In this paper, a rectangular inset feed microstrip antenna with defected ground plane for UWB application is presented. It is found that by making symmetrical T-shape slots just beneath the radiating patch in the ground plane results UWB characteristics. Parasitic effect is minimized by optimization in the shape of slot like width and length, so that uniform return loss is obtained in the entire UWB range. The simulated and fabricated antenna design shows return loss below-12 dB and voltage standing wave ratio below 2 in the entire UWB range. A very wide impedance bandwidth of 11.2 GHz at-10dB return loss has been obtained. Further, band notching property to avoid the signal interference from existing WiMax system in the environment has been obtained by varying ground structure. The effect of first T-cut slot in ground structure has been observed to result band notching from 3.28 to 4.58 GHz. Therefore, the proposed antenna overcomes the signal interference problem with existing WiMax IEEE 802.16 system and can be suitably used for UWB application.

The friction and wear characteristics of lauroyl glutamine, lauroyl glycine and lauroyl alanine, used as green additives in HVI 350 mineral lubricating oil, were evaluated on a four-ball tribotester. The morphologies and chemical species of the worn surfaces were analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscope (XPS), respectively. The test results indicated that the three fatty acyl amino acids could effectively improve the anti-wear and friction-reducing abilities of the HVI 350 mineral oil. The improvement in anti-wear and friction-reducing abilities of the mineral oil by the related amino acids was mainly ascribed to the formation of a composite boundary lubrication film due to the adsorption of amino acids on the friction surfaces.

From clinical practice, it is known that the carotid artery bifurcation is a zone where the flux is strongly perturbed, and is sensitive to the development of atherosclerotic lesions. In this work the computerized simulation of the hemodynamic behavior of non-Newtonian blood flow in the 3D model of carotid artery bifurcation with 3 different apex angle and varying mass flow rates at the entrance of CCA, using CFD method is studied. A considerable approach toward the realistic physiological conditions, such as applying the shear thinning behavior of viscoelastic blood flow by employing Carreau-Yasuda model in a practical geometry has been made. It is observed that the lesions might be appeared at the apex of the bifurcation junction and represents a risk factor by modification the blood flow pattern, flow separation, recirculation regions and wall shear stress gradients. Also sites within the carotid artery that experience low and oscillating shear stress namely the posterior wall of carotid sinus in ICA, are more likely to develop atherosclerotic plaque which could lead to stroke.
