This paper inaugurates a hybrid non-linear control strategy for DC-DC boost converter in a DC motor driven system. Conventional control methods struggle with the non-linearities and uncertainties of the real world system that results into downgrading both performance and efficiency. The hybrid controller integrates the backstepping approach with double-integral sliding mode technique to efficiently manage the changes, disturbances and uncertainties of the DC motor driven system. This paper also incorporates a comparative simulation study with a PID controller to show the robustness and stability of the proposed hybrid controller.

Lead toxicity in PSCs necessitates exploration of lead-free alternatives where KSnI 3 emerges as a considerable option. Since, the ETL regulates the performance of the cells, this study investigates the influence of various types of doping for the ZnO as an ETL for KSnI3-based PSC through SCAPS-1D simulation. The effect of dopant type (Al, In, P) on electrical properties (Jsc, Voc, FF, PCE) was examined within the FTO/ETL/KSnI3/CuI/Au device structure. Indium-doped ZnO exhibited the highest performance, achieving a PCE of 21.84%, representing a 0.85% absolute improvement in PCE and a 4.05% relative improvement compared to the undoped ZnO reference cell (PCE = 20.99%). This demonstrates a significant efficiency gain through doping. Comparing the other dopants, Al based model also outperformed the undoped ZnO cell as it reached 21.37% PCE, but the P-doped ZnO fell behind the undoped model since it only reached 19.82% of PCE. This improvement is attributed to In-ZnO’s higher electron mobility (μe), which improvess charge transfer and minimizes recombination losses. Additionally, its optimized band alignment with the KSnI 3 absorber facilitates effective charge extraction, further boosting the power conversion efficiency (PCE) compared to Al-ZnO and P-ZnO. These findings emphasize the potential of In-doped ZnO ETLs to enhance the performance and efficiency of lead-free KSnI3-based PSCs.

Solar distillation is a viable method for transforming salty water into potable drinking water, especially advantageous in rural regions with restricted access to clean water. This research presents an innovative pyramid-shaped solar still with a basin size of 0.836 m 2 , aimed at improving output. The system has evacuated tubes directly connected to the basin’s bottom side, complemented with black stones inside the basin to enhance heat absorption. The experimental configuration was refined for the geographical coordinates of Bandarban, Bangladesh (Latitude: 22°11’41.8"N, Longitude: 92°13’12.6"E). Performance assessments were performed under three operating conditions: (1) the solar still alone, (2) the Evacuated Tube Collector (ETC) independently, and (3) the solar still in conjunction with the ETC. The findings indicated a peak daily distilled water production of 2 liters from the still alone, which rose to 3.9 liters when integrated with the evacuated tubes, demonstrating a 95% increase in output. Thermal efficiency was assessed, revealing values of 18.61% for the standalone still, 20% for the standalone ETC, and 21.95% for the integrated system. Moreover, the water quality examination revealed a substantial decrease in salt (CaCO 3 ) concentration, decreasing from 391.93 ppm to 5.11 ppm, thus validating the system’s efficacy in delivering potable water. The results underscore the possibility of integrating solar stills with evacuated tube collectors to enhance distillation efficiency and yield.

As the United Nations stresses towards clean energy, via its sustainable development goals (goal number 7), animate prime movers are yet another renewable energy resource, which may contribute towards the betterment of humanity. Though considered out-of-place in the modern and futuristic human society, their appropriate utilization, while ensuring welfare elements, can still provide benefits to mankind. In fact, various modern pieces of research mention animal based work in different areas. The current article discusses two concept schemes for renewable/sustainable power generation via animals – issues with prior art have been discussed to bring out the effectiveness of the presented schemes. Furthermore, a simulation based study has been presented in this article, which is another contribution, because studies of animal based power generation, generally do not include simulation work. Lastly, a methodology for training an expert system to detect the fatigue of a power generating animal, has also been briefly discussed in this manuscript.
