This paper examines the demagnetization characteristics of rare earth permanent magnets (PMs) used in electric machinery. An analytical model was designed considering a controllable shape, temperature, and the external magnetic field in PMs used in the rotor of an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) for driving an electric railway vehicle (ERV). The demagnetization process was analysed based on the magnetization and demagnetization theory for PM materials in computer simulation. The result of the analysis can be used to calculate the magnetization and demagnetization phenomenon according to the input B-H curves. So, this paper presents the conditions of demagnetization by the external magnetic field in the running and stopped states and proposes a simulation method that can analyse demagnetization phenomena according to each condition and be used to design the IPMSM that maximizes efficiency and torque characteristics. MOPO-HBT: A movie poster dataset for title extraction and recognition

Real-world images often encompass embedded texts that adhere to disparate disciplines like business, education, and amusement, to name a few. Such images are graphically rich in terms of font attributes, color distribution, foreground-background similarity, and component organization. This aggravates the difficulty of recognizing texts from these images. Such characteristics are very prominent in the case of movie posters. One of the first pieces of information on movie posters is the title. Automatic recognition of movie titles from images can aid in efficient indexing as well as information conveyance. However, it is accompanied by other texts like the names of actors, producers, taglines, dates, etc. Though the organization of components is somewhat similar across different film industries like Tollywood (West Bengal), Bollywood (Mumbai), and Hollywood (Los Angeles), the graffiti patterns differ in multifarious instances. To address the problem of movie title understanding, we propose a dataset named MOvie POsters-Hollywood Bollywood Tollywood (MOPO-HBT) that encompasses movie posters from the aforementioned industries. The entire dataset is publicly available (http://***/11564) for research purposes. The baseline results of title identification and recognition were obtained with a CNN-based (Convolutional Neural Network) approach, wherein the titles were extracted using the M-EAST (Modified-Efficient and Accurate Scene Text) detector model. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2023.

