This paper presents a study and a management of an autonomous hybrid microgrid system based on photovoltaic (PV) and wind renewable energy sources (RES). These power systems deliver electricity to remote locations including isolated villages in either desert or mountains, offshore islands, or military bases where it is either technically difficult or economically unfeasible to connect with the main power grid. In microgrid system based on RES, the power generation is heavily reliant to the meteorological conditions. Moreover, the lifespan of the energy storage systems decreases when the number of operating cycle increases. Therefore, one of the most important issues is the ability to provide the load with the necessary power despite the significant variation of the produced energy. Consequently, a robust energy management strategy is of prime importance in these systems. The paper proposes a design and simulation of an energy management strategy that considers various operation modes of an autonomous hybrid microgrid system. Extensive numerical simulations results performed on MATLAB/Simulink for an autonomous PV/wind microgrid feeding 8kW load at various operating conditions validate the proposed strategy.

Due to the constant influx of multiple security attacks into the next generation of mobile communication technologies, the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has established authentication and key agreement protocol, 5-GAKA, to securely access the 5G communication services while maintaining the integrity of the underlying network. However, some recent findings pointed out that 5G-AKA has many drawbacks, including perfect forward secrecy violations, malicious Serving Network (SN) attacks, desynchronization attacks, privacy theft, stolen device, and denial of service (DoS) attacks when the user uses roaming mobile services. Considering the drawbacks of current 5G communication protocols and the necessity to facilitate additional security, a provably secure and lightweight protocol for 5G communication (PSLP-5G) is introduced. The PSLP-5G's security is guaranteed using the Scyther tool and Real-Or-Random (ROR) logic. Furthermore, performance comparisons are made to show how much lighter the PSLP-5G is than its counterparts. Additionally, the PSLP-5G's suitability for use in real-time applications is demonstrated by comparing the network performance of PSLP-5G and its counterparts using the Network Simulator tool NS3.

Bug reports (BR) contain vital information that can help triaging teams prioritize and assign bugs to developers who will provide the fixes. However, studies have shown that BR fields often contain incorrect information that need to be reassigned, which delays the bug fixing process. There exist approaches for predicting whether a BR field should be reassigned or not. These studies use mainly BR descriptions and traditional machine learning algorithms (SVM, KNN, etc.). As such, they do not fully benefit from the sequential order of information in BR data, such as function call sequences in BR stack traces, which may be valuable for improving the prediction accuracy. In this paper, we propose a novel approach, called EnHMM, for predicting the reassignment of BR fields using ensemble Hidden Markov Models (HMMs), trained on stack traces. EnHMM leverages the natural ability of HMMs to represent sequential data to model the temporal order of function calls in BR stack traces. When applied to Eclipse and Gnome BR repositories, EnHMM achieves an average precision, recall, and F-measure of 54%, 76%, and 60% on Eclipse dataset and 41%, 69%, and 51% on Gnome dataset. We also found that EnHMM improves over the best single HMM by 36% for Eclipse and 76% for Gnome. Finally, when comparing EnHMM to ***, a recent approach in the field, we found that the average F-measure score of EnHMM improves the average F-measure of *** by 6.80% and improves the average recall of *** by 36.09%. Machine Learning software documentation is different from most of the documentations that were studied in software engineering research. Often, the users of these documentations are not software experts. The increasing interest in using data science and in particular, machine learning in different fields attracted scientists and engineers with various levels of knowledge about programming and software engineering. Our ultimate goal is automated generation and adaptation of machine learning software documents for users with different levels of expertise. We are interested in understanding the nature and triggers of the problems and the impact of the users’ levels of expertise in the process of documentation evolution. We will investigate the Stack Overflow Q&As and classify the documentation related Q/As within the machine learning domain to understand the types and triggers of the problems as well as the potential change requests to the documentation. We intend to use the results for building on top of the state of the art techniques for automatic documentation generation and extending on the adoption, summarization, and explanation of software functionalities. Models of opinion dynamics play a major role in various disciplines, including economics, political science, psychology, and social science, as they provide a framework for analysis and intervention. In spite of the numerous mathematical models of social learning proposed in the literature, only a few models have focused on or allow for the possibility of popular extreme beliefs' formation in a population. This paper closes this gap by introducing the Partisan Confidence (PC) model inspired by the foundations of the well-established socio-psychological theory of groupthink. The model hints at the existence of a tipping point, passing which the opinions of the individuals within a so-called "social bubble" are exaggerated towards an extreme position, no matter how the general population is united or divided. The results are also justified through numerical experiments, which provide new insights into the evolution of opinions and the groupthink phenomenon. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. 5G is being designed as a common platform where multiple vertical applications will be able to co-exist and grow in a seamless manner. The diversity of the vertical requirements as well as the particular features of the 5G network itself, make it a real challenge to be able to assess or predict applications performance for those verticals. In this paper we motivate the fact that because of the very nature of verticals and 5G infrastructure, measurements alone will not be sufficient for application performance monitoring and prediction. We then propose a comprehensive framework to integrate those measurements in a simulation setting, presenting the key features and current roadblocks for an end-to-end wide-spread implementation. Due to the constant penetration of various security attacks, it is highly important to secure the underlying communication networks between the IoT, Fog and Cloud in the next generation of mobile communication system (5G). Thus, secure authentication and key agreement protocol, namely 5G-AKA, has been proposed in the literature to safely and stably access the 5G mobile services. However, some recent findings reveal that 5G-AKA and its numerous versions based on symmetric or asymmetric encryption are either vulnerable to different attacks such as perfect forward secrecy violation, malicious Serving Network (SN), de-synchronization attack, privacy theft, stolen device, or are computationally intensive. Apart from that, these protocols use single-factor authentication. Considering the above demerits of these protocols and the necessity to provide enhanced security, we propose an Elliptic Curve-Cryptography (ECC)-based multi-factor 5G-AKA authentication protocol. It provides additional security and achieves cost-effectiveness in terms of computational, communication, storage costs and energy consumption. The formal security analysis using Real-Or-Random (ROR) logic has been done to confirm its security. Moreover, we evaluate the performance of the proposed protocol in terms of computational, communication, storage costs and energy consumption. The evaluation results show that the proposed protocol requires less cost than its counterparts, reducing computational cost by up to 57%, communication cost by up to 59%, storage cost by up to 52%, and energy consumption by up to 51%.

Device-to-device (D2D) communications have been pro- posed as one of the key technologies to improve the spectral efficiency in the future fifth generation (5G) of wireless mobile communication systems through resource sharing with cellular networks such that it can offload the part of cellular traffic onto the D2D network. However, intra-cell interference in D2D underlying cellular systems may decrease the performance of wireless network. In this paper, we investigate the subcarrier allocation issue when employing physical layer security capacity of D2D pairs and cellular users (CUs). When secrecy-capacity take into consideration, D2D communications can help the cellular system to decrease intra-cell interference. In our optimization task, we formulate the subcarrier allocation problem to maximize the system secrecy-capacity while guaranteeing the minimum data rate requirements for all D2D pairs and CUs. Such optimization is NP-hard problem with nonlinear constraints and optimal solution can be found through complicated methods such as exhaustive search or branch-and-bound. We, therefore, propose tabu search (TS) meta-heuristic algorithm to globally find the optimal subcarrier allocation solution to maximize system secrecy-capacity. Simulation results show that the proposed TS scheme achieves a higher performance than other algorithms in term of system secrecy- capacity. © 2019 IEEE.
