In the blogosphere, there exist posts relevant to a particular subject and blogs that show interests in the subject. In this paper, we define a set of such posts and blogs as "blog community" and propose a method for extracting the blog community associated with a particular subject. The proposed method is based on the idea that the blogs who have performed actions to the posts of a particular subject are the ones that have interests in the subject, and that the posts which have received actions from such blogs are the ones that contain the subject. The proposed method selects a small number of seed posts that contain the subject. Then, it selects the blogs that perform actions to the seed posts over some threshold and the posts that have received actions over some threshold. By repeating these two steps, it gradually expands the blog community. The experimental results show that the proposed method exhibits a higher level of accuracy than the methods proposed in prior research. Copyright 2009 ACM.

With the thermal effect, improper analog placements may degrade circuit performance because the thermal impact from power devices can affect electrical characteristics of the thermally-sensitive devices. There is not much previous work that considers the desired placement configuration between power and thermally-sensitive devices for a better thermal profile to reduce the thermally-induced mismatches. In this paper, we first introduce the properties of a desired thermal profile for better thermal matching of the matched devices. We then propose a thermal-driven analog placement methodology to achieve the desired thermal profile and to consider the best device matching under the thermal profile while satisfying the symmetry and the common-centroid constraints. Experimental results based on real analog circuits show that our approach can achieve the best analog circuit performance/accuracy with the least impact due to the thermal gradient, among existing works. Due to limited and time varying channel bandwidth of wireless networks, real time video streaming over mobile networks is a challenging issue. H.264/AVC addresses these issues by increasing the coding efficiency and supporting bit rate adaptivity by switching between bit streams of different quality, using switching predictive (SP-) frames. To reduce the quantization error due to double quantizations of SP-frames, these frames are usually coded with finer quantization parameters (QP) than the rest of the sequence, resulting in increased bit rate sometimes exceeding that of intra (I-) frames, reducing its efficiency. Thus the question is "what is the safe range of QP such that the bit rate of the SP-frames does not exceed that of the I-frames"? This question is studied in this paper defining a safe range of QP for SP-frames ensuring that its bit rate remains lower than that of I-frames, increasing QoS in bandwidth limited channels.
