Power-Line Interference (PLI) may seriously distort the ECG (Electrocardiogram) signal rendering the ECG analysis inaccurate. Various types of Notch filtering and adaptive cancellation schemes have been used to eliminate PLI interference from ECG. In this paper we propose an enhanced adaptive noise canceller (ANC) based on State Space Recursive Least Square (SSRLS) for elimination of PLI. SSRLS algorithm is a state space model-dependent recursive algorithm characterized by fast rate of convergence and hence exhibits excellent tracking performance. State-space formulation of noise model enables SSRLS filter to be implemented in an instinctive manner in comparison to other approaches. The proposed method is very effective for online tracking of PLI without requiring a reference noise source. The proposed method can also be employed to filter out the PLI even when corrupted ECG signal has low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

In this paper, a wideband monopole antenna with high gain characteristics has been proposed. Number of slits was introduced at the far radiating edge to transform it to multiple monopole radiators. Partial ground plane has been used to widen the bandwidth while by inserting suitable slits at the radiating edges return loss and bandwidth has been improved. The proposed antenna provides high gain up to 13.2dB and the achieved impedance bandwidth is wider than an earlier reported design. FR4 Epoxy with dielectric constant 4.4 and loss tangent 0.02 has been used as substrate material. Antenna has been simulated using HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator) as a 3D electromagnetic field simulator, based on finite element method. A good settlement has been found between simulated and measured results. The proposed design is suitable for GSM (890-960MHz), GPS (L1:1575.42MHz, L2:1227.60MHz, L3:1381.05MHz, L4:1379.913MHz, L5:1176.45MHz), DCS (1710-1880MHz), PCS (1850-1990MHz), UMTS(1920-2170MHz), Wi-Fi/WLAN/Hiper LAN/IEEE 802.11 2.4GHz (2412-2484MHz), 3.6GHz (3657.5-3690.0MHz) and 4.9/5.0GHz (4915-5825MHz), Bluetooth (2400-2484MHz), WiMAX 2.3GHz (2.3-2.5GHz), 2.5GHz (2500-2690 MHz), 3.3GHz, 3.5GHz (3400-3600MHz) and 5.8GHz (5.6-5.9GHz) & LTE applications. © 2012 IEEE.

Body centric wireless communication refers to inter human and intra human connectivity for various medical and rescue application. A compact and flexible printed textile antenna operable at 5.2GHz for WiMAX and WLAN application has been presented. Wearable 1mm thick blue jeans having relative permittivity 1.67 and loss tangent of 0.01 has been used as substrate material. Return loss, VSWR and radiation pattern have been presented to show the good agreement between the simulated and measured results. Free space and near body scenarios were considered separately while designing and in measurement of results. The proposed antenna exhibits omnidirectional radiation pattern for near body case with suitable gain of 5dB for body centric applications. Simulations were carried out using HFSS (High Frequency Structural Simulator) and measurements were performed using vector network analyzer and anechoic chamber. © 2012 IEEE.

This paper presents a general-purpose power efficient scalable hybrid architecture, that integrates scalar and vector processor architectures together to achieve better performance for both vectorizable and non-vectorizable portions of a program. As many applications require different cost and performance constraints, the scalability of the proposed design offers numerous variants in order to provide the required performance-cost ratios. Scalability is further investigated in terms of size of data elements, length of vector registers and addressing capability. The hybrid approach of integrating a fully capable scalar processor with a vector processor removes the need for inter-processor communication, thereby decreasing the delay associated with it. The goal is not only to reduce the power consumption but also to increase the power efficiency. The proposed architecture adopts several techniques to improve power efficiency, such as limited multithreading capability, compiler based techniques as well as dynamic power management. © 2012 IEEE.

A hyperspectral imaging system has been used to acquire hyperspectral data representing various combinations of three pure algal mixtures in liquid media. Geometric and linear spectral unmixing methods have been applied to identify the ratiometric combinations of the algae in the mixtures. For the geometric method, two local spectral slopes have been identified as spectral features. Average feature values for each class of algae are used as vertices of a triangle, and then compared to the test features to predict algal ratios in the test mixture. The results are compared to those from classic linear spectral unmixing. In the two independent data sets prepared, the introduced geometric method produced more favorable results than the classical spectral unmixing method.

The advancement in wireless technologies and the high availability of wireless equipment in everyday devices is a factor in the success of infrastructure-less networks. MANETs are becoming more and more common due to their ease of deployment. The high availability of such networks and the lack in security measures of their routing protocols are alluring a number of attackers to intrude. A particular type of DoS attack; known as Wormhole is the topic of discussion in this paper. A number of solutions have been proposed catering a wide range of possibilities for detection and prevention of wormholes. Literature review shows that the paths in the routing table have not been used for the detection of the wormhole attack; with a little modification to the structure of the routing table we can be able to detect suspicious links. In this paper we have proposed the use of the modified routing table for detection of the suspicious links, confirmation of wormhole existence, at the end isolating the confirmed wormhole nodes. The approach has been applied to DSDV and the detection of self-sufficient wormhole nodes and attacks. Our future work will involve the use of our own approach for detection and prevention of wormhole attacks in other protocols as well as comparison the technique with other techniques present in literature.
