Empirical Validation of Fuzzy Logic Based Predictive Load Scheduling in Mimic Home Energy Management System

Load scheduling plays a vital role in the home energy management systems. The main objective of this load scheduling is to balance the power demand and supply power without degrading the performance of the loads and consumers tolerance. Though many research works concentrate on load scheduling, very few works concentrated on real time scenario. On the other hand, research work concentrated on optimal load scheduling through fuzzy logic requires incorporation of fuzzy based system in either simulated or real-time home energy management system. Hence, the proposal aims to schedule the loads in a simulated home energy management system through fuzzy logic controller using MATLAB Simscape with required subsystems. The proposed simulated environment considers four different resistive loads. Intelligent scheduling is aimed to achieve efficient load scheduling. A fuzzy controller has three inputs namely integrated source, state of charge of battery, and power demand whereas probability of scheduling is considered as output. The efficiency of the proposed fuzzy-based load scheduling scheme is evaluated under various load conditions for different sub-systems with varying input power. This paper presents the characteristic mode analysis(CMA) of wideband patch antenna using dual-mode resonances. CMA is used to analyze the fundamental resonance modes of square patch antenna. It has two fundamental modes of TM01 and TM10 modes. The patch is excited using aperture coupling to excite both horizontal and vertical mode. The slot aperture length and width is optimized for better coupling. The vertical mode resonance frequency is slightly reduced by introducing the slot. These two modes combined together gives the wide bandwidth. An impedance bandwidth of 47.12%(1.93GHz-3.12GHz) is obtained. The antenna is well radiated with both modes being radiation efficiency of above 90%. The realized peak gain of 5.72dBi and 4.62dBi is obtained at 2.12GHz and 2.83GHz and good radiation pattern in the broadside direction. The cross polarization level of more than -10dB is achieved with respect to co-polarization level at resonance frequency of 2.12GHz and 2.83GHz respectively and it is suitable for WiFi and Bluetooth applications. © 2024 IEEE.

Gliomas account for approximately 80% of all malignant brain tumors and are associated with the most unfavourable survival rates amongst all brain tumor types. Segmenting these tumors is integral to evaluating their dimensions and morphology, formulating tailored treatment plans, and estimating patients' life expectancy. Various approaches for brain tumor segmentation have been proposed, yet the model described herein stands out, offering promising results in this vital task. A comprehensive examination of three eminent convolutional neural network (CNN) models, namely Resnext50, Resnet50, and InceptionV3, was conducted, each characterised by its own unique structural framework. The enhancement of the segmentation approach's effectiveness was a focal point, leading to the exploration of ensemble modeling. This approach leverages the collective strengths of the aforementioned models, facilitated by softmax averaging. This collaborative initiative culminated in the creation of the Ensemble model, which outshoned its individual counterparts in performance metrics. Furthermore, the Ensemble model is poised to instigate significant advancements in brain tumor diagnostic procedures. The ensemble methodology is instrumental in refining the precision and automation of brain tumor diagnoses. Deep learning, as evidenced by the research, is a transformative element in medical image analysis, elevating the accuracy and efficiency of brain tumor segmentation. Consequently, this refined approach is set to become an invaluable asset for medical professionals in enhancing the accuracy of diagnoses and the efficacy of treatments for patients afflicted with brain tumors. © 2023 IEEE.

Employing an Advanced computer-Aided Decision Support System, this research meticulously analyzes extensive datasets to uncover intricate correlations between historical yields and environmental nuances. In this study, a novel interpretative machine learning model is formulated, emphasizing data pre-processing and optimal feature transformation protocols tailored to diverse model archetypes. The study delves into the influence of distinct variables on predictive acumen and the impact of individual observational values on forecast outcomes. The study's contributions include a transparent machine learning model elucidating key variables affecting crop yield predictions, paving the way for informed agricultural practices. Future endeavors could focus on leveraging real-time data and expanding datasets to further refine predictive models in this crucial domain. © 2023 IEEE.

The paper introduces an innovative Internet of Things (IoT)-based scale sensor that measures the water level in the alternate wetting and drying (AWD) system and displays data in the mobile app to enable remote monitoring. The AWD system mainly consists of 30 cm of PVC pipe or bamboo with a diameter of 10-15 cm inserted into the paddy field, with a lower 20 cm buried in the soil and tiny holes at the bottom to allow field water to enter. The water level within the pipe indicates the field's water level, especially the underground water level. The AWD method optimizes water usage and reduces methane emissions by watering periodically and drying rice fields instead of maintaining continuous flooding. The current manual measurement process for water level needs to go to crop fields daily with a scale, which is difficult for continuous and remote monitoring. The developed scale sensor has IoT connectivity that removes the difficulties. The scale sensor works based on conductive rain sensors to precisely detect each centimeter rise or fall of water. The sensor consists of two open conductive layers that create a short circuit when the water level touches them by raising, triggering the microcontroller to register a voltage drop. The scale can measure up to 20 cm as it has 20 conductive layers, which fulfill the requirements. It has a 1 cm resolution, and in the test, it shows 95-99% accuracy. So, the sensor can effectively measure the water level in the AWD system, and further research is required to add an automatic irrigation system with the sensor so that the whole process can be controlled remotely. © 2024 IEEE.

