Food demand is expected to grow substantially as a result of major factors such as population. It necessitates that food manufacturers streamline their supply chain to accommodate shorter product life cycles. To manage sustainable food solutions and successful supply chain management, cyber-physical systems at the supply chain level attempt to challenge the integration of data from suppliers, manufacturing, logistics, and retail. The implementation of Cyber-Physical Retail systems (CPRS) was developed to sense and analyze dynamic market environments to modify sales and shop operation activities. The data were collected from several ERP modules and operational technology (OT) data. The shop CPS was managed using the OSIsoft-PI platform, which is based on service-oriented architecture (SOA) and then integrated into the Enterprise Cloud. The customer analytics service in CPRS was used as an example of a self-aware concept to notify the sales function and was implemented on the Azure platform. The results show that churn prediction in retail shops can be detected monthly for warning sales staff based on the customer object goal. The models that were used are RF, LR and GBC. The overall performance of GBC outperforms all measures with 78.05% accuracy. While the remaining were around 65%. © 2023 IEEE.

The purpose of this work is to analyze the capabilities of space-vector pulse-width modulation when controlling a 5-phase high-voltage cascade frequency converter in normal mode and several types of emergency situations. Taking into account the large number of controlled power transistors, an asynchronous modulation method is proposed, based on calculating the amplitude values of individual phases at each time based on the duty cycle of space vectors, which allows the control system to use independent switching in each phase. In emergency modes, when individual H-bridges are damaged, it is proposed to use the balanced space vectors method, which ensures the symmetry of the electromagnetic field in the event of a short circuit of both individual cascades and one or two phases of the inverter. Methodology. We use a mathematical and geometric interpretation of variable amplitude space vectors when projecting voltages onto a symmetrical 5-phase load. Results. Analysis of the 1st harmonic of phase voltages showed that the use of the space vector modulation method in the normal operating mode of a 5-phase converter makes it possible to increase the utilization factor of DC voltage sources by 23.1% (instead of 15.6% for a 3-phase converter). If individual H-bridges fail and the voltages in the load phases are balanced, the utilization factor may decrease, but in any case it will remain greater than 1. In this case, the higher harmonics, despite significant distortions in the shape of the phase voltages, are mutually compensated in the electromagnetic field of the load, as evidenced by absence of pulsations and shocks on the graphs of transient processes of the electromagnetic torque of the engine. Balancing of the electromagnetic field in the load is maintained even if one or two phases of the inverter are short-circuited. This significantly increases the survivability of the electric drive, which is especially important in critical mechanisms and technological processes,

The paper presents the implementation of a Continuous-Time Model Predictive control (CMPC) regulator for controlling an electrohydraulic servo system. The control object is a test bench consisting of three modules and a PC-based data acquisition and control system. The system is modeled in state-space form, accounting for parametric uncertainties. The synthesis of the model predictive controller is performed by approximating the control signal using Laguerre orthonormal functions. The article includes mathematical formulas and relationships that illustrate the modeling approach. Simulations and robust analysis of the closed-loop system are conducted. Through a real-time control system, experimental data and graphs are obtained, demonstrating the performance and optimality of the synthesized control strategy. © 2024 IEEE.

The averaged model of a current source inverter (CSI) as a voltage source inverter (VSI) dual is presented in this paper. The differential equations defining the CSI are in-troduced in matrix representation for phase-to-phase and phase-to-neutral voltages and expressed using the Clarke and Park transformations. This multiple-input, multiple-output system is studied through the transfer function matrix of the linearized model, and the results are related to original CSI dynamics. Finally, open-loop simulations using Matlab/Simulink and realtime Typhoon-HIL have been carried out to validate the models. © 2024 IEEE.

Power Domain Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (PD-NOMA) is recognized as one of the most promising technologies for next-generation multiple access in future wireless networks. Such multiplexing leads to the controlled inter-channel interference (ICI) cancelled at the receiver. In reality, ICI is represented as quadrature amplitude modulated (QAM) symbols (or other modulation). However, the vast majority of research papers use signal models in which ICI is represented as the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) with the equivalent power. Yet, such a replacement is not fully equivalent, because it reduces the accuracy of signal decoding. This is a significant simplification of the system model, which results in an additional inaccuracy in obtaining a number of system characteristics. This paper presents an approach that allows solving this problem and representing ICI as AWGN by means of a coefficient without increasing the decoding error. It also describes an expression for calculating the coefficient obtained and its performance confirmed by simulation results. © 2023 IEEE.