VGIS (Virtual Geographic Information System) Platform is a unified oilfield operations management platform based on MaaS (Management as a Service) that integrates advanced technologies such as AIoT (Artificial Intelligence & Internet of Things), GIS (Geographic Information System), Digital Twin, and AR (Augmented Reality)/ VR (Virtual Reality). The VGIS platform connects, collects, integrates, analyses, and acts on disparate data sources to provide the oilfield with a centralized view to help make informed decisions fast, bring operational visibility across all assets to improve safety and operational efficiency, reduce costs and improve margins, provide comprehensive analytics and decision support, increase business agility, and reduce management complexity. This is a case study of the application of the VGIS platform Majnoon oilfield, Basrah, Iraq. VGIS digital transformation, production process, and KPIs (Key performance indicators) are highly managed taking oilfield management to a higher level globally, in this study, the objective is to address and resolve the issue of high costs associated with using cloud services by utilising a local Data Center (a large group of networked computer servers typically used by organizations for the remote storage, processing, or distribution of large amounts of data). This approach involves directly uploading 3D maps to ensure faster service on the intranet, eliminating the need to pay for cloud *** aims providing a platform for researching and implementing monitoring and controlling processes in a more convenient and remote manner. The vGIS platform has emerged as a crucial instrument in the realm of disaster response and crisis management. This technology enables responders to rapidly evaluate, analyse, and respond to crucial information in real-time. This paper analyses the implementation of modern remedial measures to current, and voltage distortion problems generated by power nonlinear industrial loads. For these types of heavily polluted consumers, traditional solutions such as passive or hybrid filters are not suited. Consequently, the active harmonic filters (AHF) are the only pieces of equipment to be considered. Their proper selection is attained only after performing an adequate power quality audit of the main electric parameters at the main low voltage switchboards. The paper presents an AHF-based solution for nonlinear industrial load which reduces the current and voltage harmonics. To address the premature convergence and search stagnation of arithmetic optimization algorithm (AOA), the paper proposes a hybrid arithmetic optimization algorithm (HAOA) and applies it to the practical robot path planning (RPP) problem. In initialization phase, the chaotic mechanism is used to create high-quality individuals. In evolution phase, the stochastic disturbance method is applied to enhance the exchange of information between different individuals. The solution space information around the candidate solution was integrated by Levy flight to enhance gene diversity and enhance search performance. In order to better solver the RPP problem, the Spline interpolation method is adapted to the HAOA algorithm for path optimization, so as to smooth the path curve and ensure the planning accuracy. Finally, numeric experiments of benchmark functions and RPP instances verify HAOA’s excellent performance in accuracy and robustness. This research shows arithmetic optimization algorithm can quickly find the global optimal solution, and has fast convergence speed and accuracy. © 2024, Politechnica University of Bucharest. In order to cope with the current climate crisis, reducing greenhouse gas emissions is an important issue, and it is necessary to increase the amount of renewable energy generation. However, there is a problem of economics in renewable energy, and in the case of the Republic of Korea, there is a problem of geographical mismatch between the supply and demand of renewable energy. This study proposes building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) as a way to solve the problems associated with renewable energy. In this study, a model for charging an electric bus by the power generated by building integrated photovoltaics was proposed, evaluated and analyzed. The results show that BIPV can generate revenue of KRW 39.9 billion over 30 years and can contribute to increasing the amount of renewable energy generation in Seoul by accounting for 1.85% of the annual solar power generation in Seoul. © 2024 Korean Institute of electrical Engineers. The new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which triggered the COVID-19 pandemic, has had an unparalleled effect on economies, cultures, and world health. In response to the critical need for strict COVID-19 screening systems in public areas, this study presents a creative Secured Entry Control system. Detecting and controlling possible COVID-19 carriers attempting to enter the country is made possible by this system, which makes use of deep learning algorithms and IoT technology. The mask detection algorithm, MobileNetV2 model, has an exceptional validation accuracy of 98.96\%. The model's reliability is supported by performance evaluations using ROC curves, confusion matrix analysis, and an AUC value of 98.96\%, which is close to the optimal AUC score of 100\%. Because MobileNetV2 is well-suited for low-processing devices, it is easy to deploy it on Raspberry Pi, which helps to create an affordable system. Furthermore, by spotting increased body temperatures, a contactless temperature sensor improves the system's ability to identify possible COVID-19 carriers. The functioning of the system is confirmed by the working prototype that is presented in the Experimental Results section. The main goal of this research is to create an autonomous system that is affordable and selectively allows access to people who are less likely to transmit COVID-19 in public areas. To achieve the overall objective of reducing the spread of COVID-19 in public spaces, this research highlights the successful integration of mask identification algorithms and IoT. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a novel method for masked comparison using register rotation technique without masking conversions. In key encapsulation mechanisms (KEMs), ciphertext comparison is essential to ensure the security, but it is one of the most computationally expensive operations in masking environment. Previous works on masked ciphertext comparison have mainly focused on masking conversion and its post-processing. However, the proposed method introduces another register-based approach, which eliminates the need for time-consuming masking conversion and solely relies on register rotation using Chinese remainder theorem (CRT). © 2024 IEEE.

Life cycle cost (LCC) analysis is crucial for estimating total cost of system constructions across various industries, especially defense, aerospace, railways where products are complex and long-lasting. A significant challenge in LCC modeling lies in the limited availability of reliable life-cycle data, leading to uncertainties in system specifications, estimation methods, and scenario analysis. Despite the existence of historical construction data, inherent uncertainties often restrict their direct use. In projects like catenary system construction for railways, LCC is heavily influenced by project length, with material costs being one of the most deterministic elements compared to other cost factors. This paper proposes a novel cost element coefficients method to facilitate the estimation of total construction costs. Our method leverages historical data and addresses uncertainties, providing a practical tool for LCC analysis in railway projects. Copyright © The Korean Institute of electrical Engineers.

This document is a model with an accurate estimation of the battery’s State Of Charge (SOC), which is pivotal for prime performance and optimal lifespan of the rechargeable batteries. Though traditional methods, like Open Circuit Voltage (OCV) and Coulomb Counting (CC), are advantageous, they suffer from several limitations, such as sensitivity to temperature changes, frequent calibration, ageing effects, and measurement inaccuracies. This paper proposes 1-D Kalman Filter (1-D HKF) with an approach that incorporates the OCV and CC results into the state space model for better and more accurate SOC estimation. So, the model is called 1-D HKF or Hybrid Kalman filter that, influenced the long-term stability and estimation accuracy of CC and the accuracy of OCV at specific points to get over the individual limitations. The model trained by 1-D HKF adapts itself and adjusts the gain based on the uncertainties of each measured value to ensure optimal value information. So, We evaluate the performance of the 1-D HKF versus the traditional methods Kalman Filter using examples and exploratory data. The proposed approach illustrates significantly improved accuracy and robustness across various operating conditions, including varying temperatures and discharge rates. © 2024 IEEE.
