This paper discusses signal transmission in the grounding system. During online partial discharge (PD) measurement for the high voltage (HV) apparatus, various PD pulse currents recharge the dielectric of HV apparatus when a PD occurs. One of the noise typologies that affects PD patterns is called the cross-talk, that is, discharges that appear in the measured point due to coupling from another point. In order to study the cross-talk signal, the two PD measuring circuits which are circuit no.1 and circuit no.2, on the same grounding system in the HV laboratory were performed. The distance between two PD measuring circuits is about 20 meters. The artificial PD models were utilized to generate the PD signal injecting to the test circuit no.1, while the cross-talk signals were investigated in circuit no.2. The HFCT sensors were used to measure the PD signal in circuit 1 and the cross-talk signal in circuit 2. The measurement results found that the cross-talk signal transmission in grounding systems provides a bipolar PRPD pattern, and the pulse waveform shows an oscillation shape. Moreover, onsite PD measurements of the generator steam turbine were studied. It is noticeable that the knowledge about cross-talk phenomena in grounding systems can help the PD verification and location for online PD measurement. © 2022 IEEE.

Centralized systems that require third parties remain opaque and represent a single point of failure. Therefore, in accordance with the requirements of cloud services and identity management mechanisms, it is necessary to move towards more transparent and collaborative methods. That is, all service providers under the same federation deal positively with the issued identity of the user. The distributed format gives good potential for ID management systems and treats everyone with the same level of validity. This paper presents a blockchain-based identity management system for the purpose of creating a federated identity management system that is used by multiple organizations by Taking advantage of decentralization and high transparency in the blockchain. Several vital advantages of blockchain are positive for forming identity management systems characterized by transparency and high security, and privacy. Implementing the proposed system on a private Hyperledger Fabric blockchain network proved effective according to the criteria studied, and there is also great potential for improvement. The practical application of the proposed system proved high quality and promising possibilities in blockchain based identity management. © 2023 IEEE.

With the rapid development of computer technology and the Internet of Things (IoT), a large amount of data containing both healthy and faulty states can be collected from existing devices in factories. However, the usable faulty state data is scarce. Transfer learning makes it possible to train efficient and reliable neural networks with a small number of samples. Domain adaptation, as a branch of transfer learning, can effectively realize knowledge transfer between small sample data. Starting from three subcategories of deep learning-based domain adaptation methods, this article summarizes the latest research achievements and provides insights into future research directions. © 2023 IEEE.

For RGB semantic segmentation, a two-branch network was proposed to effectively utilize both local detail information and global contextual information within an RGB image. This architecture combines a shallow spatial path with a deeper context path, resulting in high performance and FPS. Research on RGB-dept. segmentation has shown the performance gain that the dept. map could provide complementary information to the RGB model. However, the advantage of fusing RGB and dept. map within a two-branch network framework is unclear due to the distinct characteristics of these modalities. To address this, we present a novel fusion RGB-dept. architecture that takes into account the attributes of local context, global context, RGB, and dept. map. Through the bidirectional image dept. fusion technique, we effectively leverage each of the modalities, achieving a performance of 81.23 mIoU. This marks a gain of 1.27% when compared to the RGB-only model and 0.45% when contrasted with the element-wise feature addition fusion baseline. © 2023 IEEE.

Current optimization methods for microgrid scheduling face issues such as insufficient precision in energy distribution, high operational costs, and inefficiency. In response to these challenges, an optimization scheduling method for multi-energy microgrids based on the QUBO (Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization) quantum computing model is proposed in this paper, alongside a discretization approach based on a grid partitioning strategy. To validate the feasibility of addressing microgrid optimization scheduling problems in a quantum computing environment, a QUBO model is constructed and simulation studies are conducted in the qbsolv environment provided by D-Wave. The results indicate that operational costs are significantly reduced with an increase in the number of grids, particularly a reduction of 4.52% when the number of grids increases from five to ten. This method not only effectively enhances the precision of electricity supply and energy utilization efficiency but also reduces unnecessary electrical waste and economic costs. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. This paper presents investigations of a transformerless half bridge sub-module (HBSM) modular multilevel converter based distribution static synchronous compensator (MMC D-STATCOM) performance in reactive power compensation considering the application of the modified ADRC controllers in the inner current loop and in the outer DC voltage loop using Synchronous Reference Frame control. Simulation results with the imposition of severe variations in reactive loads were obtained on a 5 km medium voltage feeder and will demonstrate that the modified ADRC controller enables superior performance for flexible operation with fast and efficient response of the MMC D-STATCOM in reactive power compensation. © 2023 IEEE.

