Recently, non-distorted data hiding technologies have attracted increasing interest for some sensitive images such as medical and military images. Among these technologies, histogram shift methods have the most outstanding performance in resisting image processing distortions. Such methods have highnovel robust data hiding scheme hiding capacity in non-distorted hidden information and resistance towards image processing distortions. However, the existing histogram shift methods have limitation in overflow problem. We therefore propose adaptive shrinking and two-level histogram shift to overcome this issue. Extensive experimental results revealed that our proposed method outperforms state-ofthe- art methods in terms of marked image quality, larger data hiding capacity, and robustness.

Human engagement is at the heart of every interactive technology. However, a concrete framework for synergizing the capabilities of humans and technologies to allow fully engaging interactions to happen is yet to be developed. We posit that such a framework should be grounded in a deeper understanding of human nature (e.g., mind-body relations), which in the field of HCI has primarily been built upon the Western philosophies. There are scattered, underexplored Eastern philosophies (e.g., Yijing, Zen) that may provide new lens and tools to analyze how humans interact with resources in their environments, including technological artefacts. Discussions of leveraging and possibly integrating Eastern and Western insights for human engagement studies will be an exciting and a radical forum for the HCI community.

The advances in wireless networks have encouraged the use of mobile devices in everyday life. However, one of the main problems of these devices is the limited amount of energy they have available to use in order to function and the extended energy consumption of wireless adapters. A lot of research has been done to reduce the amount of energy spent on wireless communications. On the other hand, the extended use of wireless networks causes interference problems in communications, which affect the overall performance of each network. The purpose of this work is to provide a mechanism, which can reduce the power consumption on the station side and increase the mobile devices' operation time, and in combination with a rate adaptation mechanism on the access point side, improve the overall performance of the network.

The International Large Detector, ILD, is a detector concept which has been developed for the electron-positron collider ILC. The detector has been optimised for precision physics in a range of energies between 90 GeV and 1 TeV. ILD features a high precision, large volume combined silicon and gaseous tracking system, together with a high granularity calorimeter all inside a 3.5 T solenoidal magnetic field. The paradigm of particle flow has been the guiding principle of the design of ILD. In this document the required performance of the detector, the proposed implementation and the readiness of the different technologies needed for the implementation are discussed. This is done in the framework of the ILC collider proposal, now under consideration in Japan, and includes site specific aspects needed to build and operate the detector at the proposed ILC site in Japan. As the number of ageing population and cardiovascular diseases increased, innovations in electrocardiogram (ECG) recording devices with more compact design and capability to be operated while user moving freely and comfortably are needed to help monitoring cardiac activity. Despite of its advantages, the high mobility of ECG leads to the increasing of motion artifacts and baseline drifts which then become another challenge to be overcome. A method based on Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition (EEMD) algorithm is proposed in this research for reducing noises and artifacts caused by motion, e.g. muscle movement, baseline drifts, and electrode motions. Testing was done by generating noisy signal using three types of noise recordings (taken from MIT-BIH Noise Stress database) and normal ECG recordings (taken from MIT-BIH Arrhythmia database with normal annotations), which each type of noisy signals divided into five noise levels i.e. 2, 6, 10, 14, and 18 dB. The performance of proposed method was then evaluated qualitatively by asking opinion from qualified general practitioners and quantitatively by calculating the SNR values. The output signals are then compared with output from Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter and Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD). As the results, for three types of noise tested, the ECGs are qualitatively tolerable for being used for diagnosis if the SNR are equal or above 9 dB. According to that, proposed method is effective for reducing muscle noise and electrode motion artifacts with noise levels 6 dB and 10 dB in which the output SNR increased around 9 dB or more. For baseline drifts, this method performs very well for noisy signal with noise levels 2 dB, 6 dB, and 10 dB.

This study presents a malware classification system designed to classify malicious processes at run-time on production hosts. The system monitors process-level system call activity and uses information extracted from system call traces as inputs to the classifier. The system is advantageous because it does not require the use of specialized analysis environments. Instead, a `lightweight' service application monitors process execution and classifies new malware samples based on their behavioral similarity to known malware. This study compares the effectiveness of multiple feature sets, ground truth labeling schemes, and machine learning algorithms for malware classification. The accuracy of the classification system is evaluated against processlevel system call traces of recently discovered malware samples collected from production environments. Experimental results indicate that accurate classification results can be achieved using relatively short system call traces and simple representations.

Clustering is a task that aims to grouping data objects into several groups. DBSCAN is a density-based clustering method. However, it requires two parameters and these two parameters are hard to decide. Also, DBSCAN has difficulties in finding clusters when the density changes in the dataset. In this paper, we modify the original DBSCAN to make it able to determine the appropriate eps values according to data distribution and to cluster when the density varies among dataset. The main idea is to run DBSCAN with different eps and Minpts values. We also modified the calculation of the Minpts so that DBSCAN can have better clustering results. We did several experiments to evaluate the performance. The results suggest that our proposed DBSCAN can automatically decide the appropriate eps and Minpts values and can detect clusters with different density-levels.

Finding all frequent itemsets (patterns) in a given database is a challenging process that in general consumes time and space. Time is measured in terms of the number of database scans required to produce all frequent itemsets. Space is consumed by the number of potential frequent itemsets which will end up classified as not frequent. To overcome both limitations, namely space and time, we propose a novel approach for generating all possible frequent itemsets by introducing a new representation of items into groups of four items and within each group, items are assigned one of four prime numbers, namely 2, 3, 5, and 7. The reported results demonstrate the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed approach. Our approach satisfies scalability in terms of number of transactions and number of items. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.

The consistent analysis of complex antenna setups with statistically varying media attributes is performed in this paper through a 3-D curvilinear stochastic finite-difference time-domain technique. The new method generalizes the concept of covariant/contravariant metrics for curved structures and derives the mean value and standard deviation of field components in a single run. Also, for the acceleration of the resulting simulations, all codes are developed in terms of graphics processor units and parallel programming. The profits of the proposed algorithm over multiple-realization Monte-Carlo schemes are certified via comparisons from circular- and trapezoidal-toothed log-periodic antennas with various realistic uncertainties in their materials.

A method aimed at refinement of the cyclic steady state space reachable in the given multimodal transportation network is proposed. The paper introduces the concept of a System of Concurrent Multimodal Cyclic Processes in which several subnetworks interact each other via distinguished subsets of common shared workstations as to provide a variety of demandresponsive work-piece transportation/handling services. Searching for the cyclic steady state behavior the following question is considered: Is the cyclic steady state space reachable in the given network structure ? The declarative approach employed makes it possible to evaluate the reachability of cyclic behaviors on a scale that reflects real practice. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.
