The continuous alteration of living landscape in earth due to the greatest impact of information technology has converted the whole earth into a small digital village. That means anyone could share information in any form with any other person residing anywhere in the earth. With the availability of information and communication technology like cloud computing, heterogeneous networking, crowd sensing, web services and data mining, anywhere and anytime information sharing is possible, but this will bring out lot of challenges like incompatibility in standards, data portability, data aggregation, data dissemination, differential context and communication overhead. The ICT has changed many aspects of human lifestyle, work places and living spaces. However, there is one sector namely agriculture which has been deprived of the real advantages of ICT. Hence, there exists a digital divide between farming industry and other industries. Farming industry consumes large amount of natural resources such as water, energy and fertilizers that could escalate issues such as global warming, soil degradation and depletion of ground water to the next level. To reduce the global warming effect, farming industry needs to be integrated with relevant technologies. This paper proposes ubiquitous context oriented middleware architecture for precision agriculture (LA-COMPa) to solve major issues such as waste of water, improper application of fertilizer, choice of wrong crops and season, poor yield and lack of marketing.

The computing education community expects modern curricular guidelines for information technology (IT) undergraduate degree programs by 2017. The authors of this work focus on eliciting and analyzing Latin American academic and industry perspectives on IT undergraduate education. The objective is to ensure that the IT curricular framework in the IT2017 report articulates the relationship between academic preparation and the work environment of IT graduates in light of current technological and educational trends in Latin America and elsewhere. Activities focus on soliciting and analyzing survey data collected from institutions and consortia in IT education and IT professional and educational societies in Latin America;these activities also include garnering the expertise of the authors. Findings show that IT degree programs are making progress in bridging the academic-industry gap, but more work remains. Beacon is an in door positioning system provided by Apple based on BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) technology. Smart devices, such as iPhone or Android phone can detect advertising signals sent by the low energy consumption tiny device. Notifications will be pushed automatically to the user when smart device with iBeacon Apps come to certain areas. It provides promising and portfolio usage scenarios for business, such as retail stores, to push related information about customers' interested items with the awareness of customers' location. This technology also can be used in museum scenario. In this research, we described the principle of iBeacon, and addressed a design of interaction system between visitors and collections supported by iBeacon technology.

Recent advancement in hardware technology provides sensor nodes capable to process multimedia signal. However, the strict limitations in terms of processing power, storage, bandwidth etc. pose a great challenge to data processing in wireless multimedia sensor network (WMSN). In this paper we propose an energy saving audio data compression technique for WMSN using partial DCT (PDCT), where only the last DCT coefficient is propagated thereby saves energy by transmitting reduced number of bits. We have considered an application domain where data are co-related and we have also considered a 2D architecture where nodes are randomly placed. Along with the proposed PDCT based scheme a tree based routing scheme is also proposed with an aim to reduce energy consumption further. The design feasibility along with simulation results evaluate efficacy of the scheme in terms of two conflicting parameters viz. energy consumption and SNR. The comparative results confirm our scheme's supremacy over the competing scheme. © 2014 IEEE.

This paper introduces a pronunciation verification method to be used in an automatic assessment therapy tool of child disordered speech. The proposed method creates a phonebased search lattice that is flexible enough to cover all probable mispronunciations. This allows us to verify the correctness of the pronunciation and detect the incorrect phonemes produced by the child. We compare between two different acoustic models, the conventional GMM-HMM and the hybrid DNN-HMM. Results show that the hybrid DNNHMM outperforms the conventional GMM-HMM for all experiments on both normal and disordered speech. The total correctness accuracy of the system at the phoneme level is above 85% when used with disordered speech. Copyright © 2014 ISCA.

In surveillance video technologies,background subtraction algorithm(BSA) is usually used for getting motion human body foreground from backgroundUnder the condition that there are little chromatic aberration between background and foreground,BSA gets an incomplete human body because the similar foreground is divided into the backgroundA novel technology is proposed in this paper to solve this problemThe technology is divided into three stages:i) using BSA at the same time in different color channels and areas with different threshold;ii) adding all outputs obtained from i)and getting better segmentation results than the original BSA's;iii) repairing segmentation results from ii) with inpainting technologyThe results of experiment show that the technology works well when little differences between the foreground and the background

This paper attempts to follow the perspective of cognitive neuroscience,develops digital encoding technique for characteristic frequency bands of brainwave to indentify whether the learner is resting,asleep,or reasoning while conducting on-line *** strength and frequency of each brainwave frequency bands with respect to test learner's different psychological conditions,such as resting,asleep,and logical reasoning are extracted by brainwave *** extracted measurements are digital encoded and compiled statistics to characterize learner's internal mind-body *** the digital encoding,the learning system can easily identify the learner's psychological status by comparing the difference of digital encoding of different psychological context.

Printed material is no longer the only learning medium in the age of information explosion;it has been replaced by e-learning medium such as computer, e-book, PDA, and others. Would the nature of these mediums make a difference in learners' brainwave energy band distribution and affect learning efficiency indirectly? This paper from the perspective of cognitive neuroscience investigates the difference of brainwave energy band distribution of relaxing readers when exercising traditional paper reading and modern e-learning. The research shows both types of mediums share the same brainwave pattern;however, modern e-learning medium has a stronger brainwave learning energy.

This research proposed a formula for calculating the concentration based on the view of cognitive neuroscience and a design of Brain computer Interface(BCI) to show the strength of concentration when performing the direction recognition. The experiences proceeded by catching brainwave signals of human vision while sensing the test interfaces of graphics representing direction by brain-wave sensor and analyzed the characteristic frequency band of the brainwave related to direction recognition, then formulate the attention index of direction recognition based on the cognitive neuroscience. This research is to analyze and discuss every kind of brainwave frequency band characteristics while subjects recognize the directions;moreover, the proposed brain computer interface not only could demonstrate the strength of the subject's attention, but also could provide subject to play the contest of brainwave game with virtual computer player, providing the feasibility of future brainwave application development
