An experimental forward-swept fan encountered flutter at part-speed conditions during wind tunnel testing. A new propulsion aeroelasticity code, based on a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach, was used to model the aeroelastic behavior of this fan. This three-dimensional code models the unsteady flowfield due to blade vibrations using a harmonic balance method to solve the Navier-Stokes equations. This paper describes the flutter calculations and compares the results to experimental measurements and previous results from a time-accurate propulsion aeroelasticity code.

In this paper, firstly recycling methods of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) were briefly reviewed. Then PCB materials from a waste printer and waste TV were heated in TG/DTA and MS machines with the aim of separating and recovering the organic and metallic materials. The effects of top temperature, holding time, gas flow rate, heating rate were investigated. Synthetic air and argon were used as working gases respectively. The mass loss, conversion fraction with the temperature, reaction temperature and activation energy were summarized.

Stainless steel and other ferrous metals are normally classified as not diamond turnable for the unacceptable tool wear caused by the thermal-chemical reaction between diamond and ferrous metals. In the present research, stainless steel specimens were plasma nitrided at a relatively low temperature (4N. Diamond turning experiments were subsequently carried out under the following machining conditions: single crystal diamond tool, cutting speed up to 180 m/min, cut dept. up to 5μm and light mineral oil as the cutting fluid. The results showed that, given the same machining conditions, while rapid tool wear and poor surface finish were obtained when turning the as-received stainless steel, surfaces with Ra better than 3nm and no obvious tool wear were achieved when turning the plasma nitrided specimens.

Solution-processable organic semiconductors can be used to print transistors under ambient conditions which are robust enough to function on flexible substrates, and are useful for inexpensive, disposable, and/or flexible applications. Specifically, organic electrochemical transistors (ECT) function at low voltages and with large feature sizes, making them good candidates for freeform fabricated devices. Here we report the first functional ECTs produced via freeform fabrication on glass substrates. These show robust behavior over at least one hour and several measurement cycles, have a source-drain current of 0.1|iA at -0.5Vsd, which is an order of magnitude larger than the gate (leakage) current, and an on/off ratio of 2 at 0.2Vgate. These preliminary devices have source- drain current three orders of magnitude lower than literature values for similar ECTs. This work has enabled us to study ECT behavior on printable substrates, necessary to ultimately incorporating ECTs into fully integrated freeform fabricated electromechanical devices.
