According to the application research in the inf.rmation system and the rules of construction on domain ontology, this paper proposed the conception of adding the financial domain ontology to the existing public sentiment monitoring system for financial securities and built the system architecture based on ontology to resolve the problems such as the integration of heterogeneous data, domain inf.rmation sharing, the communication among netizens by using different terminology, the intelligence of providing public sentiment and the phenomenon of noise, which laid the foundation of realizing the artificial intelligence technology. With the help of the existing system, the paper focused on introducing the construction and formation of domain ontology and describing the integration between domain ontology and system, based on which a semantic system would be formed and the final result would be predicted. © 2010 IEEE.

It is well known that the realization of enormous capacity of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels depends greatly on the accuracy of channel estimation at the receiver. And the problem of pilot or training design is crucial to channel estimation. In this paper, the optimal pilot sequences and the optimal length of pilot-OFDM symbols are discussed. The optimizing process of pilot design consists of two phases. First, by minimizing the channel estimation error, the initial optimal pilot sequences are designed to exploit full inf.rmation of channel correlation under the criterion of Minimum Normalized Mean Square Error (MNMSE) of the frequency domain, and at the same time, the optimal length of pilot-OFDM symbols for various range of SNR is also concluded. Secondly, in view of restraining the peak-to-average energy ratio (PAR) of the pilot-OFDM signal, the final optimal pilot sequences are obtained by choosing a unit complex-value sequence with lower aperiodic autocorrelation and using the initial optimal pilot sequences. Simulations show that the channel correlation is helpful to decrease the MNMSE of channel estimation and the designed optimal pilot sequences present great superiority in PAR-constraining. © 2010 IEEE.

The Coarse-Grained Monte Carlo (CGMC) method is a multi-scale stochastic mathematical and simulation framework for spatially distributed systems. CGMC simulations are important tools for studying phenomena such as catalysis, crystal growth, surface diffusion, phase transitions on single crystals, and cell membrane receptor dynamics. In parallel CGMC, the tau-leap method is usedfor parallel simulations that are executed on traditional CPU clusters in a master-slave setting. Unfortunately the communications between master and slaves negatively impact speedup and scalability. In this paper, we explore the potentials of GPUs for the tau-leap method and we present an extensive performance evaluation that leads to the most suitable degree of parallelism for this method under different simulation profiles. We show how the efficient parallelization of the tau-leap method for GPUs includes (1) the redefinition of its data structures, (2) the redesign of its algorithm, and (3) the selection of the most appropriate degree of parallelism (i.e., ine-grained or course-gained) on a single GPU or multiple GPUs. Exceptional performance improvements can thus be achieved for this method. © 2010 IEEE.

Fires or toxic gas leakages may have grave consequences like significant pecuniary loss or even lead to human victims. In this paper we present an autonomous wireless sensor system for early fire and gas leak detection. The system consists of two modules: a gas sensor module and a power management module. The operation of the gas sensor module is based on the pyrolysis product detection which makes it possible to detect fire before inf.ammation. In addition, the on board gas sensor can identify the type of leaking gas. A generic energy scavenging module, able to handle both alternating current and direct current based ambient energy sources, provides the power supply for the gas sensor module. The harvested energy is stored in two energy buffers of different kind, and is delivered to the sensor node in accordance to an efficient energy supply switching algorithm. At the end of the paper we demonstrate the experimental results on gas detection, energy consumption evaluation, and show how to ensure the system autonomous operation. © 2010 ACM.

Classical recommender systems provide users with a list of recommendations where each recommendation consists of a single item, e.g., a book or DVD. However, several applications can benefit from a system capable of recommending packages of items, in the form of sets. Sample applications include travel planning with a limited budget (price or time) and twitter users wanting to select worthwhile tweeters to follow given that they can deal with only a bounded number of tweets. In these contexts, there is a need for a system that can recommend top-k packages for the user to choose from. Motivated by these applications, we consider composite recommendations, where each recommendation comprises a set of items. Each item has both a value (rating) and a cost associated with it, and the user specifies a maximum total cost (budget) for any recommended set of items. Our composite recommender system has access to one or more component recommender systems focusing on different domains, as well as to inf.rmation sources which can provide the cost associated with each item. Because the problem of generating the top recommendation (package) is NP-complete, we devise several approximation algorithms for generating top-k packages as recommendations. We analyze their efficiency as well as approximation quality. Finally, using two real and two synthetic data sets, we subject our algorithms to thorough experimentation and empirical analysis. Our findings attest to the efficiency and quality of our approximation algorithms for top-k packages compared to exact algorithms. Copyright 2010 ACM.

