To directly investigate the dynamic nanoscale phenomenon on the surface being processed in wet conditions such as precision polishing, and cleaning in semiconductor industrial, an optical method for visualization and observation of each sub-100 nm sized particle that is moving on an interface such as a silica glass surface by applying an evanescent field have been proposing. Subsequently, we developed an experimental apparatus equipped with an optical microscopy system for verifying the moving particle observation method in a laboratory scale. This article introduces some experimentally direct observation results of duplicated wet processes. © 2024 IEEE.

Patient monitoring and continuous updation of their health status is very serious concern especially during the times of pandemic like situations. Since, it is a costly affair with heavy instruments and hosptialization of every patient in India is very expensive for moderate earning citizens and ever increasing population of India also leads to lack of hopspital bed availability. Also, in remote areas the hospitals are at very distant locations from their stay. In order to overcome these challenges, we have proposed an economic and efficient utilization of IOT based sensors and a mobile application to continuously monitor affected patient’s data from their locations and with the usage of mobile app, continuous health reports can be provided to doctors. So, three IOT sensors namely ECG, which monitors heart rate, DHT-11 to measure temperature and humidity of patient surroundings and MQ-2 to monitor gas levels of patient’s surroundings. The patient will attach these sensors on their arm which will enable to provide the readings of patient’s health. Now, the readings fetched using these IOT sensors are stored and converted in the form of medical report using wireless Blynk mobile application. This wireless Blynk mobile application database is synced with a cloud platform through which the patient’s report will be sent to doctor’s Blynk mobile application. In this manner, the continuous monitoring of patient’s health will be ensured and this application makes it easier and more convenient to share health reports by users. Through fair analysis and justification from our results, the proposed work will showcase our usage of IOT based sensors which will effectively help to continuously monitor the patient’s health. © 2024 IEEE.

Energy storage is pivotal in isolated microgrids for effective power management during fluctuating load conditions. This necessitates a bidirectional converter capable of both charging and discharging energy. This paper presents a novel, non-isolated, transformer less bidirectional DC-DC converter (BDC) to address this *** offers numerous advantages which includes high gain, high efficiency, simplified circuit structure, reduced switching components and switching losses, reduced voltage stress, wide voltage range through synchronous rectifier zero voltage switching (ZVS). The proposed converter facilitates bidirectional power flow, operating in both buck mode (charging) and boost mode (discharging) between the battery and a 400V DC bus, accommodating a wide range of voltage gain ratios. Comprising three switches, two inductors, and four capacitors, the converter's structure was simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK. Simulation results indicate a voltage gain of 6 in boost mode for the proposed converter, surpassing the conventional converter's gain of 3.5. In buck mode, the proposed converter achieved a voltage gain of 0.72, outperforming the conventional converter's 0.68. These findings highlight the superior performance of the proposed converter. © 2024 IEEE.

A lightning strike is a natural phenomenon that occurs suddenly, dependent on weather conditions. It can cause overvoltage in any electrical network, including transmission lines and generating stations. However, the increase in renewable farm penetration in recent years, especially in transmission networks, highlights the need to investigate their impact on these farms during such massive surge events. This is important because the equipment in these farms is costly and typically has less withstand capability than other power system network components. This paper uses an IEEE Standard impulse current waveform from PSCAD to investigate the impact of lightning surges on solar and wind farms when connecting them to an IEEE-9 bus network. Additionally, it discusses existing protective measures for such farms in this regard. © 2024 IEEE.

Hirama and Yanagibashi Lab of KIT (Kanazawa Institute of technology, private, in Japan) have been engaged in study activities that deal with living things such as mushrooms, plants and insects for many years although the Labs belong to Department of Electrical and Electronic engineering. In this paper, actual annual study activities of a college senior in the Lab is introduced in detail and effects of dealing living things in engineering education is evaluated. The student investigated for effective mushroom cultivation environment condition based on CDIO initiative as a joint study with a mushroom production company. The student deepened his knowledge about mushrooms and other general living things through literature research and internships at the company, conceived experimental methods, designed some experimental equipment, implemented experimental data acquisition, and fed back the results to the company for efficient operation. These practical purposes series activities had contributed to development of his knowledge and skills precisely. In addition, dealing living things in the study of the Department of Electrical and Electronic engineering made the student realize that his major could be useful for something familiar and engineering has a great impact on life, and these further exited his interest totally. Based on the case study and questionnaire surveys to all students in the Lab, it was concluded that engineering education that deal with living thing was meaningful. © 2024 IEEE.

