The copper metallization becomes more significant issue in a high frequency driving TFT-LCD with large sized panel. Since copper has a low adhesion force against the glass substrate, copper is inevitably used with an aid of an adhesive metal layer such as Ti, Ta and Mo. When dissimilar metals like copper and molybdenum are exposed together in a wet etchant, a typical galvanic reaction occurs and this results in an undercutting of copper line or partial stains on the metal surface after drying. Especially, it is well-known that the suitable taper angle of Cu/Mo is difficult to obtain. Such failures often lead to a bad performance of thin film transistor and the display quality. Effect of acetic acid on wet galvanic corrosion behavior of DC magnetron sputtered the double layers of Mo and copper on the glass substrate has been examined. Addition of acetic acid in the copper etchant significantly reduced the galvanic current between copper and pure molybdenum.

The current researches to improve the reliability of operating systems have been focusing on the evolution of kernel architecture or protecting against device driver errors. In particularly, the device driver errors are critical to the most of the complementary operating systems that have a kernel level device driver. Especially on special purpose embedded system, because of its limited resources and variety of devices, more serious problems are induced. Preventing data corruption or blocking the arrogation of operational level is not enough to cover the entire problems. For examples, when using device drivers, the violation of function's call sequence can cause a malfunction. Also a violation of behavior rules on system level involves the same problem. This type of errors is difficult to be detected by the previous methods. Accordingly, we designed a system that traces system behavior at runtime and recovers optimally when errors are detected. We experimented in Linux 2.6.24 kernel operating on GP2X-WIZ mobile game player.

It is possible to reasonably measure the security quality of individual security patterns. However, more interesting is to ask: Can we show that a system built using security patterns is secure in some sense? We discuss here some issues about evaluating the security of a system built using security patterns. We consider the use of threats and misuse patterns to perform this evaluation.

We have studied effects of H atom source on deposition profiles of carbon films, deposited by H assisted anisotropic plasma CVD method. Deposition rate normalized by that for the aspect ratio of 1 at sidewall and bottom decreases with increasing discharge power of H atom source from 0 W to 500 W, because the incident H atom flux per surface area in a trench increases and H atoms etch carbon films.

Data mining algorithms have been proved to be useful for the processing of large data sets in order to extract relevant information and knowledge. Such algorithms are also important for analyzing data collected from the users' activity users. One family of such data analysis is that of mining of log files of online applications that register the actions of online users during long periods of time. A relevant objective in this case is to study the behavior of online users and feedback the design processes of online applications to provide better usability and adaption to users' preferences. The context of this work is that of a virtual campus in which thousands of students and tutors carry out the learning and teaching activity using online applications. The information stored in log files of virtual campuses tend to be large, complex and heterogeneous in nature. Hence, their mining requires both efficient and intelligent processing and analysis of user interaction data during long-term learning activities. In this paper, we present a bi-clustering algorithm for processing large log data sets from the online daily activity of students in a real virtual campus. Our approach is useful to extract relevant knowledge about user activity such as navigation patterns, activities performed as well as to study time parameters related to such activities. The extracted information can be useful not only to students and tutors to stimulate and improve their experience when interacting with the system but also to the designers and developers of the virtual campus in order to better support the online teaching and learning.

Pressure sensors are ideal candidates for implementing portable digital music instruments. Existing commercial pressure sensors, however, are not optimized to meet both timing and precision requirements for acoustic uses. In this paper, we demonstrate a portable multi-pitch electronic drum (e-drum) system based on large-area (> 15cm in diameter) ring-shaped pressure sensors made with low-cost screen-printing process. This e-drum system, which can accurately generate six different pitches of sounds in the current prototype, has the following key advantages: 1) a light-weight, flexible, bendable, and robust human-instrument interface, 2) real-time sound responses, 3) comparable acoustic sound quality with the conventional drums, and 4) easily expandable to a much larger number of sound-pitches. The digital music synthesis is implemented using a TI-DSP board and can be easily re-configured to realize other percussion instruments such as pianos and xylophones. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first successful demonstration of a portable e-drum based on large-area ring-shaped flexible sensors, whose success could open up many new applications.

Lyapunov-stable nonlinear plants can be approximated by an LTI model in many cases. If this approximation is obtained then it is possible to construct a G2DOF control system. The paper presents a new approach how the important relationships between the actuator, process and design parameters furthermore robustness measures can be determined. In this decomposition method the optimal control design for two-degree of freedom time delay control systems is discussed. Using a proper CAD algorithm the exact relationships can be plotted and the ultimate robustness limit of any control can be explicitly calculated.

Adapting resource management, for vague environments, in wireless communication proved to be a measure point of research recently. In this paper we present a system that is capable of adapting some important resources （type of modulation, code rate and number of subcarriers） for blurred channel conditions. The system in this work is mainly designed for WiMAX, which proved to be one of the prominent technologies in providing Broadband Wireless Access （BWA） in metropolitan areas with a simpler installation and lower cost than the wired alternatives. The approach depends on using cognitive radio for decision making which uses fuzzy logic for reasoning. The cognitive engine controls the type of modulation, code rate and number of subcarriers in order to maintain a good system throughput without wasting available bandwidth. Fuzzy logic reasoning in the cognitive engine was chosen because it is well suited for situations of uncertainty, incompleteness and heterogeneity information, in the case of fast changing radio environments. The results showed that new combinations of modulation type, code rate and number of subcarriers should be considered in WiMAX since in most cases it outperforms the standard in error probability and spectral efficiency, especially in a fast changing radio environment.

Innovative medical applications such as implant wireless sensors for health monitoring, automatic drug deliverance, etc. can be realized with the use of ultra wideband (UWB) radio technology. Nevertheless, for efficient design of wireless systems operating inside the human body a radio communication channel model is essential. Although a lot of research effort has recently been devoted to the characterization of the on-body UWB radio communication channel, just a few works describing the radio propagation inside the human body have been reported. To address this problem, a computational study of the propagation of UWB signals through human tissues in the 0.1-1 GHz and 1-6 GHz frequency bands is presented in this paper. This is based on numerical simulations using a heterogeneous anatomical model of the human body with frequency dependent tissue material properties. Subsequently, a statistical channel model is introduced for UWB in-body communications in the 1-6 GHz frequency band. The model is provided for two typical dept.s inside the human chest. This work contributes to the practical design of UWB medical implant communication systems.

In this paper, we study the influence of the exit conditions on the acoustic reflections at a jet pipe opening. For the flow exit conditions, the model of Munt assuming a vortex sheet at the exit of a semi-infinite jet pipe is improved by considering more general coupling conditions. We focus on modelling the acoustic properties at the shear layer in general and the stability properties in particular. Experimental methods are used for studying primarily the geometric exit conditions. Both theoretical and experimental results are presented and discussed. Numerical results related to the theory show that the thickness of the shear layer causes an expected increase in the magnitude of the reflection coefficient compared to the original infinitely thin shear layer in the Munt model. The experimental results, on the other hand, show that there are additional effects due to the presence of thick walls at the exit of the straight pipes used in the experiments. These effects are observed to be more dominant than the effects due to the shape of the edges. Based on the discussions, further theoretical and experimental investigations are proposed. © 2010 by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Inc.
