Entangled pairs serve as the cornerstone for secure data transmission. All-optical-switching technology on nodes enables the entangling signals to bypass nodes and build ultra-long entangled pairs. Nevertheless, entangled pairs suffer from decoherence over distance, causing inadequate fidelity and potentially compromising transmission quality. To address the challenges, we employ entanglement purification to enhance fidelity to meet the threshold. However, the purification process consumes additional entangled pairs and may fail. Besides, the purification efficiency would be poor if the input pairs have low fidelity. Thus, it is unavoidable to divide the path into sub-paths with appropriate lengths for better purification efficiency and then merge them into a longer entangled pair by swapping. The novel optimization problem DOSP then emerges: maximizing the probability while adhering to fidelity constraints. To tackle the DOSP efficiently, we propose a (1-δ)-approximation algorithm NSPS to consider the probability and fidelity jointly, where is a positive user-defined constant. Finally, the simulation results manifest that the NSPS can outperform the existing methods by at least 70%. © 2024 IEEE.

Pneumonia is a respiratory infection caused by bacteria, fungi, or viruses. It affects many people, particularly those in developing or underdeveloped nations with high pollution levels, unhygienic living conditions, overcrowding, and insufficient medical infrastructure. Pneumonia can cause pleural effusion, where fluids fill the lungs, leading to respiratory difficulty. Early diagnosis is crucial to ensure effective treatment and increase survival rates. Chest X-ray imaging is the most commonly used method for diagnosing pneumonia. However, visual examination of chest X-rays can be difficult and subjective. In this study, we have developed a computer-aided diagnosis system for automatic pneumonia detection using chest X-ray images. We have used DenseNet-121 and ResNet50 as the backbone for the binary class (pneumonia and normal) and multi-class (bacterial pneumonia, viral pneumonia, and normal) classification tasks, respectively. We have also implemented a channel-specific spatial attention mechanism, called Fuzzy Channel Selective Spatial Attention Module (FCSSAM), to highlight the specific spatial regions of relevant channels while removing the irrelevant channels of the extracted features by the backbone. We evaluated the proposed approach on a publicly available chest X-ray dataset, using binary and multi-class classification setups. Our proposed method achieves accuracy rates of 97.15% and 79.79% for the binary and multi-class classification setups, respectively. The results of our proposed method are superior to state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods. The code of the proposed model will be available at: https://***/AyushRoy2001/FA-Net

Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is designed to support flexible and seamless deployment for military and homeland security theatres, where every resource is mobile. The resources include radios and base stations. In this paper, we have considered the MANET architecture in terms of multiple clusters with each cluster containing a set of radios and a base station or a Cluster Head (CH). The number of radios in each cluster is selected based on the tactical operation of MANET for different applications. A radio in one cluster can communicate with a radio in a different cluster. For this to occur, radio in source cluster sends data to its own Cluster Head (intra-cluster communication) and the Cluster Head sends this data to a remote Cluster Head (inter-cluster communication) and ultimately to a remote radio (intra-cluster communication). In this paper, only intra-cluster communication is considered at the IP layer and the Physical Layer, where each radio communicates with the CH. When multiple radios are communicating with the CH, there is a need to support an organized method of sending packets without any contention. This paper presents a novel Radio Access Protocol (RAP) for packet exchanges between radios and the CH. The cluster performance is derived in terms of 'effective packet transmission time' from any radio to CH while executing the access protocol. The performance in terms of delay and throughput are presented for different packet sizes. The results show that for a reasonable size of cluster, RAP achieves the throughput greater than 55 percent with minimal delay of transmission of a packet from the radio to the CH. The performance of RAP considers both the IP layer and the Physical layer and the real time system implementation of RAP is done using MATLAB / Simulink and the results are presented. © 2022 IEEE.

Extensively used in electric vehicles (EVs), lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, undergo significant degradation after several charge-discharge cycles, leading to their retirement from high-demand applications. However, these batteries can still serve fewer demanding applications in their second life. Estimating the State of Health (SoH) in second-life applications is crucial for ensuring their reliable performance. This paper presents a method for SoH estimation using a Support Vector Regression (SVR) model trained in first-life battery data and applied to second-life usage. Two health indicators, TIECVD (Time Interval of Equal Charging Voltage Difference) and TIEDVD (Time Interval of Equal Discharging Voltage Difference) are extracted from voltage measurements and used as predictors in the SVR model. The method is validated using NASA's battery ageing dataset, consisting of three batteries (B0005, B0006, and B0007) with a rated capacity of 2 Ah. The proposed model achieves RMSE values of 0.0061, 0.0158, and 0.0047 for the respective batteries during second life SoH estimation. This approach provides a practical, low-cost solution for estimating battery health in second-life applications without extensive monitoring systems. © 2025 IEEE.