The automatic classification of medical QA pairs is crucial for improving healthcare efficiency, allocating specialized care, optimizing resource distribution, and facilitating robust data analysis. Bengali, the 7th most widely spoken language globally, has a growing volume of health-related queries. However, unlike English, there is no benchmark large-scale medical QA dataset, pre-trained language model, or human baseline score for medical QA in Bengali. This paper introduces a deep learning-based framework called MeQANet that leverages CNN and BiLSTM techniques for classifying medical QA texts in Bengali. It also presents a novel medical QA corpus in Bengali (BnMedQA), consisting of approximately 4500 medical QA pairs across eight domains: Orthopedic, ENT, Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Gynecology, Pediatrics, General Medicine, Dermatology, and Cardiology. Various techniques (including LR, SVM, RF, MNB, AdaBoost (AB), CNN, BiL-STM, and CNN+BiLSTM) are employed to perform the classification tasks. Experimental results indicate that the CNN+BiLSTM approach achieved the highest F1-score of 0.85 among all employed techniques. © 2024 IEEE.

Renewable energy sources (RES) are the remedy for pollution free power generation. Availability of power from RES is uncertain in nature and this issue is mitigated with the help of energy storage system (ESS). The combination of RES and ESS leads to the formation of microgrids which can serve the loads by itself. The proposed microgrid in this paper consist of different energy sources and storage systems such as solar, wind, biogas, biodiesel, fuel cell, battery and flywheel energy storage system. It is very important to stabilize the frequency fluctuations due to changes in load, solar and wind output powers. In this work, frequency of the proposed microgrid is stabilized by using the PID controller. The unavailability of solar and wind output powers are also considered for the analysis. The proposed microgrid is modelled and validated using MATLAB/SIMULINK. © 2024 IEEE.

Dhaka, the densely populated capital of Bangladesh, is addressing urban intervention challenges with a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system to cater to its growing population's transportation needs. The metro rail project requires 160 MWh of electricity daily. As energy demand rises in emerging countries, ensuring energy security is crucial. This study focuses on a rooftop solar PV grid-connected power system on metro rail station rooftops to address the energy demand. It delves into the design aspects and evaluates the techno-economic and environmental performances. The performance test of the rooftop solar PV system was simulated using PVsyst 7. From this project CO2 emissions savings over the 25-year project lifetime, with a total of 7585.929 tons saved per station. Per year 303.437 tCO2 and per kW 12.653 tCO2 saved from one metro station. The solar power project in question involves a total installation cost of 4,25,00,000 BDT (equivalent to 3,80,000 USD). With a commitment to sustainability, the project aims to generate a significant amount of clean energy, producing a total of 10.7 gigawatt-hours (GWh) annually. This metrics collectively affirm the viability of the system as an effective solution for addressing energy needs, concurrently diminishing reliance on fossil fuels, and fostering the adoption of sustainable energy practices. © 2024 IEEE.

Churn, a common concern among business leaders, poses a significant challenge in today's fast-paced world where consumer attention spans are short. This research focuses on churn analysis within the OTT streaming platform sector, essential for retaining subscribers and ensuring business longevity. Utilising data preprocessing methods and machine learning algorithms, this study aims to identify factors influencing churn and provide insights for targeted retention strategies. The dataset includes 16 variables, with churn serving as the binary-dependent variable. Data preprocessing involved addressing missing values and converting categorical data into numerical format. Four machine learning models-Random Forest, XGBoost, K-Nearest Neighbors, and Support Vector Machine-were applied, with Random Forest achieving the highest accuracy of 89%. Evaluation metrics like confusion matrices, ROC curves, and Precision-Recall curves were used to evaluate model performance, revealing Random Forest's effectiveness in churn prediction. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was employed to handle the complexity of user data, aiding in the identification of influential churn factors. This study emphasises the importance of understanding customer behaviour and utilising machine learning to forecast subscription choices. The insights gained provide valuable guidance to OTT companies for enhancing customer satisfaction and retention strategies, ensuring competitiveness in a dynamic industry landscape. © 2024 IEEE.
