposed framework for supporting sustainable and high-performance IoT services. © 2025, CC BY.
