Knowledge Building as a pedagogy supports collaborative work between students to improve ideas. The result of knowledge-building discourse in student communities is the development of academic artifacts. Student reports are academic artifacts that can result from a knowledge-building process during their learning. However, the automatic analysis of student reports is quite challenging due to the documents' length and written language. Given this context, our goal is to analyze the semantic similarity between student reports and curriculum literature using the information coverage measure based on the Skip-gram word2vec model. Word2vec is a well-known set of techniques that provides a way to create a representation of words to predict the nearby words between every word and its context to capture the internal semantic and syntactic information. In this work, through the experimental comparison between the vocabulary list, the best similarity value is 0.90 using word2vec. The results show that each student report was aligned with each document in the curriculum literature using the information coverage measure based on word2vec. © 2022 ACM.

YOLO has become a central real-time object detection system for robotics, driverless cars, and video monitoring applications. Developing a custom object detection solution that can detect specific objects in real-time video streams has the potential to revolutionize various fields and has been the subject of extensive research. Although there have been advances in object detection, there is still a gap in the research for real-time detection of custom objects with high accuracy and speed. This research addresses this gap by training a YOLOv8 detector on a custom dataset of objects and evaluating its performance on real-time video streams which is by far the latest model and thus is faster and more accurate. Our experimental results demonstrate that our custom-trained YOLOv8 detector achieves high accuracy and real-time performance on a custom dataset of objects. The detector achieved an overall mAP50 of 0.864 and a mAP50-95 of 0.758, with individual class results ranging from 0.47 to 0.995. These findings show that custom training data and YOLOv8 are effective in real-time object detection, which has practical applications in various fields. The significance of the results and our contribution lies in demonstrating the effectiveness of custom training data for improving object detection accuracy and speed using YOLO, which has implications for a wide range of real-world applications. © 2023 IEEE.

An appealing alternative towards dealing with mobility and coverage challenges in future wireless networks, are hybrid satellite-terrestrial networks (HSTNs). The combination of network coding (NC) and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) techniques, have recently gained popularity due to their performance gains in improving the quality of a wireless transmission and exploiting the accessible spectrum. This paper introduces a joint NOMA-NC approach, integrated to an HSTN comprising a satellite, a terrestrial base station (BS), and multiple ground-based mobile terminals (MTs). The suggested method facilitates a cluster of end-users to be concurrently served through NOMA from a satellite using optimal power allocation, whereas the BS utilizes random linear NC to augment the MTs’ reception in the event of errors. The simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed methodology in improving system sum throughput, demonstrating substantial enhancements compared with both OMA with NC, and standalone NOMA and OMA approaches. The resilience of the suggested method is proved, improving the sum throughput even at low power transmissions and in the worst case channel conditions.

Despite the significance of music genre classification in audio identification, it remains under-explored within AI research. This tool is crucial for personalized music recommendations and similar music detection. We have developed an efficient AI model that leverages Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), offering high-precision genre identification when integrated into a graphical user interface. The model effectively extracts audio features like Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs), zero-crossing rate, and tempo. Testing results reveal strong performance in genre prediction across diverse tracks, affirming the model's ability to discern unique characteristics of various music genres. This performance not only attests to the model's capability in discerning the unique characteristics inherent to different music genres but also suggests that it can effectively generalize to novel, unseen data. Our model lays the groundwork for future enhancements and demonstrates the potential of AI in transforming the music industry - from personalized music playlists to exploratory recommendation systems. The success of this model paves the way for more intricate applications of AI within music analysis. © 2023 IEEE.

Prostate cancer is a widespread disease in men worldwide, posing challenges in early detection due to its diverse nature and the limitations of current diagnostic techniques. In this study, we have developed a new method that combines CNNs with Vision Transformers (ViTs) to improve the classification of prostate cancer using MRI images. To address data imbalance and enhance model robustness, we used dual synthetic oversampling techniques and data augmentation methods. Our preprocessing pipeline reduced noise, preserved edges, and improved local contrast without amplifying noise. For feature extraction, we utilized the GrayLevel Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) and shape-based features to represent complex MRI data better. Among the evaluated architectures, ConvNeXt showed the best performance. Using SMOTE, it achieved an F1-score of 97.21% and a MCC of 95.32%. With ADASYN, performance improved further, reaching an F1-score of 98.82% and an MCC of 97.86%. Additionally, we created a web-based application for realtime analysis of prostate MRI scans, which can aid in clinical decision-making. These results demonstrate the potential of our approach to improve the accuracy of prostate cancer diagnosis and provide an interpretable model for clinical use.