In response to existing limitations, a novel convolutional neural network (CNN) model tailored for facial attribute estimation is introduced in this study. The methodology encompasses meticulous data preprocessing techniques, including dataset splitting, resizing, cleaning, augmentation, and cropping, to ensure the integrity of the dataset. Through rigorous real-world testing, remarkable accuracy in predicting gender, height, weight, and basal metabolic rate (BMR) from facial photos is demonstrated by our CNN architecture. Notably, unlike conventional approaches where BMR is directly estimated from facial images, three output neurons are employed by our model to simultaneously predict gender, height, and weight, which are sub-sequently utilized for BMR calculation. A primary contribution is made through the development of a comprehensive methodology that advances the reliability of facial attribute estimation by achieving an outstanding accuracy of 98.50% on our dataset named Face-ete and a commendable accuracy of 88.29% on another dataset. Our model outperforms the second-best model by percentage relative improvement factors of 2.19 and 4.28 in terms of BMR prediction accuracy for the 'Faceere' and the other dataset, respectively. This work represents a significant step forward in the field of facial attribute estimation. © 2024 IEEE.

Employee attrition remains a significant obstacle in the corporate sector, adversely influencing organizational coherence and productivity. This article introduces a well-rounded system, meticulously crafted to curtail employee turnover. An extensive analysis employing a diverse set of machine learning models, namely, Support Vector Machine, Logistic Regression, K-Nearest Neighbors, Random Forest, CatBoost, and XGBoost, has been performed to construct an efficacious predictive architecture. Despite the widespread adoption of machine learning in forecasting attrition, the interpretational challenges persist, largely attributable to the dependency on feature sets. This research underscores that the Min-Max Scaler empowers the Random Forest classifier to attain an exceptional 88.24% accuracy utilizing a condensed three-feature subset, underscoring the efficacy of feature reduction amidst expansive datasets. The study employs LIME and SHAP frameworks to delve into the interpretability of models, examining the influence of risk variables meticulously. SHAP illuminates both overarching and specific insights, while LIME focuses on dissecting local black-box outputs. This scholarly contribution extends beyond offering a potent AI resolution to the pressing challenge of employee attrition. It accentuates the paramountcy of model interpretability in deriving insightful HR decisions. Furthermore, the investigation accentuates the capability of AIinfused systems to bolster workforce consistency and efficiency in the corporate sphere. It unfolds actionable intelligence regarding the determinants of attrition, marking a significant stride towards a more informed and strategic approach to employee retention and organizational productivity. © 2023 IEEE.

Traffic congestion in smart cities is a growing concern. This paper explores the application of Fuzzy Logic in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to address this challenge. Fuzzy logic can handle imprecise and dynamic traffic data and offers advantages over traditional fixed-time signal control. The research proposes a Fuzzy-based ITS framework for dynamically traffic signal control. This framework utilizes real-time sensor traffic data to adjust signal timings, dynamically prioritizing congested areas. The system also incorporates emergency vehicle detection using siren sensors. This ensures priority for emergency vehicles by granting them the right of way. This paper discusses the design of the fuzzy inference system, including the selection of fuzzy variables and membership functions. The effectiveness of the proposed system is evaluated through simulations, demonstrating its potential to reduce traffic congestion and improve traffic flow in smart cities. © 2024 IEEE.

With the dawn of the new age of communication, i.e., social media, the world has come into the palms of every individual at every corner of the world. However, easier access to messaging implies easier forms of abuse. As the usage of social media increases, the other side of communication, bullying, also increases. Cyberbullying refers to the concept of harassing individuals or groups through means of the internet with the help of messages or multimedia. Cyberbullying has a huge impact on mental health and research is ongoing in this area to accurately detect bullying text. Existing models are embedded into social media platforms to either ban or apply sanctions on the users involved in the passage of such materials. The proposed study aims to develop a model with a similar approach to detect cyberbullying in comment text. Also, sentiment analysis is performed on the comment text to get an idea of the message's context, thus improving the chances of bullying detection. The work is divided into two stages. In the first stage, the text and the sentiment score are directly passed to the machine learning models. Later, during the second stage word embedding using Word2Vec, a natural language processing technique, is performed on the comment text to obtain vectorized features which are then given to the machine learning models along with sentiment features. It was observed that the latter model shows high levels of success and that it can be deployed in real-world applications. © 2024 IEEE.

Efficient use of energy rather than production is essential in this era. A large percentage of electricity is being wasted unnecessarily. This energy wastage often occurs in crowded places such as college auditoriums and movie theaters. Energy efficiency can be brought into practical life by providing only as much energy as there is to as many people as there are. Apart from energy savings, by introducing automation and artificial intelligence, the sizes of even the largest halls can be adapted to suit the needs. Thus space and energy savings can be ensured by limiting the size of the space and the number of appliances required. This is called energy-saving implementation. This is the main objective of the article. FX5U controller is used here for automating the seating selection and actuating the corresponding electromechanical output based on the user input. The input and outputs are independently controlled and the efficient energy and space management can be accomplished by implementing the suitable AI algorithm as a script or ladder in the FX5U controller side. The GOT2000 is used for interfacing / data transferring between the human and the machine. © 2024 IEEE.
