Alloys formed by laser power bed fusion (LPBF) contain high residual stress and strain due to the cyclic heating process, which decreases ductility. Therefore, many researchers have investigated heat treatments to improve ductility by removing residual stress and forming α + β phase structures. However, in this study the ductility of some heat-treated samples was found to decrease below that of as-built samples. This study investigated the heat treatment of LPBF at different temperatures to decompose α′ grains to α grains and understand the resulting microstructure and mechanical properties. Specifically, the influence of microstructural factors on ductility was examined. In the samples heat treated at 500°C, α′ was found to decompose into α with elevated strain and finer β grains, which increased yield strength at the cost of ductility. Meanwhile, in the samples heat treated at 700°C, coarser β phase was precipitated, and greater ductility was supported by the transfer of the slip deformation between α phase grains. ©2025 Japan Society of Powder and Powder Metallurgy.

The adaptive optimal control approach for the isolated and interconnected power systems, AGC scheme using PI technique is presented in this research. Due to the policy evaluation and policy improvement phases, which analyze and update the cost and control policy, the PI approach can provide adaptive optimal control without using all system states. This is possible through policy evaluation and improvement. An adaptive optimal control strategy based on the PI methodology may be model-free. To complete this work, a comparison of the PI-based and LQR-based schemes efficiency is needed. The adaptive optimum control approach's efficiency has also been studied following several parameter change scenarios. Simulations show that the PI-based adaptive optimum control approach surpasses the LQR-based framework in effectiveness © 2024 IEEE.

Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines (PMSM) have become more popular for industrial applications due to their unique advantage of high power density and efficiency. The reliability and safety of PMSM is an essential requirement for smooth operation. An open-circuit fault in the inverter affects the PMSM drive's performance, causing excessive speed and torque fluctuations. This paper proposed an Integral Current Error (ICE) technique for identifying faulty IGBT by analyzing the performance of the PMSM drive. The proposed technique is implemented in MATLAB/SIMULINK platform. Simulation results and outcomes the fault identification are presented in this paper. © 2022 IEEE.

In dynamic and unpredictable work environments such as manufacturing, logistics, and automated warehouses, achieving high-precision self-localization estimation for efficient object picking are critical challenges for mobile robots. Ensuring accuracy and adaptability is essential for their successful operation. This paper presents a new method that integrates RGB cameras with Contrastive Learning (CL) for self-localization estimation and advanced object picking for mobile manipulators. The effectiveness of the proposed method for location estimation in object picking is verified in indoor environments. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents an Integer Linear Programming (ILP) formulation addressing the set-pair routing problem. The optimization framework involves calculating routing lower bounds, implementing the min-cost max-flow algorithm, and seeking to minimize the maximum length while maximizing the minimum length. Incremental and binary search methods are employed for optimization. Experimental validation of the proposed methods against existing approaches reveals substantial speed improvements. In run-time comparisons, both the incremental (INC) and binary search (BS) methods surpasses the performance of established approaches. Notably, the proposed methods demonstrates success in solving instances that posed challenges for existing methods, as evidenced by the obtained length results.

There is a rise in the use of visual cues such as augmented reality and virtual reality to teach programming concepts and algorithms to novice programmers. These visualizations increase motivation among novice programmers, and also contribute to better conceptual understanding. For effective implementation of an algorithm or program, it is important to understand its flow of execution. The flow of an algorithm is commonly represented pictorially as a control flow graph (CFG) or as an abstract syntax tree (AST). However, existing representations are static in nature. Adding a dynamic aspect to the CFG to represent the flow of a program or an algorithm might ease the conceptual understanding. Integrating this dynamic CFG with augmented reality might also increase motivation among students in viewing and understanding various algorithms and programs. Hence, we present FlowARP, an augmented reality based visualization tool, to demonstrate the flow of programs. As a first step, we have designed FlowARP to support C/C++ programs and evaluated the usefulness of FlowARP through a user study with 44 undergraduate students, based on an amalgamated approach that assess usefulness and user perception. The results indicated that users were able to solve code-snippet based questions in lesser time, using FlowARP. However, we also observed that users take some amount of time to get accustomed to FlowARP. © 2023 ACM.