The fashion industry, with its myriad choices, often overwhelms consumers. Addressing this, AdaptiveCloset introduces a groundbreaking approach to tailoring clothing suggestions by harnessing the power of reinforcement learning (RL). Unlike conventional AI methodologies in a fashion that merely suggests based on past preferences, our system dynamically ad-justs using realtime user feedback, ensuring that recommendations remain relevant and personalized. Historically, AI's fusion into the fashion realm has witnessed multiple methodologies but conspicuously lacked the RL perspective. Our research stands at this juncture, aiming to redefine online shopping experiences. Through AdaptiveCloset, we envisage a scenario where online shoppers not only receive personalized recommendations but also feel a sense of involvement, thanks to the system's feedback-oriented adaptability. This responsiveness not only augments user engagement but provides actionable intelligence for businesses, bridging the gap between consumer desires and market offerings. This article examines the performance of machine learning (ML) techniques for accurate path loss predictions inside aircrafts. An artificial neural network (ANN) and support vector regression (SVR) methods are introduced and assessed. Both algorithms are trained, validated and tested with measurements collected inside a long-range Airbus aircraft at three different frequencies. According to the statistical analysis both methods adapt very well to the measured data, delivering low root-mean-square errors, being 1.5 and 1.9 dB for ANN and SVR models, respectively. In any case, the ANN method exhibits better performance in predicting accurately path loss. Finally, the results verified that the appropriateness of the applied ML techniques is much better than that of conventional empirical models, thus forecasting path loss with remarkable efficacy.

Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problems (CVRPs), a widely acknowledged NP-hard issue, pertains to the optimal routing of a limited-capacity vehicle fleet to fulfill customer demand, aiming for the least possible travel distance or cost. Despite the presence of numerous heuristic and exact approaches, the combinatorial characteristic of CVRP renders it challenging, especially for large-scale instances. This research provides an in-dept. exploration of utilizing Genetic Algorithms (GAs) to address Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problems (CVRPs), a recognized and intricate optimization issue in the realm of logistics and supply chain management. Our paper concentrates on the innovative usage of GAs, a category of stochastic search methodologies inspired by natural selection and genetics, to grapple with CVRP. We put forth a fresh framework grounded in GA that infuses unique crossover and mutation operations tailor-made for CVRP. Our comprehensive computational trials on benchmark datasets suggest that our GA-centric method is proficient in deriving high-standard solutions within acceptable computational durations, surpassing multiple contemporary techniques concerning solution quality and resilience. Our results also underscore the scalability of our proposed approach, marking it as a viable choice for tackling extensive, real-world CVRPs. This paper enriches the current knowledge bank by demonstrating the prowess of GAs in deciphering complicated combinatorial optimization issues, thus offering a novel viewpoint for future advancements in crafting more robust and efficient CVRP resolutions. © 2023 IEEE.

Facebook, Instagram and Twitter serve as influential social media platforms for individuals where they express and share their thoughts, skills, knowledge and talents with a broad audience. However, these platforms are also used to disseminate offensive content including trolling and content that targets a person’s gender, religion, or race. When women become the targets of such content, it is often manifests as misogyny. In recent years, the growing prevalence of racial and verbal abuse directed at women on social media has drawn considerable attention to the issue of online misogyny and women based offending, by making the automatic detection of such offensive content an urgent priority. Moreover, many researchers have addressed misogyny detection in high resource languages i.e., English, Italian, Arabic, Hindi, and more, tackling this issue in low resource language like Roman Urdu presents a significant challenge. In this paper, a framework is proposed for detection of misogynistic content from Roman Urdu tweets. This paper leverages well known transformer models such as BERT, RoBERTa, GPT-2, and XLNet to train and evaluate misogyny detection performance. The research findings reveal that RoBERTa surpasses the other models in misogyny detection, by achieving the highest accuracy, precision, F1-score and recall i.e., 90.87%, 90%, 89%, and 91%, respectively.

The majority of advancements are still generally attributed to trial-and-error experimentation, which takes a long time and a lot of money and can be a significant portion of research in physics, chemistry, and materials science. This type of experimentation can be a significant portion of the process. Despite the fact that a large percentage of research is devoted to the identification and characterization of novel chemicals that have the potential to be of use to society. In this paper, the chemical reactions are quickened using machine learning modelling. The paper uses supervised machine learning approach to fasten the process of chemical reaction by learning it in a supervised manner. The research provides details of how the process of chemical reactions taking place in conventional and using machine learning models. The simulation is conducted in python to test if the chemical reactions are produced with faster convergence time than the existing methods. © 2023 IEEE.