In this article, a new interconnecting modular full-bridge step-up LLC resonant converter for PV energy applications is proposed. The proposed converter module is capable of regulating power flow between modules through the use of pulse-width modulation (PWM) control on a new active voltage doubler based voltage balancer (VD), where an auxiliary switch is connected to the output VD. The input full bridge switches can be regulated with phase-shift control to achieve maximum power point tracking (MPPT) for all modules. Zero-voltage switching operation is realized on all module switches. This allows each of the converter modules to achieve a high efficiency while simultaneously achieving MPPT and balanced output voltage. The steady-state and dynamic performance of the designed system is validated on a four module 6kW, 8kV-output simulation and a scaled-down 500W, 700V-output two module laboratory prototype.

In this study, a Recurrent Neural Network (RNN)- based PV controller is thoroughly examined and compared with conventional Incremental Conductance techniques for Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT). The study emphasizes the improved responsiveness and efficiency of the RNN controller and focuses on the dynamic adaptation of PV systems to changing environmental conditions. In this study, the better performance of the RNN controller in monitoring the maximum power point, its fast convergence time, and its stability under various environmental conditions are demonstrated by comprehensive simulations and comparative studies. According to the results, using cutting-edge machine learning methods, such as RNNs, may greatly increase PV systems' operational effectiveness, highlighting their potential to optimize renewable energy systems. This study offers insights that advance the realm of renewable energy technologies.

This paper presents a methodology for the creation of a synthetic combined electric and natural gas transmission network, along with representative benchmark results. The systems do not contain actual, confidential network data, but are synthetic, meaning they are built to capture the behavior of a combined network that is geographically constrained. First, natural gas loads are placed in a selected area. Work already done in building synthetic electric grids aids in this process, where the natural gas-powered generators are modeled as loads in the natural gas system. Publicly available data is then used to place the remaining gas loads and the gathering plant. Next, a method is introduced to construct a pipeline network connecting the loads and gathering plant, which acts as the source. The combined electric-gas system is then solved for the nodal pressures, pipeline flow rates, and electric state variables. A 47-node gas test case with 23 loads and 46 pipelines is built and solved in combination with a 173-bus electric system, designed to aid with developing and validating analysis techniques for combined electric-gas systems. © 2022 IEEE.

Solar irradiation fluctuations can shift the PV module's operating point away from its maximum power point (MPP). To maintain the MPP, the widely used incremental conductance (IC) method is employed as part of the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique for PV systems due to its simplicity. In this study, authors enhance the MPPT IC method by integrating a PID control scheme with fuzzy gain scheduling (FGS). Using simulations in Simulink with irradiation variations between 800-1000-800 W/m2, this study observes that the MPPT IC-PID system with FGS outperforms the conventional MPPT IC system. It significantly reduces steady-state oscillations from 5.79% to just 0.22% and shortens the average response time from 12.15ms to 1.06ms. These improvements result in increased energy production (up to 23.36 Ws) and reduced tracking error (by up to 1.05%), compared to the conventional MPPT IC system's 2.297 Ws and 9.43% tracking error. © 2023 IEEE.

Key management is considered as an essential aspect of securing cloud-based systems and data. As more organizations move their operations to cloud, the need for secure and efficient key management solutions becomes increasingly important. En-suring security of cloud computing is essential as many users often store their sensitive information with the cloud providers. Cloud service providers offer Key Management Services (KMS) to manage cryptographic keys for their customers, but there are still several challenges related to key management in cloud environments, including key storage, access control, and key rotation. Our research project aims to address these challenges by developing a secure and efficient key management solution for cloud-based systems. We propose a system that uses a combination of various cloud services and encryption algorithms to generate, store, and manage cryptographic keys securely. Our system provides granular access controls, and strong encryption to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the keys. We believe that our proposed solution will help cloud service providers and organizations to manage their cryptographic keys more efficiently and securely, reducing the risk of unauthorized access and data breaches. This research paper provides a method to effectively manage, store and share the secret key between the parties using the concept of Threshold Cryptography. © 2023 IEEE.

As the pace of technological progress quickens, artificial intelligence (AI) is rising to the forefront as a potentially game-changing breakthrough. The proliferation of AI tools like ChatGPT has significantly helped local communities everywhere. ChatGPT is one of the most widely used AI technologies, and its widespread adoption across a wide range of applications has given it a major impact on people's everyday lives. However, there are both good and bad outcomes associated with how often students use ChatGPT. The aim of this paper is to examine how using ChatGPT can affect students while they are learning. An assessment is carried out by administering a survey to the students and conducting interviews with the instructors, both of which help to pinpoint areas in which the students could use additional help. The findings of this study provide new insight into the effects of using ChatGPT in classrooms and provide a blueprint for initiatives to improve learning outcomes for students. © 2023 IEEE.
