The use of complex electronic systems in medical technology applications is constantly increasing. These systems are becoming increasingly important, particularly in the area of analyzing the progress of treatment, as they can be used to identify any deficits that may still exist. Although systems are now available from a number of manufacturers, they are not always applicable to all mobile problems, so approaches with adapted system technology must be used. © 2025 IEEE.

Several standards and guidelines give advice on the development of qualitative and quantitative criteria to evaluate safety related systems, in order to apply these in safety critical applications. These standards don't take into account the possibility of an external attack on the safety related system. In this paper, we will describe the current situation and explore methods and models for security and safety related systems with the help of Markov-models.

The application of computational intelligence in condition-based maintenance and diagnosis plays a leading role in the technology development of intelligent manufacturing systems. Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) is mostly used in designing the real time application having the decision support capability. In this study implementation of fuzzy logic in the CBR systems that deriving effective knowledge representation schemes has been described. The benefits of the approach have been presented. The applications of the developed advanced tool based on fuzzy logic and CBR for solving the real problems of predictive diagnosis and maintenance in industrial systems have been discussed. © 2013 DIME UNIVERSITÀ DI GENOVA.

This paper presents an automated code generation and validation, verification approach to convert model based developments into IEC 61131-3 conform function blocks. IEC 61131-3 programming languages are supported by PLC manufacturers and software environment developers and provide the possibility that novel and intelligent algorithms can be directly operated on industrial accepted systems. Railway and transportation also receive drastic changes from purely hardware based systems to microcontroller + software driven systems. However, the conversion has to follow certain steps to ensure that the adaptation is done correctly and functionality is not alternated, added or deleted. Concepts suggested by different international standards such as the IEC 61508 can help to derive a tool chain to verify the generated code. © IFAC.

We present the results of a community detection analysis of the Wikipedia graph. Distinct communities in Wikipedia contain semantically closely related articles. The central topic of a community can be identified using PageRank. Extracted communities can be organized hierarchically similar to manually created Wikipedia category structure. In this paper, a method of high order IIR filter design is proposed in which the coefficients in the canonical binary number system representation are searched by the simulated annealing algorithm. The high-quality IIR filters are designed using the all-pass filter stages, methods of masking filters and multiplied delays. It was proven, that if the coefficients of the multiplierless filter have no more than three summands in their representation, then its pipelined implementation in FPGA has the highest clock frequency. The use of the VHDL language in all the steps of the filter design helps to speed-up and improve the filter optimization. © 2020 IEEE.

This paper investigates the possibilities to monitor the degree of disturbances of a wireless communication and to use this information to calculate online the necessary safety parameters in order to estimate the probability of failure per hour (PFH) and the safety integrity level (SIL). Depending of the degree of disturbances, addition actions are performed with the intention of keeping the current safety level. A hardware set-up is introduced to get process data and to evaluate the results. © 2020, North Atlantic University Union NAUN. All rights reserved.

Data mining techniques are being applied successfully in wide varieties of databases in order to extract useful information. This paper applies data mining techniques on a new tea insect pests database created on the basis of data available from different tea gardens of North Bengal districts of India. We describe different issues related to the development of a good data mining model in the present context. We propose a novel multiple imputation - reduced dimension - clustering approach. A bootstrap-based EMB algorithm performing multiple imputation for missing values;EM- clustering technique;Id3 and C4.5 for tree based classifications have been deployed in the study. The performance of the model is found satisfactory. © 2012 IEEE.
