Canonical correlation analysis (CCA) is a classical statistical tool that enables processing of multiview data in a plethora signal processing, machine learning and data mining applications, by identifying a common linear subspace from the available data views. Most algorithms tackling the CCA task require all the data per view to be available. Nevertheless, in many cases, data are not available in batch form and may arrive in streaming fashion. This work puts forth a novel, computationally efficient, projection based method for identifying and updating the common subspace on-the-fly, as new data arrive, while retaining its' fidelity. Preliminary numerical tests, on synthetic and real data benchmarks, showcase the potential of the proposed method. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents novel sub-harmonic synchronous machines having series or parallel permanent magnet structures on rotors for better performance in terms of greater torque density. The stator of the machines has two sets of three-phase winding, where the additional winding is used to generate sub-harmonic magnetomotive force components for brushless operation. Similar to the stator, the rotor of them uses an additional winding to induce that sub-harmonic component. Rotor also uses a permanent magnet to improve machine performance in series or parallel hybrid structures having conventional or consequent pole permanent magnet structures. In this paper, 4 different rotors, 3 having hybrid excitation, are used and their performance is compared. To validate the performance, a 2D finite element analysis of 8 poles and 48 slots of sub-harmonic synchronous machines is carried out with different rotors. Finally, the wide-speed operation of the proposed machine is discussed. © 2023 IEEE.

Qualitative approach for automated grading and quality assessment of fruits, machine learning techniques are crucial in agricultural applications. Automation enhances a nation's agricultural quality, production, and economic prosperity. Fruit quality grading, particularly the surface fault identification of a fruit, is a crucial indicator in the export market. This is particularly important for mangoes, which are quite well-liked inBangladesh. On the other hand, the physical grading of mangoes is a procedure that is labor-intensive, prone to error, and very subjective. In this paper, we proposed a YOLOv7 integrated Discrete wave transformation computer vision system. The proposed model includes support vector machine (SVM) and decision tree for the classification of high-quality mangoes. The results of the experiments show that the proposed solution obtained 96.25% accuracy when the system was trained and tested using a publicly accessible mango database. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, to expand a control bandwidth of AC servo motor, a new current vector control considering an output delay of PWM Inverter is proposed. The proposed current control is a I-P control with an additional feedback gain, which is based on an extended state feedback consisted from a d-q motor model, the output delay of PWM inverter and an integrator of ACR. In addition, the proposed method is easy to implement to the existing AC servo system. The effectiveness of proposed method is validated in a computer simulation and an experiments using a 3.7 kW class motor test bench. In the condition that a cut-off frequency of ACR is close to a carrier frequency, the simulation results show that the proposed method dramatically improves the current response at the higher cut-off frequency. Moreover, the experimental results show that the proposed method dramatically improves the current response at each operating point. From the results, the proposed method is effective to the expand the bandwidth of AC servo motor. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a novel approach to analyze and optimize healthcare systems based on clinical pathways, using timed continuous Petri nets (TCPNs) under infinite server semantics. TCPNs allow for an efficient continuous-time analysis of the patient flow and resource utilization dynamics of these types of systems. We demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of our method through a case study of a hip fracture pathway at the "Lozano Blesa"University Clinical Hospital, in Zaragoza Spain. Additionally, we propose a method to optimize the behavior of the modeled system by taking a control theory approach, which enables the system to achieve maximum throughput more efficiently. Finally, we provide simulation results to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller in practical settings. © 2023 IEEE.

Power system fault analysis is a process that establishes the bus voltages and line currents when various fault types occur. Three-phase balanced faults and unbalanced faults are two categories of power system faults. Single line-to-ground, line-to-line, and double line-to-ground faults are three different types of unbalanced faults that can occur on transmission lines for power systems. Fault analysis is used to choose and set the proper protective devices and switchgear. Determining the bus voltages and line currents is critical while investigating power system issues. Numerous mathematical calculation techniques are shown in the process, which is challenging to do by hand. The calculation can be performed quickly on a computer using a Simulink created using MATLAB. However, an error occurs when inverting an extensive bus system's Y-bus to Z-bus in the conventional short circuit study;this paper offers a solution that is solved using 'MATLAB SIMULINK' to reduce error. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper proposes a novel topology for grid-connected microinverter system. The topology consists of a single-leg multi-mode converter (SLMMC) and a single-phase inverter which form the proposed microinverter. The SLMMC is responsible for regulating the intermediate DC link voltage, charging an internal battery, and managing the power sharing between the source and the battery. Moreover, the single-phase inverter is connected to the intermediate DC link voltage from one side and performs supporting functions on the grid's side. The proposed topology provides multiple advantages over the existing solutions, including reduced number of components, reduced size, and higher efficiency as the number of required elements reduced. The proposed system is implemented using MATLAB/Simulink, and various investigations are carried out to demonstrate the correctness of the proposed solution. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper focuses on addressing the challenge of estimating multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels for wireless communication between a ground base-station and a moving vehicle. One recently recognised model for time-varying channels incorporates spatial selectivity, which is referred to as beam squint, and is particularly relevant in the millimeter-wave (mmWave) range. In such scenarios, it is essential to account for the beam squint when attempting to recover channel parameters using a training sequence. However, the use of a training sequence alone may be insufficient for this purpose. To overcome this issue, in this work, we propose a channel estimation approach that exploits information provided by the control module of the vehicle, namely its velocity. The estimation problem that is designed, regards the channel both in a parametric and a non-parametric form and the alternating direction method of multipliers is utilised to efficiently solve it. It is demonstrated via simulations that considerable gains can be achieved if information from the control unit of the vehicle can be appropriately introduced and exploited. © 2023 European Signal Processing Conference, EUSIPCO. There is a significant interest and demand for robust sensor systems that can accurately monitor important parameters such as temperature, strain, pressure, corrosion, and gas presence, concentrations, and type, under high-temperature (HT) harsh-environment (HE) conditions. Surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensors can respond to this demand and have a major advantage of being able to carry out wireless passive multi-sensor operation in such environments. Thus, the HT HE SAW wireless technology can respond to novel applications in areas such as the energy sector, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing. This invited paper reviews key aspects and challenges related to the HT HE SAW sensor technology relevant to the industry sectors listed above, including materials, devices, packaging, and wireless interrogation systems. Selected past and recent implementation successes of wireless SAW-based sensor technology within relevant HT HE test-bed applications are presented, including power plants, turbine engines, and composite material manufacturing. © 2023 IEEE.