Heat pumps can play a crucial role in the European energy strategy 2050, which aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. When coupled with thermal energy storage and integrated with advanced control strategies, heat pump operation can be optimized to reduce carbon footprint and respond to the needs of system operators. However, to scale in a multitude of buildings, the transferability of the modeling into heterogeneous systems is crucial. In this paper, two different interpretable linear models, a hybrid (grey-box) and a fully data-driven (black-box) model are investigated. Specifically, two regression-based identification methods (SINDYc and DMDc) are used for dynamic models and the LASSO regression is used for static models. The transferability of the approach is evaluated using two real-world facilities with heterogeneous sizing and configuration. The results show a similar simulation performance for both cases with a maximum normalized RMSE of 0.41 and 0.60, respectively. This confirms the transferability of the approach that is necessary for large-scale implementation. © 2023 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

Tuning the feedback controller gains is a simple way to improve autonomous driving performance

Typical autonomous driving systems are a combination of machine learning algorithms (often involving neural networks) and classical feedback controllers. Whilst significant progress has been made in recent years on the neural network side of these systems, only limited progress has been made on the feedback controller side. Often, the feedback control gains are simply passed from paper to paper with little re-tuning taking place, even though the changes to the neural networks can alter the vehicle’s closed loop dynamics. The aim of this paper is to highlight the limitations of this approach;it is shown that retuning the feedback controller can be a simple way to improve autonomous driving performance. To demonstrate this, the PID gains of the longitudinal controller in the TCP autonomous vehicle algorithm are tuned. This causes the driving score in CARLA to increase from 73.21 to 77.38, with the results averaged over 16 driving scenarios. Moreover, it was observed that the performance benefits were most apparent during challenging driving scenarios, such as during rain or night time, as the tuned controller led to a more assertive driving style. These results demonstrate the value of developing both the neural network and feedback control policies of autonomous driving systems simultaneously, as this can be a simple and methodical way to improve autonomous driving system performance and robustness. © 2024, CC BY.

Computer networks provide exceptional privacy, primarily for testing and other educational activities. However, the security of computer networks is an exceptionally touchy subject, mainly when applied in labs and tests for educational purposes. Any software system created on a server typically requires a username and password to access a collection of computers on a particular network. The proposed work devised and implemented a neural network feedback network with four inputs (I.P. address, MAC address, user number, and time) and an output that represents the user's acceptance or rejection. A few instances of the data and numbers needed to train the neural network include the lab's address, the student's name, the academic stage's address, etc. Good results were obtained through the company's training and education, which was tested on more than 200 models, and the response aligned with the data. No user can access the network without first being recognized by the proposed network by comparing the pre-trained data to ensure they are authorized to take the exam or enter for any other reason. © 2023 IEEE.

Electroencephalography (EEG) is one of the most popular techniques to investigate normal as well as pathological cerebral mechanisms, as it allows to measure, non-invasively and in real-time, the brain activity. However, modeling EEG is still extremely challenging, because of its high-dimensionality, low signal-to-noise ratio, and high individual variability. This paper proposes a novel latent representation to study brain networks using EEG by means of a robust dynamic factor analysis (RDFA) approach. We investigate the ability of this latent representation to discriminate between two groups of subjects, i.e. alcoholic and healthy. By RDFA, we can extract a limited number of highly explanatory factors, as low as 8, significantly discriminating between the two groups. Also, we show that different brain patterns can be identified across different stimulation scenarios and EEG locations. Although preliminary, this work could give support to domain experts while providing some clinically-meaningful insights to identify common patterns as well as individual characteristics in different groups of healthy and pathological subjects.

The transition to vehicle electrification introduces new demands on chassis dynamics, paving the way for advances in driving dynamics, safety, and efficiency. A key consideration arises: how are driving torque impulses converted in electric vehicles with multiple power sources? This study introduces a novel approach to address these demands through the integration of state-of-the-art yaw control, using concurrent front/rear axle and front right/front left torque distribution based on the wheel speed balance control concept. Our aim is not necessarily to demonstrate the supremacy of our approach, but rather to present a fresh philosophical perspective on the problem of yaw control in electric vehicles. Our method embodies dynamic load transfer and axle dynamics into the yaw control problem formulation, setting it apart from current methodologies. Through experimental results, we illustrate the effectiveness of our proposed approach regardless of road surface conditions. © 2024 IEEE.
