Drug-drug interactions (DDIs) can significantly impact treatment outcomes by causing adverse effects or reducing therapeutic efficacy. Whereas many DDIs are already known, there are numerous hidden interactions. Therefore, this study tries to predict unknown interactions based on drug structure and target information from the Drug Bank dataset. This paper trains the random forest model integrated with a knowledge graph on a dataset containing 922 unique drugs and 731,196 drug interactions. To illustrate the complex interactions between these drugs, we created a knowledge graph with Neo4j. This graph integrates information gathered from the dataset and extracts relevant data using Cypher queries. The inference engine was created according to the model's predictions on unknown DDIs. The random forest model, with an F1-score of 0.82, achieved a recall of 0.99 and a precision of 0.70. Also, 34,580 potential DDIs were extracted from the sample dataset of drugs. By embedding the knowledge network, our inference engine significantly enhanced predicting the hidden interactions and was found strong in the balance of precision and recall. Our research is applicable to the enhancement of drug safety and effectiveness via mitigating potential DDIs by identifying them. © 2024 IEEE.

Estimating dental age is crucial in multiple disciplines, such as forensic science, orthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Traditional methods, while effective, often involve manual processes and subjective judgment. Recent advancements in Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have introduced innovative approaches that promise greater accuracy and efficiency. This comprehensive review examines the latest CNN technologies applied to dental age estimation, highlighting their methodologies, performance, and advancements. Key aspects covered include the development and optimization of CNN architectures, the role of data preprocessing and augmentation, and the impact of these technologies on predictive accuracy. Additionally, the review addresses critical ethical issues associated with the implementation of CNNs in dental age estimation, such as data privacy, potential biases, and the implications of automated decision-making in sensitive contexts. By integrating insights from current research and practical applications, this review provides a thorough understanding of both the technological innovations and ethical considerations driving progress in determining dental age. © 2024 IEEE.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been associated with several manifestations that affect an individual's visual health. To address these concerns, we propose a classification model to predict the impact of COVID-19 on vision. The model is built on a dataset corresponding to visual symptoms and other factors. The proposed classification model will classify people into three categories: those with no impact on vision, those with mild-to-moderate impact, and those with severe impact. Some machine learning algorithms, such as logistic regression, decision trees, random forests, etc., were applied by us to build the model to identify the optimal algorithm for the task. The results obtained from the model show that it has high accuracy, precision, and recall. The model can predict the severity of visual symptoms in people due to COVID-19 with an accuracy of over 84%. The study findings are entirely focused on the E-learning or online learning caused due to COVID-19 pandemic and their impact on vision of people from different age groups. © 2023 IEEE.

The emergence of quantum computing poses a significant threat to the security of traditional blockchain systems, which rely heavily on classical cryptographic algorithms. To safeguard the integrity and reliability of blockchain technology in the upcoming era, this work proposes a novel quantum-resistant blockchain architecture. This approach integrates a robust consensus mechanism, with advanced quantum cryptographic primitives, including quantum digital signatures based on a Quantum Hash Function (QHF). Incorporating a quantum hash function enhances the blockchain resistance, providing an additional layer of security against quantum attacks. By combining these elements, our method creates a blockchain system fortified against the potential vulnerabilities introduced by quantum computers. The proposed solution leverages the power of QHFs to safeguard transaction integrity, while the consensus mechanism ensures the reliability and decentralization of the network. This paper also delves into the theoretical underpinnings of quantum blockchains, exploring their design, feasibility, and potential applications, emphasizing their promising future, particularly in areas such as decentralized identity authentication. Finally, it contributes to the development of a secure and resilient blockchain ecosystem capable of thriving in the coming era. © 2025 IEEE.

The revolutionary effects of quantum computing on security procedures for networks and cryptographic protocols are the focus of this study. Our research shows that conventional cryptographic algorithms are susceptible to quantum assaults;specifically, RSA and ECC encryption are very vulnerable. On the other hand, cryptographic algorithms that are immune to quantum attacks, such as multivariate polynomial cryptography and lattice-based algorithms, show promise in meeting these challenges. Key exchange rates between 200 kbps and 450 kbps and error rates as low as 0.5% are some of the significant achievements shown by Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) implementations. These applications show that QKD is a viable solution for protecting communication channels up to 200 km away. On top of that, there are remarkable outcomes when network security systems incorporate quantum advancements. The detection accuracy of Quantum-Enhanced Intrusion Detection Systems (QIDS) is 98.5% and the false positive rate is minimally 0.2%. The detection accuracy of quantum-secured communication systems is 99.2% and the false positive rate is an extremely low 0.1%. While quantum firewalls keep a detection accuracy of 97.8% and a false positive rate of 0.3%, quantum-safe cryptographic modules show a low latency of 3 ms. © 2024 IEEE.

