Nowadays, computer-assisted learning (CAL) has experienced a significant increase in demand for self-learning purposes with the mechanism of automated assistance to facilitate assessments and provide instant feedback to learners. Using automatic testing, test cases can be executed repeatedly, providing informative feedback to assist students in correcting the written code referring to the assignment specifications. This research experiences an automated testing mechanism in an Android programming self-learning system to serve several important functions for learning experience enhancement. By adopting the TDD method and utilizing automatic software testing tools, the testing process combines unit testing with JUnit and integration testing with Robolectric. It ensures the quality and functionality of the application under test based on learning assignment's specifications. Utilizing the assertion methods realizes the code verification referring to expected behavior and potentially produces informative feedback that can be captured to provide automated assistance. Evaluation through the test code implementation in the Basic Application learning topic shows that automatic testing tools cover the automated assistance feature in the validations of project configuration and UI components. © 2023 IEEE.

Predictions in financial markets have attracted much of scholars' interest. Since the stock market is generally defined as dynamic and volatile due to the affect of the well-known "Internet of Things"(IoT). It is a fact that IoT significantly impacts the financial market and stocks in various ways. Therefore, numerous researchers have attempted to detect patterns regarding the way financial markets react to various external factors. In the last decade, the integration of machine learning and sentiment analysis has appeared to be an effective approach for improving IoT-based stock price predictions in the financial field. This paper intends to propose an approach involving financial news as a source of information for forecasting the stock movement of noteworthy IoT-related companies, employing Big Data Analytics (BDA), Machine Learning, and Sentiment Analysis methods as well. A comparative analysis is conducted between lexicon-based and machine learning-based methods of sentiment analysis about their performance, particularly in the domain of IoT-related stock market prediction. © 2024 IEEE.

The bilingual thesaurus of Uzbek-English adjectives is a field that has not been studied well explored yet for machine translation. Several websites and electronic dictionaries created nearby show that not enough semantically close adjectives are included in them. Despite extensive research on the meaning the adjectives in both languages, there remains a lack of understanding about the relationship between the adjective itself and the noun, which has an absolutely new connotation in collaboration. Our result shows that a recent bilingual thesaurus demonstrates how one adjective could acquire numerous new synonyms while combining with different nouns. The meanings of words, in both languages have been extensively studied, Little is understood about the dynamic connection between these words and the nouns they describe. The complexity of how adjectives pair with nouns is evident in how this relationship leads to meanings and connotations. Our study aims to bridge this gap by demonstrating how a bilingual thesaurus can capture the meanings and variations of adjectives when combined with nouns. The findings indicate that depending on the noun it accompanies a contemporary bilingual thesaurus can generate synonyms, for a single adjective. © 2024 IEEE.

Among all the image contrast enhancement methods, histogram equalization is the most widely used. However, conventional histogram equalization causes the entire image to be too bright, resulting in noise generation as a consequence of excessive brightness changes and information loss when the histogram is intensively distributed into a specific amount of brightness. The Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) algorithm is designed to address these limitations. To avoid overamplifying brightness variations, CLAHE clips the histogram of an input image to make it uniformly distributed. This study employs the CLAHE algorithm to improve contrast in chest radiographs, with the expected result that lung disease diagnosis will be more accurate. © 2023 IEEE.

In the age of the Internet of Things, numerous devices of diverse characteristics are communicating with each other. The underlying networks supporting those communications can either use some sort of infrastructure or implement an ad hoc network. For the latter type of networks and depending on the application requirements, Topology-Transparent TDMA MAC policies can be considered as they are inherently suited for dynamic and unstructured topologies. However, such TDMA-based schemes may suffer from low throughput performance, especially in sparse networks, where a significant portion of available time slots remains unused. To address this challenge, a Topology-Transparent TDMA MAC policy is revisited in this paper, which utilizes unused slots by allowing nodes to transmit in them under a common and fixed probability p. Additionally, an improvement is proposed, where every node can calculate its own individual access probability based on information gathered from its local neighborhood. Simulation results demonstrate that the use of the individual access probability leads to improved performance in terms of system throughput. Moreover, the requirement for assigning a value to probability p during the network initialization is relaxed, as this value is now calculated dynamically and distributively during the network operation. © 2022 IEEE.

