Femtocells are an efficient way of reducing infrastructure costs while providing better data rates and coverage. High penetration is expected in the upcoming ultra dense 5G networks, increasing the probability of femtocells' clusters. Strong resulting interference for nearby non-subscribed users will require interference mitigation techniques. In this paper we present a mechanism where multiple femtocells coordinate their transmission to serve multiple non-subscribed users through hybrid access. First, the spectrum allocation of non-subscribed users by femtocells is determined. Then, we introduce a power control algorithm that is based on two factors. The need for compensation for the subscribed users, due to reduced spectrum, and the effect that any change in power transmission will have on neighbouring femtocells. We evaluate the effectiveness of the algorithm through simulations on individual throughput and overall achieved capacity.

Small cells are expected to contribute to the targets of next generation mobile networks. Ultra dense networks through the form of heterogeneous structures of multiple RAT technologies and small cells present a flexible, economical way for better coverage and data rates. In this paper, we investigate particularly how femtocells may best utilize their available resources in order to increase their provided capacity when neighbouring femtocells are present. We propose a spectrum policy, according to which femtocell deployments are forming clusters and the femtocells adopt hybrid access policy versus users subscribed to other femtocells members of the same cluster. We also determine the spectrum allocation for non-subscribed users in the range of the femtocell. We evaluate the performance of the set up through simulations showing that the mechanism offers better overall capacity.

Ultra-dense and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) technology consist fundamental means for achieving the data rates and round-trip times promised by future mobile networks, because they promise to assure excellent indoor coverage and offer the potential to meet the target key performance indicators at a lower cost. In this paper, we study the techno-economic aspects of ultra-dense and DAS deployments. Apart from the presentation of their architectures and advantages, we present a techno-economic modeling of these deployment types. The defined models are used for the investigation of the upper technologies from an economic perspective and therefore, they provide an insight in the future financial and price aspects of these technologies by consisting a useful tool for the definition of financing and pricing policies towards an economically viable ultra-dense femtocell-based or DAS deployment. Finally, it is confirmed that the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is lower for the femtocells compared to the DAS.

This paper studies one particular aspect of providing communication security: firewall technology. This article provides a security framework in the form of packet filtering model within the firewall technology system and its components can be designed and evaluated. This paper introduces a reference model based on packet filtering firewall technology. All components are governed by a centralized security policy and they can be deployed in a distributed fashion to achieve scaling. This packet filtering firewall design is proven technology that provides confidentiality, integrity and availability in own information and network resources. The required design implement to set-up packet filtering firewall for network to protect and unauthorized access to our network. We describe the filtering process design depends on its underlying network technologies. The resulting security mechanism can be used as a bastion-host in the construction of firewall system.

With advancing process technology, Chip-Multiprocessors (CMPs) are experiencing ever worsening reliability due to prolonged operational stresses. The network-on-chip that interconnects the components of CMPs is especially vulnerable to such wearout-induced failure. To tackle this ominous threat we present Clotho, a novel, wearout-aware routing algorithm. Clotho continuously considers the stresses the on-chip interconnect experiences at runtime, along with temperature and fabrication process variation metrics, steering traffic away from locations that are most prone to Electromigration (EM)- and Hot-Carrier Injection (HCI)-induced wear. Under realistic workloads Clotho yields 66% and 8% average increases in mean time to failure for EM and HCI, respectively.

The problem of optimal Power Policy (PP) design for hybrid interweave/underlay Cognitive Radio (CR) systems is investigated, in the presence of imperfect Spectrum Sensing (SS). A limited Channel State Information at the Transmitter (CSIT) scenario is considered, that has never been studied before, where the Secondary Transmitter (STx) uses combined instantaneous and statistical CSIT. Given such CSIT, the optimal PP with the aim of maximizing the average transmission rate of the CR system, subject to a constraint on the average interference caused by STx transmission to the primary system, is found. The derived PP is then exploited for the development of an iterative framework for the problem of jointly optimizing the sensing time and the applied PP. By means of simulations, it is shown that the proposed joint SS and PP optimization framework offers a clear gain in terms of the achievable rate of the CR system, with respect to conventional underlay and interweave CR systems, especially for intermediate values of the average interference constraint and also for different primary user activity regimes.

A Bell test is a randomized trial that compares experimental observations against the philosophical worldview of local realism1, in which the properties of the physical world are independent of our observation of them and no signal travels faster than light. A Bell test requires spatially distributed entanglement, fast and high-efficiency detection and unpredictable measurement settings2,3. Although technology can satisfy the first two of these requirements4–7, the use of physical devices to choose settings in a Bell test involves making assumptions about the physics that one aims to test. Bell himself noted this weakness in using physical setting choices and argued that human ‘free will’ could be used rigorously to ensure unpredictability in Bell tests8. Here we report a set of local-realism tests using human choices, which avoids assumptions about predictability in physics. We recruited about 100,000 human participants to play an online video game that incentivizes fast, sustained input of unpredictable selections and illustrates Bell-test methodology9. The participants generated 97,347,490 binary choices, which were directed via a scalable web platform to 12 laboratories on five continents, where 13 experiments tested local realism using photons5,6, single atoms7, atomic ensembles10, and superconducting devices11. Over a 12-hour period on 30 November 2016, participants worldwide provided a sustained data flow of over 1,000 bits per second to the experiments, which used different human-generated data to choose each measurement setting. The observed correlations strongly contradict local realism and other realistic positions in bipartite and tripartite12 scenarios. Project outcomes include closing the ‘freedom-of-choice loophole’ (the possibility that the setting choices are influenced by ‘hidden variables’ to correlate with the particle properties13), the utilization of video-game methods14 for rapid collection of human generated randomness, and the use of network

Declarative framework enabling to determine conditions as well as to develop a decision making software supporting small and medium size enterprises aimed at unique, multi project-like and mass customized oriented production is discussed. The set of unique production orders grouped into portfolio orders is considered. To each production order treated as an activity network common shared resources operation times of which are known in advance are allotted. The problem concerns of scheduling of a newly inserted projects portfolio subject to constraints imposed by a multi-project environment The answer sought is: Whether a given portfolio can be completed within assumed time period in a manufacturing system in hand? The goal is to provide a declarative model enabling to state a constraint satisfaction problem aimed at multi projectlike and mass customized oriented production scheduling. In recent years, the emergence of the fMRI provides a possibility of further exploration for the human brain. The complex workings of the brain are composed of a plurality of brain functional networks. To further explore the change affected by task in human brain functional network, the efficiency of a method of effective connectivity is examined by comparing the two resting state fMRI data before and after a task. Distinguished from the view of the brain network as a whole in previous studies, the method of Granger causality analysis (GCA) we used is focused on the internal organization within a brain network. Also, the method of functional connectivity is used to compare the efficiency of Granger causality analysis. The results show that taking the default mode network (DMN) as an example, the method of Granger causality analysis can be more sensitive to the functional re-organization in a human brain network after a task compared with functional connectivity. And the target of incoming causal influences area changed from rPCu to BG after task.