This article redesigns appraising index and improves its model, since current c2c business credit evaluation index and evaluation model are single standard and easy to calculate. Buyers evaluate sellers on inf.rmation veracity, production quality, service satisfaction and goods delivery. In order to attract buyers to participate in the evaluation, sellers will set incentive mechanism and evaluation index will be designed into questionnaire and be provided to buyers. Credit evaluation model are improved by combining questionnaire score, transaction amount, rate of positive assessments, seller's credit together into consideration. The new evaluation system will enhance satisfaction of buyers and reliability of seller's credit grade. © 2010 IEEE.

Many biologically motivated problems are expressed as dynamic programming recurrences and are difficult to parallelize due to the intrinsic data dependencies in their algorithms. Therefore their solutions have been sped up using task level parallelism only. Emerging platforms such as GPUs are appealing parallel architectures for high-performance;at the same time they are a motivation to rethink the algorithms associated with these problems, to extract finergrained parallelism such as data parallelism. In this paper, we consider the hmmersearch program as a representative of these problems and we re-design its computational algorithm to extract data parallelism for a more efficient execution on emerging platforms, despite the fact that hmmersearch has data dependencies. Our approach outperforms other existing methods when searching a very large database of unsorted sequences on GPUs. Copyright © 2010 ACM.

In this paper, we propose a new object detection method that does not need a learning mechanism. Given a hand-drawn model as a query, we can detect and locate objects that are similar to the query model in cluttered images. To ensure the invariance with respect to rotation, scaling, and translation (RST), high curvature points (HCPs) on edges are detected first .Each pair of HCPs is then used to determine a circular region and all edge pixels covered by the circular region are transformed into a polar histogram. Finally, we use these local descriptors to detect and locate similar objects within any images. The experiment results show that the proposed method outperforms the existing state-of-the-art work. © 2010 IEEE.

The advent of general purpose graphics processing units (GPGPU's) brings about a whole new platform for running numerically intensive applications at high speeds. Their multi-core architectures enable large degrees of parallelism via a massively multi-threaded environment. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are particularly well-suited for GPU's because their computations are easily parallelizable. Significant performance improvements are observed when single precision floating-point arithmetic is used. However, this performance comes at the cost of accuracy: it is widely acknowledged that constant-energy (NVE) MD simulations accumulate errors as the simulation proceeds due to the inherent errors associated with integrators used for propagating the coordinates. A consequence of this numerical integration is the drift of potential energy as the simulation proceeds. Double precision arithmetic partially corrects this drifting, but is signiicantly slower than single precision, comparable to CPU performance. To address this problem, we extend the approaches of previous literature to improve numerical reproducibility and stability in MD simulations, while assuring eficiency and performance comparable to that when using the GPU hardware implementation of single precision arithmetic. We present development of a library of mathematical functions that use fast and eficient algorithms to ix the error produced by the equivalent operations performed by GPU. We successfully validate the library with a suite of synthetic codes emulating the MD behavior on GPUs. © 2010 IEEE.

Requirements engineering (RE) for self-adaptive systems (SAS) is an emerging research area. The key features of such systems are to be aware of the changes in both their operating and external environments, while simultaneously remaining aware of their users' goals and preferences. This is accomplished by evaluating such changes and adapting to a suitable alternative that can satisfy those changes in the context of the user goals. Most current RE languages do not consider this 'reflective' and online component of requirements models. In this paper, we propose a new framework for building SAS that is goal- and user-oriented. We sketch a framework to enable continuous adaptive requirements engineering (CARE) for SAS that leverage requirements-aware systems and exploits the Techne modeling language and reasoning system. We illustrate our framework by showing how it can handle an adaptive scenario in the travel domain. © 2010 IEEE.