In this work we present modeling and optimally solving a timetabling problem that was given as a compulsory assignment to students attending an Operations Research course. The project aimed at introducing Integer Programming in a problem that used enrollments of the students themselves to individual courses and aimed at minimizing, in a balanced manner, commute time needed for attending lessons. Students were given a problem that was familiar to them and nontrivial to be solved optimally. In the process, modern commercial and open source Integer Programming solvers were used. More importantly, modeling skills were acquired and the benefits of approaching hard problems using solvers employing exact algorithms was demonstrated. © 2022 IEEE.

The research aimed to explore the utilisation of artificial intelligence (AI) in the writing activities of the online student program at one university in Indonesia. A quantitative research design with a survey approach was used, and a questionnaire was used as the data collection technique. The questionnaire used a Likert Scale of five, from totally-agree to not-agree. There were fourteen statements in the questionnaire. 50 online students became the respondents of the research. The data showed that there were four main findings. First, the respondents came from very different backgrounds, ages and majors. Second, most respondents have used AI in the learning process for over 2 years and were aware of technology, including AI. Third, AI helped the respondents in many ways with their writing process such as improving their article quality, increasing the speed of writing scientific articles, improving the quality of research in scientific articles, overcoming difficulties in writing the articles, reducing errors in writing scientific articles, and analyzing relevant resources in scientific articles. Finally, the respondents also worried that AI could replace the role of human writers in writing scientific articles. They also feared that AI could reduce the authenticity or originality of scientific articles. © 2024 IEEE.

Due to the increase in population accompanied by the expansive growth of urban residential areas, the demand for efficient and reliable water distribution systems has increased rapidly. And as urbanisation increases day by day this demand for water is equal to the need for sustainable water management and distribution systems. Thus, it becomes an utmost necessity for the implementation of proper controlling and monitoring mechanisms to prevent wastage of water and also attempts of water theft. As a solution to these challenges, many advanced technologies have been identified all over the world to ensure effective distribution of water to reach every household especially in urban areas. Therefore, my paper estimates and understands the current state of automated water distribution systems with a prime focus on monitoring performance and control through PLC (programmable logic controller) applications. In the initial areas of this paper, it focuses on the basic concept of automatic water distribution that has been implemented in the current scenario in urban areas. This study includes thorough research on the details of the system, how it is operated, its principles, and intended functions. The next stage of research will be focussed on a comparative analysis of various technologies that have been studied and implemented in the field of automated water distribution. This paper shows key innovations, challenges and future goals in the realm of automated water distribution. It also shows the possibility for the integration of PLC systems, discussing how efficiently these systems contribute to the optimization of the water distribution process. Thus, proving PLC systems plays a crucial role in improving the overall performance and sustainability of water distribution systems by monitoring real-time data. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper investigates the applicability of the Pro-jection onto Convex Set (POCS)-based clustering algorithm to image compression tasks. The POCS-based clustering approach treats all data points in a given dataset as non-intersecting convex sets and performs POCS-based parallel projections from each cluster prototype onto corresponding member data points to minimize an objective function and update cluster prototypes. The POCS-based clustering algorithm has been proven to be able to yield promising results against other prevailing clustering approaches in terms of convergence time and clustering error on general clustering tasks. In this study, a comparison of various clustering schemes for image compression applications has been conducted. The evaluations and analyses on various standard test images verify that the POCS-based clustering algorithm can perform competitively against other conventional clustering methods in image compression problems. © 2024 IEEE.

An overview of the use of Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) in computer vision-image synthesis and manipulation-is given in this study. A generator and a discriminator are two complex neural networks that are trained in competition to form GANs. Owing to the formidable capabilities of deep neural networks and their adversarial training approach, GANs exhibit the ability to generate realistic and plausible images, thereby demonstrating remarkable prowess across various applications in the realm of image synthesis and manipulation. This survey paper delves into recent GAN-related research. Working on the progressive GANs model technique, the authors find out how capable it is compared to other GANs algorithms. Building an image synthesis Progressive Generative Adversarial Networks (ProGANs) is a complex process with several steps that work together to produce high-quality pictures. © 2025 IEEE.
