Half-wavelength AC transmission (HWACT) is an ultra-long distance AC transmission technology, whose electrical distance is close to half-wavelength at the system power frequency. The countries with a large territory have a big demand for HWACT. The fault characteristics of an HWACT line can be different from those of a conventional transmission line. So it is necessary and significant to analyze the fault characteristics of an HWACT line. In this paper, the influence of fault distances and fault resistances on the fault voltages and currents of two buses is analyzed after different types of faults occur on an HWACT line. And the analysis results are compared with the simulation results from EMTP.

This paper describes methods for the analysis and design of control applications with real-time constraints, which allow data losses in the sensing-to-actuation path governed by the property of (m, k)-firmness. An automaton consisting of open- and closed-loop dynamics and a graph representing (m, k)-firmness defines the overall system behavior as a constrained switched linear system. The worst-case quadratic cost is analyzed for a given optimal linear quadratic regulator design. A simple analytic upper bounding method is compared to a method based on solving a (computationally more complex) semidefinite program. Furthermore, control design methods for performance improvement for the worst case are presented. A known LMI-based method is compared to an iterative controller improvement scheme inspired by ideas from dynamic programming. Conservatism and computational effort of the methods are discussed. A numerical example is used for illustration.

Wireless infrastructure such as WiFi is a practical option for mobile robot indoor positioning system since many recent building incorporated WiFi solutions in their building. The mobile robot development cost could be greatly reduced especially in the case of multiple robots. The measurement of the WiFi RSS is an essential key point for positioning on fingerprinting approach. Two parameters are concerned which are the WiFi AP antenna heights and the separation distance between the WiFi AP and the receiver. Therefore, it is desirable to see the impact of both parameters in WiFi RSS measurements. In this paper, a series of experiment has been carried accordingly to the design of experiment order. Later, analysis of variance (ANOVA) is performed in order to investigate the most significant parameter for mobile robot positioning system. The result shows that Tx-Rx separation plays the most significant role with zero P-value while the insignificant antenna height parameter is larger than the confident level, α. This observation is later validated by actual mobile robot positioning via fingerprinting technique using the weighted K-nearest neighbor (WKNN) positioning algorithm.

This study is focused on the basic mechanism of the laser coloring technique to the titanium by using Nd/YVCM laser. Relation between laser irradiation parameters and obtained color has been carefully investigated by color evaluation and surface roughness measurement. The obtained colors changed as the input energy increase and the trend of color change matched qualitatively to the theoretical estimation assuming that the thickness of the layer becomes higher by increase of the input energy. On the other hand, as the surface became rough, the color became dark. Therefore it can be concluded that if laser parameters are suitably controlled, arbitrary value of hue and brightness can be obtained.

We investigated the characteristics of stock price manipulation. Two manipulation models were studied: pump-and-dump and spoof trading. Pump-and-dump is a procedure to buy a stock and push its price up. Then, the manipulator dumps all of the stock he holds to make a profit. Spoof trading is a procedure to trick other investors that a stock should be bought or sold at the manipulated price. We constructed mathematical models that use level 2 data for both procedures, and used them to generate a training set consisting of buy/sell orders within on order book of 10 dept.s. Order cancellations, which are important indicators for price manipulation, are also visible in our level 2 data. In this paper, we consider a challenging scenario where we attempt to use less-detailed level 1 data to detect manipulations even though using level 2 data is more accurate. We implemented feedforward neural network models that have level 1 data, containing less-detailed information (no information about order cancellation), but is more accessible to investors as input. The neural network model achieved 88.28% for detecting pump-and-dump but it failed to model spoof trading effectively.

This work presents a failure recovery approach for foreseen failures of automated production systems to minimize the downtime of a system due to stoppages. In contrast to the common practice of implementing field control software, we suggest the use of operation states with pre- and postconditions. A set of operation states forms an operation state machine, whereby several operation state machines are used in a hierarchical manner in order to control and observe the process. The meta-model of the systems Modeling Language (SysML) is extended to combine operation state machines with OMAC State Machines. By dividing the failure detection from the process controller the necessary flexibility is given to adapt this approach to different packaging machines.

The mobile robot has been one of the hottest fields in recent years, it has been widely applied in the most critical and efficient occasions in the industry, meanwhile, path planning becomes a frontier and interesting research topic for the mobile robot. In this paper, firstly mobile robot is introduced, some universal path planning algorithms of the mobile robot are reviewed, then a fuzzy logic and filter smoothing based on the data from the laser scan sensor is proposed, the path planning and autonomous obstacle avoidance based on this algorithm is emphasized because it can automatically find the best path according to the size and position of gaps between the obstacles in the dynamic environment, finally our designed mobile robot and corresponding Android APP are introduced, the path planning and obstacle avoidance algorithms are tested on this mobile robot, the testing results show this algorithm has the advantage of responding quickly, global optimized and hardware resource saved compared with other algorithms, it is suitable for the mobile robot that is designed on the embedded system and it can meet our designed requirement.

In this paper, a method for design of linear decentralized robust controllers for a class of uncertain large-scale systems in general form is presented. For a given large-scale system, an equivalent descriptor system in input-output decentralized form is defined. Using this representation, closed-loop diagonal dominance sufficient conditions are derived. It is shown that by appropriately minimizing the weighted sensitivity function of each isolated subsystem, these conditions are achieved. Solving the appropriately defined H∞local problem for each isolated uncertain subsystem, the interactions between the subsystems are reduced, and the overall stability and robust performance are achieved in spite of uncertainties. The designs are illustrated by a practical example.

In this paper, a new DSC-PLL(Delayed Signal Cancellation Phase Locked Loop) with FLL(Frequency Locked Loop) based on RDFT(recursive discrete fourier transform) method is proposed for coping with frequency variation. This method shows significant performance improvement for detection of fundamental positive sequence component voltage when the grid voltage is polluted by grid harmonics and frequency variation. The frequency detection technique of DSC-PLL tracks frequency drift by the RDFT. These compensation algorithms can correct for discrepancies of changing the frequency within maximum 28ms and improve traditional DSC-PLL. To verify feasibility of the proposed DSC-PLL, Matlab/Simulink results show good agreement with the analysis.

This paper presents an isolated type of single-phase matrix converter topology for PHV/EV on-board battery chargers. The proposed converter is comprised of a full bridge inverter, a high frequency transformer and a matrix converter. Due to the lack of DC link bus in matrix converter, in order to suppress the power fluctuation, a power decoupling method which only employs a center-tapped high frequency transformer and a small LC buffer where requires no additional switches is applied. On the other hand, the matrix converter applies PDM (Pulse Density Modulation) which achieve ZVS (zero voltage switching) in order to generate a 50Hz/60Hz sinusoidal waveform at the grid side. As a result, this converter shows promising features small size and high efficiency. In this paper, by harmonic analysis, the effectiveness of power decoupling method is evaluated in two cases: the PDM based on the PWM as a conventional method and the PDM based on the delta-sigma conversion. In the experimental results, the power decoupling method with the PDM based on the delta-sigma conversion reduces the DC bus current ripple by 84.8% comparing to the case where the power decoupling method is not applied, while the output voltage distortion is reduced by 64.1% compared with that of the PDM based on the PWM is applied. © 2015 IEEE.
