The RFID framework constructed by Reader, Transponder and Middleware system forms a new construction of future production line automation, material management and logistic industry. The EPC (Electronic Product Code) Network, advocated by international organization, EPCglobal Inc., is the standard technology of RFID application. This paper proposes a cross layer design that applies an intelligent mobile purchasing system by combining RFID smart phone at Physical layer, transferring the RFID code into EPC Network at Media Access Control Layer, gathering the EPC Domain information at Application Layer and establishing the secure EPC network framework with Product of Authority Server (PAS) network environment at Application Layer. By using the cross-layer approach, user can purchase through the smart phone with RFID Reader. Content Web Server and ODS Server are responsible for recording the commodity information by EPC Code. The commodity will be directly sent to user's home through the Object Tracing Function of Secure EPC Network.

The project effort calculation with a functional size measurement method such as COSMIC can only be properly performed after the "Requirements Analysis" phase in a Project Life Cycle. The goal of this research is to investigate an early and project-level tuned prediction of the product size with the intent to reduce the effect of the 'cone of uncertainty' phenomenon. The lack of size measurement methods which take into account the effect of the product non-functional requirements (NFR) on size also contributes to the above phenomenon. We propose to use the Project Size Unit (PSU) technique for predicting the product (FUR and NFR) size measured in COSMIC functional size units. Such early prediction will lower the cost of size counting the project and minimize the estimation error in the requirements phase. Furthermore, the PSU calculation procedure can be automated, which would further reduce the cost of size counting. The expected advantage of jointly using PSU and COSMIC is the ability to get early estimates of the whole project effort.

Power consumption will be one of the most crucial issues to realize both future VLSI chips and communication environments. This research project proposed in this paper is aiming at developing a data-driven networking system by which the coming networking environment can be achieved with ultra- low-power consumption 1/100 to 1/1000 of the present. To realize the objectives, this project is planning to proceed from two approaches by ultimately utilizing passive data-driven principle. One approach is from the processor platform, that is, data-driven chip multi-processor platform based on self-timed elastic pipeline. And the other is from the networking scheme, that is, ad hoc networking scheme. As for the platform approach, based on rich experience so far on data-driven processor, we propose a novel architecture including chip multi-processor core with highly effective self-timed elastic pipeline. As for the networking scheme, this paper shows our proposal can reduce the number of control packets that results in reduction of power consumption.

Fixed-outline floorplanning, which enables hierarchical design, is considered more and more important nowadays. In this paper, a novel SA-based Fixed-outline Floorplanner with the Optimal Area utilization named SAFFOA is introduced to improve the total wirelength. The basic idea is to build and solve a group of four quadratic equations in four variables iteratively, which can handle the fixed-outline constraint of any aspect ratio. A new topological representation called Ordered Quadtree is then custom-made for this basic idea to facilitate its integration into SA iterations. After the fixed-outline constraint with 100% area utilization is achieved, we will solve the tradeoff between the chip area and wirelength and thus concentrate on the latter in SA process. Experimental results show that the chip wirelength is decreased by about 16.8% and 8.6% on average, compared with two previous fixed-outline floorplanners on soft modules, which are both proved to be better than Parquet. Besides, our method is still competitive on the wirelength, even if compared with some leading-edge outline-free floorplanners. At last, Local Refinement is also adopted to guide the SA process and reshape soft modules to meet the constraint on their aspect ratios (ARs). With its help, SAFFOA can still generate feasible floorplans with no deadspace under a strict AR constraint such as [0.5,2].

We are interested in the suitability of the standard IMS-LD for modeling collaborative learning processes. We propose a reference model and the use of a graphical notation called CIAN as CSCL scripting language. Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) receive much research interests because of their reliability, scalability and low cost. Obtaining high-throughput for multicast applications (e.g. video streaming broadcast) in WMNs is challenging due to the interference and the change of channel quality. Cross-layer design and network coding are approaches which have been recently received considerable attention for high-throughput problem in wireless networks. In this paper, we propose an approach namely CLNC (Cross-Layer Network Coding) which is a combination of the above approaches to improve throughput in multicast wireless mesh networks. Our simulation results show that when the number of receivers is high CLNC's throughput is higher at least 30% than that of known methods such as AODV, DSDV and DSR and higher than that of MAODV. Moreover, PDR (Packet Delivery Ration) of CLNC is higher than that of MAODV and DSDV.
