software development teams need to produce and assess secure software products so that they can perform critical functionality. Because no software product can ever be "perfectly secure, " development teams need to decide when a software product is "secure enough" to be released, that is, to make a decision on the product’s release readiness. The goal of this paper is to aid software practitioners in predicting whether a software product is "secure enough" to be released through the evolution and evaluation of software security growth models (SSGM). In this paper, we adapt and evolve software reliability growth models (SSGMs) for the purpose of SSGM using empirical software vulnerability analysis. We quantitatively compare the quality of agile software versions by comparing the security correction and detection process over testing time and software testing cost. The framework is generic to incorporate software vulnerability data into different time frames and multiple agile software versions. We evaluated our SSGM using data from Google Chromium, which uses an agile process with releases every 50 days. © Conference Proceedings of the 29th ISSAT International Conference on Reliability and Quality in Design, RQD 2024.

This paper presents the design and implementation of a low-complexity timing synchronization circuit for the IEEE 802.15.4a/z IR-UWB wireless communication standard. The circuit structure of a low-complexity correlator for complex ternary values is designed. Moreover, a two-stage synchronization approach is utilized for a more accurate sample alignment. Therefore, a balance between the performance of synchronization and hardware complexity is achieved. The proposed synchronization architecture is designed and implemented based on the Xilinx ZC706 FPGA platform. The experimental results show that the proposed design saves 74% of buffer and 87.4% of multiplier utilization. © 2024 IEEE.

The well-trained image classification neural networks are vulnerable to adversarial examples. An adversarial example is a malicious input carefully crafted by adding small perturbations to the original input, leading to misclassification. Despite advancements in generating adversarial examples, to the best of our knowledge, none of the well-known adversarial attacks can generate effective adversarial examples that work efficiently on large-scale datasets and very deep neural network architectures. In contrast to ordinary adversarial examples, effective adversarial examples have all the following four characteristics: (1) the ability to maximize the loss of DNNs, (2) the ability to cause a high misclassification rate for both undefended and defended DNN models using various defense methods, (3) minimal perturbations with low computational overhead on large-scale datasets, (4) the ability to be transferable across different DNN *** fill this void, we propose Fool-X, an algorithm to generate effective adversarial examples with the least perturbations that can fool state-of-the-art image classification neural networks. To evaluate the performance of Fool-X, we have conducted extensive experiments using 12 baseline adversarial training defense methods and six state-of-the-art adversarial attacks. The results reported on ImageNet-ILSVRC, CIFAR-100, and CIFAR-10 demonstrate that the proposed Fool-X algorithm can generate effective adversarial examples on large-scale datasets that can successfully fool the well-trained, defended image classification neural networks and significantly outperform the state-of-the-art adversarial attacks. The classification of plant species, particularly medicinal ones, has gained much research attention due to challenges in manual identification and the urgency to protect endangered species. The growing need for automated identification of medicinal plants has led to a focus on using leaf images, which provide abundant information and are easily accessible. The importance of medicinal plants in healthcare underscores the need for efficient identification methods, given the time-consuming reliance on experts. Vision-based systems offer fast and accurate recognition, benefiting researchers and the public in identifying these essential plant species. This work proposed a Multi-Scale Feature Fusion and Attention-Guided Residual Network (MSFFAR-Net) that incorporates pre-trained MobileNetv2 as feature extractor and a series of newly introduced Attention Residual Convolution Module to classify Bangladeshi Medicinal plants. Our model, validated through a 4-fold cross-validation, achieved high classification mean accuracy of 98.12% for BDMediLeaves and 96.18% for the Bangladeshi Medicinal Plant Dataset. © 2023 IEEE.

Project managers often use Effort Estimating strategies to manage the human resources of current or upcoming software projects. Prior to project implementation, cost, time, and personnel estimation are basically necessary. For every project of software, getting an accuracy in Effort Estimation has always been difficult. In case of this study, estimating the labor involved in developing software determined using a Back Propagation Model. This model's goal is to investigate the capabilities and potential uses of utilizing Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) as a tool for forecasting the effort required for software development. In order to estimate the software work, we are attempting to implement a machine learning technique in this research. Out of all machine learning methods, we are applying an algorithm based on Artificial Neural Networks that is Back propagation. The Desharnais dataset, a well-known publicly available dataset for estimation of software effort, is used to test the approach. The performance and accuracy of the tested model have been evaluated using three metrics: MMRE, MRE, and Pred (0.25). In the sections below that follows, I explain the algorithm and its results. © 2023 IEEE.