To a great extent, electric machine (EM) lifetime is affected by electrical failures that compromise the integrity of the windings electrical insulation system (EIS). During EMs operation, the EIS suffered various stresses, such as, thermal, electrical, mechanical and ambient (TEAM), which lead the deterioration and decrease the dielectric property of EIS. However, under rated operating conditions, the entire degradation process can take several years before insulation breakdown occurs. Thus, accelerated lifetime tests (ALT) are conventionally performed on various high stress level. Furthermore, the suitable specimen topology should be chosen according to the ALT task objectives, which is also crucial to the resulted lifetime values. In this paper, ALTs at variable temperature profile are performed using two types of specimens (i.e., coils and motorettes). Then, the collected lifetime data are analyzed by statistical tools and the underlying stress mechanism is discussed. Finally, the thermal-mechanical stress is pointed out as the primary factor contributing to lifetime prediction mismatch. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper addresses model predictive control of a class of linear systems subject to additive stochastic disturbances and constraints. The underlying stochastic optimal control problem combines inverse cumulative distribution functions with ellipsoid-in-polyhedron formulations to reduce the conservatism induced by constraint satisfaction. By use of terminal constraints and time-varying weights within the cost functional, the presented control scheme satisfies criteria for mean-square stability and can be adapted to reference-tracking problems for arbitrary reference signals.

The protection and control system in substations has undergone significant evolution since the era of hardwired systems. In recent years, the increasing trend of digital transformation (DX) across various fields, including protection and automation systems, has led to the promotion of IEC 61850 process bus-based digital substations. However, recent analysis and evaluation have revealed numerous challenges in various aspects, such as technical issues, system performance, test methods, maintenance, and economic considerations. Moreover, many of these challenges lie outside the scope of international standards like IEC 61850 and IEC 61869. As a result, the worldwide implementation of digital substations has been hindered. This paper aims to describe the issues encountered during the implementation of process bus technology and propose solutions that focus on optimizing system configuration based on our experience in implementing digital substation projects and developing MU and IED. Addressing these issues is crucial to fully unlocking the potential of digital substations. One of the most promising advantages is the availability of digital data collected from substation equipment. By utilizing this data, overall power system operational efficiency can be enhanced, and equipment management can be optimized. Predictive maintenance can be implemented, enabling the early detection of potential equipment failures, minimizing unplanned outages, and reducing the need for emergency repairs, which contribute to unnecessary carbon emissions and equipment downtime. Ultimately, digital substations empower end-users to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency, and seamlessly integrate power systems, thereby supporting the carbon-neutral initiative and facilitating the transition towards a sustainable energy future. © 2023 IEEE.

Heat pumps can play a crucial role in the European energy strategy 2050, which aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. When coupled with thermal energy storage and integrated with advanced control strategies, heat pump operation can be optimized to reduce carbon footprint and respond to the needs of system operators. However, to scale in a multitude of buildings, the transferability of the modeling into heterogeneous systems is crucial. In this paper, two different interpretable linear models, a hybrid (grey-box) and a fully data-driven (black-box) model are investigated. Specifically, two regression-based identification methods (SINDYc and DMDc) are used for dynamic models and the LASSO regression is used for static models. The transferability of the approach is evaluated using two real-world facilities with heterogeneous sizing and configuration. The results show a similar simulation performance for both cases with a maximum normalized RMSE of 0.41 and 0.60, respectively. This confirms the transferability of the approach that is necessary for large-scale implementation. © 2023 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.
