The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in a surge in the generation of medical waste. Due to the transmissible nature of the Virus and the lack of effort at proper disposal, the safety of the front-line health workers, as well as the disposer, is at risk. Hence, to mitigate the spread of infectious diseases, a system is proposed that uses a robotic arm for segregating medical waste automatically. The robotic arm is operable through voice commands, and the segregating operation could function in automatic and manual mode. The system uses the YOLOv3 (You Only Look Once) algorithm to detect and classify the medical waste and then uses the Robot Operating System (ROS) platform to pick up and drop the waste object into color-coded bins. For this research, the medical waste has been categorized into 4 types, and for each type, a color-coded bin has been used for segregation. Our system has achieved 94% training accuracy for the YOLOv3 model on a custom dataset, whereas the system's overall accuracy in automated mode was 82.1%, derived after 30 trials. In the case of manual mode, an average accuracy of 82.5% has been achieved for the same number of trials. © 2022 IEEE.

This research study pertains to the essential problems of certificate authentication within academic organizations. It concentrates on the major issues of forgery and inefficiencies as well as administrative bottlenecks that arise in conventional systems. The usual ways, which are based on one authority organization, are likely to be compromised, move slowly on verification, and have increased overhead costs. Blockchain technology is a distributed way of doing things without a middleman, and thus it is able to improve security, transparency, and the immutability of educational records. The article identifies the shortcomings of the present blockchain-based implementations with the focus on scalability, interoperability with legacy infrastructure, and high transaction costs. In the paper, an experiment on Ethereum-based smart contracts as well as the Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA-256) and InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) technologies shows the potential of these technologies to a certificate validation system by providing cryptographic integrity and, therefore, data storage that cannot be altered. The proposed work introduces a decentralized architecture that uses smart contracts for certificate issuing and verification to some extent. By integrating cryptographic hashing mechanisms, the system provides real-time, verifiable, and immutable credential records, addressing both fraud prevention and operational inefficiencies. © 2024 IEEE.

Deepfake technology, known for its ability to produce convincingly face-swapped videos, presents significant risks to privacy, security, and public trust. Misuse of this technology for spreading misinformation, defamation, and influencing politics is on the rise, creating a pressing need for more effective detection mechanisms. As deepfake generation methods continue to advance, conventional detection techniques are increasingly unable to keep up, often falling short in accuracy and adaptability. This project aims to create an AI-driven detection system specialized in identifying face-swap deepfakes. The system focuses on subtle irregularities in facial details, movements, and the synchronization between audio and visuals. Employing neural network models such as Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks, and Capsule Networks, it pinpoints anomalies like unnatural expressions, atypical skin textures, and lighting inconsistencies. The system achieves high reliability with metrics including accuracy (96%), precision (95%), recall (94%), and F1 score (95%), showing marked improvement compared to traditional techniques. It outperforms existing methods such as XceptionNet (92%) on the Celeb-DF dataset, underscoring its superior generalizability and robustness. This scalable solution has broad applications in media, law enforcement, and cybersecurity, reinforcing efforts to combat deepfake threats and fostering improved trust and security across various sectors. © 2025 IEEE.

Real-time network monitoring is a critical requirement for tracking user activities and ensuring optimal network performance. In this paper, we propose a big data approach to real-time network monitoring that leverages the capabilities of Apache Spark, MongoDB, and Apache Kafka with Python. Our approach utilizes distributed stream processing of network data, enabling real-time analytics for user activity monitoring and network performance optimization. Our approach demonstrates the effectiveness of our system through experiments with real network traffic data, showing how it can identify and track user activities in real-time. Our system can be used by network administrators and IT professionals to optimize network performance, improve user experience, and enhance security through real-time monitoring and analysis of user activity data. This approach can also be opted as a feature in SDNs. © 2023 IEEE.

Understanding the brain's response to stress is pivotal for advancing mental health monitoring technologies. In this research paper, we leverage deep learning techniques to predict stress levels using electroencephalography (EEG) data from 10 students. This data captures brain activity during both rest and stress-induced conditions, with the stress induced through a visually demanding Stroop test. We focus on categorizing stress levels into four distinct categories: no stress, low stress, medium stress, and high stress. For analysis, we employ two advanced deep learning models, EEGNet and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), which have demonstrated significant potential in managing the complexities of EEG data and identifying intricate patterns related to different stress *** methodology in this study includes rigorous data preprocessing, segmentation, and labeling to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the model training process. The EEG data from the 10 students are combined into a single dataset, with 70% allocated for training and 30% for testing. This approach ensures a robust evaluation of the models' predictive capabilities. We systematically compare EEGNet and CNN based on accuracy, precision, recall, and other relevant metrics. Our goal is to determine which model more effectively predicts stress levels and to understand their respective strengths and limitations. This comparative analysis provides valuable insights and paves the way for future applications in real-time stress monitoring. © 2024 IEEE.

Ridesharing systems have become an important part of urban transportation. At the same time, electric vehicle (EV) adoption is also growing at a fast pace as an eco-friendly and sustainable transportation option. To operate a ridesharing system with EV fleets, scheduling an EV fleet to serve passenger requests requires consideration of both the requests, and the available charge and potential future charge requirements of the EVs. In this paper, we address the problem of scheduling EVs by a ridesharing operator, and propose four algorithms that schedule passenger requests while taking into consideration charging requirements of the EVs. With the growing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) as an eco-friendly and sustainable means of transportation, availability of adequate EV charging infrastructure has become very important. While fixed charging stations are the primary means for public charging, they can be effectively augmented by mobile charging stations. In this paper, we address the problem of planning and operating a mobile charging station fleet by an operator. We propose an algorithm for the operator to use for route planning of the MCSs and for scheduling charging requests of EVs to them to try to maximize the number of charging requests served. Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) represent a leading global health issue, necessitating early detection and accurate diagnosis for effective treatment. Electrocardiography (ECG) serves as an essential tool that provides valuable insights into the heart's electrical activity, aiding in the identification of potential abnormalities. This project leverages machine learning techniques to enhance the diagnostic potential of ECG data, paving the way for improved cardiovascular care through precision medicine. The methodology focuses on training machine learning models to analyze ECG signals and classify heartbeats into categories that reflect various cardiac conditions. A com- prehensive dataset of approximately 20,000 ECG recordings, encompassing a wide range of heart rhythms and anomalies, establishes a robust foundation for model training. The Decision Tree classifier achieves an outstanding accuracy of 97%, demonstrating the ability to detect subtle patterns in ECG data. Furthermore, the Random Forest classifier showcases strong performance in distinguishing between different cardiac rhythms. Key metrics, such as precision, recall, and F1-score, provide a deeper understanding of the classifier's diagnostic effectiveness. The confusion matrix serves as a visualization tool to pinpoint areas where model adjustments are necessary, further enhancing accuracy. These promising results highlight the potential of machine learning in transforming cardiac health monitoring and improving diagnostic processes, ultimately contributing to better patient care and outcomes. By harnessing advanced algorithms, this project illustrates the immense possibilities for integrating machine learning into modern healthcare systems. © 2024 IEEE.
