The dual stator winding induction machine can be considered as two different induction machines coupled by the rotor. That will be true if the flux in the air-gap of the machine remains unsaturated. To avoid saturation in the machine two main different strategies can be chosen. This paper will study the performance of both methods. To optimize the operation of the machine the total flux must be partitioned between the two windings. The selection of the flux level in any of the windings will also be studied.

A hybrid evolutionary algorithm that combines genetic programming philosophy, with localized Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) training method is presented here. This algorithm is used for the topological evolution and training of Multi-Layered Neural Networks. It is implemented as a visual software tool in C++ programming language. The proposed hybrid evolutionary algorithm is applied on two bio-signal modeling tasks: the Magneto Encephalogram (MEG) of epileptic patients and the Magneto Cardiogram (MCG) of normal subjects, exhibiting very satisfactory results.

The use of an electromagnetically driven, convoluted electric arc in air along with PTFE ablation is described for the interruption of alternating currents. The approach is based upon electromagnetically attracting an annular atmospheric arc plasma column, during heavy current flow onto a PTFE cylinder containing a B field producing coil for enhancing PTFE ablation. Experimental results are presented to demonstrate the arc behaviour, the extent of the PTFE ablation and the occurrence of current interruption.

This paper addresses the problem of characterising different types of high voltage interrupters under various operating conditions using a range of arc current and voltage parameters measured during testing. Chromatic analysis is used to compress the complexity of the measured data into three parameters which define the signatures of the data sets. Examples of the deployment of the method are given using data for gas blast and electromagnetic interrupters.