Traditional diagnostic techniques are time-consuming and prone to error. Performance is added however time and cost are reduced by using computer-aided diagnostic methods. This study aims to calculate how healthy boosting-based machine learning classifiers perform in automatically identifying diabetes in the Indian context. For this experiment, Indian demographic and health survey 2021 data on women aged 19 to 79 are considered. This data includes clinical, anthropometric, and biochemical components. 12,103 of the 706,504 responders who tested positive for diabetic testing were considered. The predictive exploration-based boosting machine learning models are adopted, such as adaptive boosting, categorical boosting, extreme gradient boosting, gradient boosting, and light gradient boosting models. Kernel Principal Component Analysis is employed for feature extraction. The Extreme Gradient Boosting model demonstrated strong performance on the diabetes dataset both before and after applying Kernel PCA. The metrics including accuracy, F1-score, precision, and recall for the XGBoost model showed improvements: accuracy increased from 81% to 83%, F1-score from 81% to 82%, precision from 81% to 88%, and recall from 81% to 76%.In contrast, Adaptive Boosting performed poorly, while Categorical Boosting, Gradient Boosting, and Light Gradient Boosting models achieved moderate performance levels. Overall, the model attained optimal performance across metrics such as accuracy, precision, Area Under the Curve (AUC), and recall. © 2024 IEEE.

Osteoporosis is a prevalent bone disease that can be crippling and is distinguished by a loss of bone strength and density. Fractures and other osteoporosis problems can be prevented by an early diagnosis of the condition. In this context, bone image analysis using X-rays and CT scans is a promising approach for detecting osteoporosis at an early stage. This research paper presents a method for the early osteoporosis identification by bone image analysis. The proposed method combines traditional image processing techniques with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). A diverse dataset of bone images is collected and preprocessed. Conventional image processing techniques are used for feature extraction, while a CNN model is developed and trained for classification. The experimental results demonstrate high accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity in detecting osteoporosis. The proposed method is non-invasive, cost-effective, and scalable, which makes it a valuable tool for enhancing osteoporosis diagnosis and patient treatment. © 2023 IEEE.

The MG (Microgrid) system is expanding as a potential and dependable alternative to the rising demand for utility supply and transmission lines carried on by an increased demand for electricity resulting from growing population. Since MG focuses on renewable energy sources, it has gained interest among investors and researchers. PhotoVoltaic (PV) system is regarded as best renewable energy technologies because of its applicability for distributed generation, satellite systems and transportation. However, MG suffers from maintaining continuity of supply from PV to load. Hence, the grid connected PV system has to maintain uniform distribution to avoid transmission loss. In this paper, a single phase grid connected PV system along with Boost converter is introduced to maintain uniform power supply. A Cascaded fuzzy based PI controller is utilized to control Boost converter operation. The Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) coupled to an LC filter produces sinusoidal outputs with low harmonic content, which is obtained constant from DC link voltage. By using conventional Proportional Integral (PI) controller, an improved grid synchronization is therefore obtained. In Matlab, the proposed work is simulated and the outputs generated indicates improved functioning of the proposed system. © 2023 IEEE.

In single-cell systems with high delay and Doppler spread channels, Orthogonal Time Frequency Space (OTFS) modulation is known to achieve significantly better throughput than OFDM. However, there is not much work reported on the throughput comparison between OTFS and OFDM for multi-cell systems. In this paper, we therefore study the spectral efficiency (SE) performance of OTFS based multi-cell communication systems where the time-frequency resource allocated to all cells is the same. Simulation studies reveal that the SE achieved with OTFS modulation is better than that achieved with OFDM. However, OTFS SE performance in multi-cell systems is limited by inter-cell interference (ICI). This emphasizes the need for delay-Doppler (DD) domain multi-cell resource allocation strategies in order to reduce the impact of ICI on the SE performance of OTFS based multi-cell systems. © 2023 IEEE.