This research is aimed at understanding the performance benefits of the use of adaptive algorithms in dual-branch MRC systems as a solution for developing 5G networks. We developed controlled simulations to determine the performance influences of the algorithms in SNR, QoS, BER, and throughput under different network conditions. Our results indicate that the algorithms significantly reduce BER safe power divergence that improves the reliability and performance of the communication platform. The adaptive systems in addition reveal a significantly impressive ability to maintain a higher rate of throughput that is necessary in the current networks due to the increasing volume of data consumed by different users. In conclusion, therefore, this research has showed that adaptive MRC techniques might be a highly-viable option toward enabling the development of 5G technology, provided a suitable method for boosting performance during uncertain communications. © 2024 IEEE.

Programming code is variable length. As code size grows larger than primary memory, virtual memory is a relevant concept. As the concept suggests, virtual memory allows to extend primary storage usage with storage devices such as hard *** a requested page is not located in memory (page fault) or a free accessible page is insufficient to meet the request, page replacement occurs. This is because there are none, or the number of free pages is less than the requested number. The operating system handles allocating memory frames to each program when the program is loaded into memory. In this work, the three existing page replacement algorithms (FIFO, LRU, and Optimal), along with a counter variable that keeps track of the frequency of pages are combined to create a Hybrid Page Replacement Algorithm in real time (HPRA). The HPRA was assessed by contrasting its performance in terms of the number of page faults produced with the industry-standard above-mentioned page replacement algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

Both consumers and healthcare providers have benefited greatly from the quick development of software-based technology. The dominance of blockchains is impending as the medical care sector moves quickly towards digitization and customization. The development of blockchain provided answers to several problems that had long plagued the healthcare sector. However, not only in healthcare due to its capabilities, blockchain technology has found great success in a variety of industrial fields. The important factors propelling the growth of the healthcare blockchain market are the rise in data breaches, privacy concerns, fake pharmaceuticals, and provided answers to numerous problems that had long plagued the healthcare sector. Although telemedicine had been developing for a while, the covid-19 epidemic gave it the necessary kick. In order to facilitate social isolation, the pandemic made it necessary to expand virtual healthcare and distant therapy. Over the past year, the telemedicine market has experienced rapid expansion. Human activity recognition (HAR) is crucial for real-world applications such as healthcare, surveillance, and smart homes. Among sensing technologies, millimeter wave (mmWave) sensors stand out due to their contactless nature, high sensitivity, and ability to operate in low-light environments while preserving privacy. However, the scarcity of mmWave sensing data limits the generalizability of mmWave-based HAR systems. To address this, we propose mmAP, a data augmentation and pretraining framework that synthesizes a large mmWave dataset using human mesh data, followed by pretraining a robust and general mmWave heatmap encoder using a multi-modal masked autoencoder framework using the synthesized data. We enhance the model's robustness with heatmap-specific data perturbations and perform task-specific fine-tuning on a small real-world dataset. The experiment results over the baseline demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed mmAP framework. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper is organized as follows: Section II provides a background on our research work based on DSA in CRNs using CR under different fading conditions. c) Performance: We also study how effective adaptive algorithms along with the machine learning can prove in achieving higher spectrum sensing accuracy and decision making on run time. By conducting simulations and extensive performance evaluation, we show that the traditional solutions fall short when compared to our AI-based methodology in terms of accuracy especially under harsh fading conditions. Finally, sensitivity analysis highlights the control parameters that need to be submitted to further optimization for better system performance. With all above analysis, our results indicate that DSA can alleviate spectrum underutilization problem and enhance communication reliability in CRNs. Thus, with proper adaptation strategies and machine learning algorithms, the DSA systems provide an appealing opportunity to meet the continuously increasing requirements of bandwidth-consuming applications in current days wireless networks. The results of this research are helpful in providing effective value input to Advances in the understanding and design of robust, efficient spectrum management approaches for dynamic and diverse wireless settings. © 2024 IEEE.
