software product line engineering has become widely known that it provides software organization with tremendous profits through systematical reuse to a number of organizations that require producing various and similar kinds of software products. However, when adopting software product lines, it has been reported that there are several challenges, e.g., the shortage of procedural support for application engineering, and original reasons of complexity and implicit properties for variability management. In order to address these major problems, an integrated tool support is required to guide software product line engineering process. The integrated software management tool for adopting software product lines, called "ISMT4SPL" can offer beneficial traceability among the artifacts created from domain engineering and application engineering. Furthermore, all the artifacts could consistently be managed by explicit representation of the relationship between artifacts generated at each software development phase by ISMTSPL. ISMT4SPL would contribute to adopting and guiding software product lines into the organizations that demand the seamless introduction of systematic reuse since the ISMT4SPL is helpful to manage variability by delivering the method that can generate a flexible and automatic variability model, which reduces complexity for managing a number of variation points and variants. In addition, consistency between all the artifacts would reduce confusion and quality problems by removing mismatches among them. © 2012 IEEE.

This paper presents a way to convert image to voice using Image Segmentation, Image Captioning and Speech Synthesis techniques. At first, we designed the Image Captioning Unit(ICU) with Image Segmentation and Image Captioning model, and the Speech Synthesis Unit(SSU) with Speech Synthesis model. Secondly, ICU outputs predicted sentence from the image and SSU generated the voice from predicted sentence. To evaluate the proposed method, we used sentence_blue score of NLTK which is widely used as an indicator of machine translation. We hope that our algorithms may be used for the visual impaired people in the future. © 2020 ACM.

Spammer detection on social network is a challenging problem. The rigid anti-spam rules have resulted in emergence of "smart" spammers. They resemble legitimate users who are difficult to identify. In this paper, we present a novel spammer classification approach based on Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), a topic model. Our approach extracts both the local and the global information of topic distribution patterns, which capture the essence of spamming. Tested on one benchmark dataset and one self-collected dataset, our proposed method outperforms other state-of-the-art methods in terms of averaged F1-score. © 2016 Association for Computational Linguistics.

The development of Internet of Things (IoT) makes the application of smart homes grow rapidly. It is very popular to install smart appliances in the house. However, building a smart control system at home not only costs a lot but also has many limitations. For this reason, this study proposes a smart homes control system to easily integrate IoT, WSN, smart robot and single-board computer to implement smart home applications. We use wireless technology and automatic equipment to avoid excessive communication cable and to make the house more intelligent to keep in-house movement unimpeded and indoor space tidy and to let appliance adjust appropriate environment settings automatically. This system brings intelligence and convenience to home, making living environment more comfortable. © 2018 IEEE.

Blockchain is a peer-to-peer public ledger which guarantees the reliability of all the transactional record without a trusted third party. Basically, all the participants in the network create transactional record, examine the validity of the transaction, and keep the valid transactional record. The whole finance industry including banks and fintechs recognizes the value of the blockchain because of its efficiency and secure mechanism. In this paper, we explained the blockchain mechanism by providing its basic principles, strengths and weaknesses. Then, we provided what comes with it in the finance industry. Though there are still a few disadvantages such as persistence, and lack of the standard improvements and modifications in blockchain technology could overcome them and lead to the broader acceptance. The research field of Intelligent Service Robots, which has become more and more popular over the last years, covers a wide range of applications from climbing machines for cleaning large storefronts to robotic assistance for disabled or elderly people. When developing service robot software, it is a challenging problem to design the robot architecture by carefully considering user needs and requirements, implement robot application components based on the architecture, and integrate these components in a systematic and comprehensive way for maintainability and reusability. Furthermore, it becomes more difficult to communicate among development teams and with others when many engineers from different teams participate in developing the service robot. To solve these problems, we applied the COMET design method, which uses the industry-standard UML notation, to developing the software of an intelligent service robot for the elderly, called T-Rot, under development at Center for Intelligent Robotics (CIR). In this paper, we discuss our experiences with the project in which we successfully addressed these problems and developed the autonomous navigation system of the robot with the COMET/UML method. The paper describes engineering a system for a distributed Austrian Alpine road-pricing environment as well as the structure and organization of the software development. The client/server-based road-pricing system, handling on average 1.2 million vehicle transitions per month, had be to operational within a mere eight months after the start of the project. Current practical and industrial problems of client/server system strategies are discussed. Our main theses derived from the presented case study are: in current medium to large software engineering tasks there is a need for a) technical specialists for industrially identified project stress points (database, network, front-end) with experience in large projects, b) a project and process plan for a (very) short development time frame before production, and c) a dynamic production-oriented process model rather than a traditional linear process model.

Context: The technical debt (TD) concept describes a tradeoff between short-term and long-term goals in software development. While it is highly useful as a metaphor, it has utility beyond the facilitation of discussion, to inspire a useful set of methods and tools that support the identification, measurement, monitoring, management, and payment of TD. Objective: This study focuses on the identification of TD. We evaluate human elicitation of TD and compare it to automated identification. Method: We asked a development team to identify TD items in artifacts from a software project on which they were working. We provided the participants with a TD template and a short questionnaire. In addition, we also collected the output of three tools to automatically identify TD and compared it to the results of human elicitation. Results: There is little overlap between the TD reported by different developers, so aggregation, rather than consensus, is an appropriate way to combine TD reported by multiple developers. The tools used are especially useful for identifying defect debt but cannot help in identifying many other types of debt, so involving humans in the identification process is necessary. Conclusion: We have conducted a case study that focuses on the practical identification of TD, one area that could be facilitated by tools and techniques. It contributes to the TD landscape, which depicts an understanding of relationships between different types of debt and how they are best discovered. Copyright 2013 ACM.

The authors present the results of analyses about transient stability augmentation by the fuzzy logic-controlled braking resistor. Following a major disturbance in electric power systems, variable rotor speed of the synchronous generator is measured, and then the current through the braking resistor is controlled by the firing-angle of the thyristor switch, which is controlled by the fuzzy logic. Thus, the braking resistor controls the accelerating power in generators and makes the system transiently stable. Simulations are performed by using EMTP (Electro-Magnetic Transients program). Through the simulation results of both balanced (3LG: Three-phase-to-ground) and unbalanced (2LG: Double line-to-ground;2LS: Line-to-line;and 1LG: Single line-to-ground) faults, the effectiveness of the fuzzy controlled braking resistor is demonstrated and the optimal conductance value of the braking resistor in enhancing the transient stability is investigated.

Proton beam therapy is an advanced form of cancer radiotherapy that uses high-energy proton beams to deliver precise and targeted radiation to tumors. This helps to mit-igate unnecessary radiation exposure in healthy tissues. Real-time imaging of prompt gamma rays with Compton cameras has been suggested to improve therapy efficacy. However, the camera's non-zero time resolution leads to incorrect interaction classifications and noisy images that are insufficient for accurately assessing proton delivery in patients. To address the challenges posed by the Compton camera's image quality, machine learning techniques are employed to classify and refine the generated data. These machine-learning techniques include recurrent and feedforward neural networks. A PyTorch model was designed to improve the data captured by the Compton camera. This decision was driven by PyTorch's flexibility, powerful capabilities in handling sequential data, and enhanced G PU usage. This accelerates the model's computations on large-scale radiotherapy data. Through hyperparameter tuning, the validation accuracy of our PyTorch model has been improved from an initial 7 % to over 60 %. Moreover, the PyTorch Distributed Data Parallelism strategy was used to train the RNN models on multiple G PU s, which significantly reduced the training time with a minor impact on model accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.
