The existing sequential pattern mining algorithms fall into two categories. One is the candidate-generation-and-test approach such as GSP, and the other is the pattern-growth approach such as PrefixSpan. Both GSP and PrefixSpan require setting the minimum support before their execution. We propose a new approach, called Fast and Effective Generation of Candidate-sequences (FEGC), to mine sequential patterns without predetermining the minimum support threshold. The main contribution is to scan all transactions in the database once and generate all the subsequences with their support counters. The experiments show that our algorithm performs well in various datasets. © 2009 IEEE.

This paper presents a new method of capturing digital ink for pen-based computing. Current technologies such as tablets, ultrasonic and the Anoto pens rely on special mechanisms for locating the pen tip, which result in limiting the applicability. Our proposal is to ease this problem - a camera pen that allows us to write on ordinary paper for capturing digital ink. A document image retrieval method called LLAH is tuned to locate the pen tip efficiently and accurately on the coordinates of a document only by capturing its tiny fragment. In this papeic we report some results on captured digital ink as well as to evaluate their quality. ©2009 IEEE.

One of the most widely used schemes to extract feature points suitable for tracking in computer vision is "Good Features to Track". In this paper, we propose parallel implementation of the good feature extraction scheme optimized for the Cell processor, which is one of the latest high performance embedded processors. By utilizing the computational power of Cell suitable for image processing, we achieve high-speed computation of the operation. Experimental results show that our implementation with 6 SPEs can compute the feature point extraction in 1.4 ms when the input image size is 640 x 480 pixels. This is about 5 times faster than the computation on Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6850 @ 3.00GHz with Intel Integrated Performance Primitives. This work is part of the CVCell project which is a software library compatible with OpenCV library optimized for the Cell processor. © 2009 IEEE.

In this paper, we first present some dynamic TS fuzzy subsystems.to approximate a nonlinear system. To make the subsystems.asymptotically stable, the reference model with the same fuzzy sets of the system rule is established. A feedback controller is designed based on an exact approximation model. The control gain can be solved by LMI approach. Since in practical plant, there are parameters uncertainty and external disturbance in approximation models, we propose a new controller with an adaptive fuzzy control term to compensate the uncertainty and alleviate the disturbance. Lyapunov constitute techniques can prove the stability of the closed loop systems. The simulations results illustrate the effectiveness of this approach. © 2009 IEEE.

Radial or pincushion distortion problem of the wide angle charge-coupled device (CCD) camera is an important issue in the image calibration in case of close-up photography of real scene. We designed the auto-extraction method of the warping points in the calibration algorithm of the image acquired by the wide angle CCD camera. Proposed method extracts the distortion point by the wide angle CCD camera, using the threshold value of the histogram of the horizontal and vertical pixel lines. This processing step can be directly applied to the original image of the wide angle CCD camera output. Proposed method results are compared with hand-worked result image using the two wide angle CCD cameras having different angles (90° and 120°) with the difference value of the result images respectively. Experimental results show that proposed method can allocate the distortion-calibration constant of the wide angle CCD camera regardless of lens type, distortion shape and image type.

The BIS-Grid project1, a BMBF-funded project in the context of the German D-Grid initiative, focusses on realising Enterprise Application Integration using Grid technologies to proof that Grid technologies are feasible for information systems.integration. Small and medium enterprises shall be enabled to integrate heterogeneous business information systems.and to use external Grid resources and services with affordable effort. In this paper, we describe service extensions to UNICORE 6 to use an arbitrary WS-BPEL workflow engine and standard WS-BPEL to orchestrate stateful, WSRF-based Web Services, also called Grid Services. Thereby, we focus on how to combine the arbitrary workflow engine with UNICORE 6, and on how to access workflows and workflow instances. The workflows itself are also provided as Grid Services, realised by a Workflow Management Service that deploys Workflow Services within UNICORE 6, each wrapping a WS-BPEL workflow that is deployed in the arbitrary workflow engine. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2009.

Reputation systems.are very useful in large online communities in which users may frequently have the opportunity to interact with users with whom they have no prior experience. Recently, how to enhance the cooperative behaviors in the reputation system that has became to one of the key open issues. Research in the evolutionary game theory shows that the group selection or multilevel selection can favor the cooperation in the finite populations. Furthermore, Nowak et al., in [1], [2] give a fundamental condition for the evolution of cooperation by group *** on the above important result, we extend the group selection concept in evolutionary biology and propose a group-based mechanism to enhance cooperation for online reputation systems. © 2009 IEEE.

This paper proposes a coarse-grained dynamically reconfigurable architecture, which offers flexible reliability to soft errors and aging. A notion of cluster is introduced as a basic element of the proposed architecture, each of which can select four operation modes with different levels of spatial redundancy and area-efficiency. Evaluation of permanent error rates demonstrates that four different reliability levels can be achieved by the proposed architecture. We also evaluate aging effect due to NBTI, and illustrate that alternating active cells with resting ones periodically will greatly mitigate the aging process with negligible power overhead. The area of additional circuits to attain immunity to soft errors and reliability configuration is 26.6% of the proposed reconfigurable device. Finally, a fault-tolerance evaluation of Viterbi decoder mapped on the proposed architecture suggests that there is a considerable trade-off between reliability and area overhead.

This paper gives an overview of some recent advances in topological approaches to analog layout synthesis and in layout-aware analog sizing. The core issue in these approaches is the modeling of layout constraints for an efficient exploration process. This includes fast checking of constraint compliance, reducing the search space, and quickly relating topological encodings to placements. Sequence-pairs, B*-trees, circuit hierarchy and layout templates are described as advantageous means to tackle these tasks. © 2009 EDAA.

We present an automatic query expansion approach by generalizing the vector space model of information retrieval. In this framework, the images are presented by vectors of weighted concepts similar to the keyword-based representation in the text retrieval domain. The concepts comprise of color and texture patches from local image regions in a multi-dimensional feature space. To generate the concept vocabularies and represent the images, statistical model is built by utilizing a multi-class Support Vector Machine (SVM)-based classification technique. For automatic query expansion, the correlations between concepts are analyzed based on the neighborhood proximity between the concepts in encoded images by considering the local feedback information. The experimental results on a photographic image collection demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed query expansion approaches. Copyright 2009 ACM.
