Websites and social media sites offer opportunities to museums to extend their audience and raise the level of participants' engagement. Greek museums, especially in major cities, use social media to communicate and provide all the necessary information to visitors. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the use of social media and the use of a website can facilitate the promotion of museums and inform potential visitors. The research focuses on Greek archaeological museums and aims to shed light to the social media scenery in 2019, before the advent of COVID-19 and just after the end of the COVID-19 decease, trying to investigate if there are any differences between the two periods. © 2024 IEEE.

This article examines the role of hashtags in Social Networks during periods of social mobilization. Although such platforms have been used in the past to organize demonstrations, in recent years, citizens' response to the invitation to participate in demonstrations through hashtags is much greater. The base of the theoretical study is the theory of the network society, developed by the Spanish sociologist Manuel Castells. Our research focuses on the use of hashtags on Twitter during four periods of protests in Greece. In this context, we analyzed more than 4.000 tweets at the content and user level, to identify developing trends and attitudes. The article argues that technology revolutionized social movements in Greece, as Twitter was used to mobilize and organize protest activities and as a means of political communication among users. © 2023 IEEE.

Social Media has become an integral part of communication for Greeks, as it has for people around the world. These platforms offer a plenty of benefits but are increasingly vulnerable to cybercrime. As our reliance on social media grows, so does our exposure to cybersecurity risks. The present study aimed to investigate, through an online questionnaire, the perceptions of Greek internet users regarding cybersecurity threats, the precautions they take, and their expectations from the European Union on cybersecurity matters. The study found that cybersecurity concerns everyone, regardless of gender, age or educational level. This highlights the need for targeted awareness campaigns that address the specific needs and concerns of different user groups. © 2024 IEEE.

The feature selection approach (FSA) has lately emerged as a critical method for enhancing accuracy in several disciplines, including e-learning. Since the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the education system in Iraq has diversified its methods to cope with the circumstances, and thus, the positive and negative aspects of e-learning in Iraq are revealed. In this study, we developed a hybrid model that predicts how to rely on a blended learning system during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. A hybrid model was implemented in MATLAB environment that suggested to optimize the support vector machine algorithm in blended e-learning. This hybrid model combines neighborhood component analysis and chi-square statistic. The proposed model demonstrated that platform influence is the most important factor in the e-learning field. It includes high-ranking features, such as adequacy of the virtual environment, a platform that provides sufficient tools for the user, user interest to learn new platforms, obligating students to attend, and having computer skills. The current work was compared with [11], which employed the SVM classification method, using the same datasets. The prediction accuracy of proposed work was better than that of the previous finding. The main goal of proposed work is to obtain a better optimization model than pervious finding by decreasing model error. The Error results was successfully reduced to 0.00012294. © 2022 IEEE.

Based on one of the fundamental principles of the educational model of the European Higher Education Area concerning the development of the capacity to achieve lifelong learning, this project has been developed in which a set of active teaching activities have been implemented for the acquisition of key competences in the challenge of achieving one of the most important goals that any educational system must provide: lifelong learning, thereby facilitating the incorporation of new university graduates into the world of work. This project has been implemented on the subject of Power Electronics. However, to facilitate the transfer to other subjects, the catalogue of active teaching activities is sufficiently varied to make it easy to extrapolate and use in other subjects, thanks to the fact that teachers have a wide variety of activities to choose from the set. Finally, a survey has been drawn to evaluate this new active methodology's satisfaction, impact and improvement to know the students' perspectives once they have worked with this catalogue of activities. © 2022 IEEE.

The emergence of cloud computing technology has motivated a very high number of users in different organizations to access its services in running and delivering their various operations and services. However, this surge of cloud users has led to the problem of uneven load sharing among the cloud computing infrastructures. As a result, federated cloud infrastructure was initiated to provide more cloud computing resources to accommodate more cloud users' requests and also to provide equal requests mapping with the available cloud resources. Nevertheless, the issue of unequal allocation of requests within the datacenter(s) that makes up the federated cloud environment still persists. This research work presents an intra-datacenter load balancing algorithm in a federated cloud environment named;the intra-balancer adapted throttled algorithm to evenly distribute requests in each datacenter that formulate the federated cloud infrastructures. The simulation of the intra-balancer was carried out in CloudAnalyst, the results of the implementation showed that the intra-balancer outperformed the Round-Robin and ESCE with 98.93ms and 2.26ms for the response and processing time respectively. The results assert that the intra-balancer algorithm provides a better load balancing solution in a federated cloud environment. © 2024 IEEE.

The optical relaying networks (ORN) on free-space optical (FSO) communications give beneficial prospect in the development to reach the last mile users in the order of tenth kilometer. However, the ORN on FSO that is configured in many nodes of transmission has a major drawback. This major problem is risen by the induce of turbulence effects in every node that degrades the performance of system. In this work, the reception of signal by the receiver system in the ORN on FSO is investigated. We propose a method of noise filtering in the output of photodetector in order to enhance the performance of system. The proposed method is intended to enhance the performance for application of wavelength division multiplexing signal on the ORN on FSO. Four types of filters are investigated which are Gaussian-, Butterworth-, Bessel- and Chebyshev-filter. Two modulation formats of signal also implemented which are non-return to zero and return to zero. From the results of simulation, noise filtering through low-pass filter in the output of photodetector has the capability to improve the performance of bit-error-rate (BER) in the range value of 10-1 to 10-3 in comparison with non-filtering setup. ©2021 IEEE

Telemedicine provides a means to transcend time, geographic and cultural barriers in the delivery of healthcare services. It is also a great tool for the realization of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs No. 3) in ensuring healthy lives and promotion of well-being for all, at all ages. However, despite its obvious benefits, most developing countries especially in Sub-Saharan Africa are still lagging behind in the adoption of telemedicine for their citizenry. This article reviews the past and present practice of telemedicine, the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on the growth of telemedicine, and its potential to solve healthcare challenges in developing nations. This study establishes that despite the plethora of solutions offered by telemedicine, its slow adoption in most developing countries in Sub-Saharan Africa could be attributed to: the high initial cost of its establishment, unavailability of reliable internet connection, irregular power supply and resistance to new technology and approaches. © 2022 IET Conference Proceedings. Thailand has played a major role in exporting rice in the international market. However, the system for supporting career development and lifelong learning of rice farmers living in rural areas had not been well developed. Therefore, we developed an e-learning system with social-media-based communications for those in the Upper Northeastern Thailand (the poorest region). Results show that a majority of farmers who used the developed e-learning system answered that they were satisfied with their learning experience. Our study highlights the importance of the local contexts and local needs, which can be incorporated upon the developing an education tool. © 2021 IEEE