Uncovering the mathematical structure of unknown chaotic systems from limited time series data poses a significant challenge in the field of dynamical systems, with broad applications across various domains. In this paper, we propose a swarm intelligence approach to tackle this issue, specifically focusing on one-dimensional discrete maps. Our approach leverages the firefly algorithm, a popular nature-inspired metaheuristic, known for its optimization capabilities. We assess the performance of the method by applying it to two illustrative examples of time series derived from one-dimensional maps: the Hénon map and the Burger map. The results show that this approach is promising for recovering the equations of motion of one-dimensional chaotic maps, even in situations where no additional information is available beyond the provided data points. © 2024 IEEE.

Storytelling and narrative are essential components in diverse contexts ranging from entertainment to culture and knowledge. With the progressive evolution of communication, stories also started to be transmitted through digital media. In particular, the emerging and promising field of sonic interactions in virtual environments (SIVE) fosters the creation of immersive experiences in which personalization of user interaction and narrative content can help create engaging and interactive storytelling. The insights presented here aim to define a state of the art of available interactive audio technologies for storytelling and to illustrate the role of audio in augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) personalized experiences by reviewing a selection of published works. Moreover, we will try to disclose the most important elements enabling an immersive experience and to explain how interactivity, emotional and personalized content help convey messages in the context of serious storytelling. The world has become dependent on using the Internet of Things(IoT) owing to its unique features - sensing the environment, acting upon the results obtained by sensors, connecting a network of devices for communication, and many more have made human lives simpler. Research done in the area of the Internet of Things(IoT) has revealed that these devices are vulnerable to physical and network attacks that can directly/indirectly result in the malfunctioning in the normal parameters of the devices, as well as cause important data loss or secret information being leaked which can become useful for the hackers to attack the device and tamper with the stored contents in the device. These problems pave the way for designing a robust, security mechanism for the Internet of Things(IoT). This paper describes the calibration procedure and the technical setup for a realistic real-time acoustic reconstruction of a real indoor environment, a corridor, in the context of Audio Augmented Reality (AAR). The acoustic phenomena inside such space are simulated using the scattering delay network (SDN) algorithm. Wall reflection coefficients have been estimated using room dimensions, wall materials, and RT60 decay measurements. Auralisation has been dynamically conveyed by using a personalized head-related transfer function (HRTF), modeled by combining (i) a spherical head model with ear displacement with (ii) the high-frequency magnitude of an HRTF selected from the CIPIC database by using two 2D images of the user's head. Moreover, the iPad's AR camera tracking system and AirPods pro accelerometers have tracked the listener's head and body position in real space. The proposed preliminary evaluation focuses on the impact of the different rendering factors in a simple AAR environment, suggesting that personalization, room calibration, and volume gain help render a more plausible AAR scene. © 2023 Privitera et al. Entangled pairs serve as the cornerstone for secure data transmission. All-optical-switching technology on nodes enables the entangling signals to bypass nodes and build ultra-long entangled pairs. Nevertheless, entangled pairs suffer from decoherence over distance, causing inadequate fidelity and potentially compromising transmission quality. To address the challenges, we employ entanglement purification to enhance fidelity to meet the threshold. However, the purification process consumes additional entangled pairs and may fail. Besides, the purification efficiency would be poor if the input pairs have low fidelity. Thus, it is unavoidable to divide the path into sub-paths with appropriate lengths for better purification efficiency and then merge them into a longer entangled pair by swapping. The novel optimization problem DOSP then emerges: maximizing the probability while adhering to fidelity constraints. To tackle the DOSP efficiently, we propose a (1-δ)-approximation algorithm NSPS to consider the probability and fidelity jointly, where is a positive user-defined constant. Finally, the simulation results manifest that the NSPS can outperform the existing methods by at least 70%. © 2024 IEEE.
