The availability of low-cost hardware coupled with the advancement of VLSI technology has promoted the development of wireless multimedia sensor network (WMSN). However, the strict constraints in terms of processing power, storage, bandwidth etc. pose a great challenge to data processing in WMSN. In this paper we propose an energy-saving audio data compression technique for WMSN combining wavelet lifting with a newly proposed difference detection technique for an application domain where data are correlated and placed in a 2D grid. In addition to capturing spatial correlation by wavelet, this scheme captures temporal correlation by introducing the difference detection round. A routing scheme is also proposed with a target to reduce energy consumption further. Performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated through analysis on design and simulation results. While analysis on design establishes design feasibility, simulation results evaluate efficacy of the scheme in terms of two conflicting parameters viz. energy consumption and SNR. Finally the comparative results confirm our scheme's supremacy over the competing scheme in both respects.

In this work, we implement a new rewiring based flow for FPGA performance improvement in post layout design stage. The rewiring engine is based on SPFD techniques, which is demonstrated to be suitable to work on LUT-based FPGA circuit. The rewiring engine is coupled with the routing stage of VPR, which is currently the most powerful academic CAD tool for FPGA design. While comparing with the already high quality timing results provided by VPR, our new flow can further reduce the delay of the critical path by 11.72% averagely without affecting the original placement or increasing the circuit area. We also compared the results of SPFD-based rewiring with ATPG-based rewiring, which is another most commonly used rewiring technique for FPGA delay optimization. Experiments demonstrate that on LUTbased FPGAs, the SPFD-based is more powerful than the ATPG-based rewiring scheme in finding useful alternative wires to replace target wires for delay improvement, under comparable CPU time.

Data-centric storage wireless sensor networks in general provide in-network node repositories to keep sensory data for later use. However, most of previous studies pay less attention to data security issues, so that the sensory data could be easily explored to the intruders. The p DCS scheme although has implemented with data protection mechanism, it incurs a lot of rekeying message traffics while a node was compromised, and thus greatly consumes network energy. In this paper, based on the Exclusion Basis System(EBS), we propose an efficient and distributed key management protocol, termed as ERP-DCS, to improve p DCS's deficiency. Through extensive simulations, we conclude that: at a slight increase on the number of keys(about one more key) stored in each node, the proposed scheme can achieve about 70% reduction on rekeying message overheads, and thus elongates the network lifetime.

In this paper a novel localization technique is proposed using fuzzy logic and genetic algorithm to get nearly precise location of sensor nodes, in a range free localization system. This localization technique gives a stable system in which both magnitude and range of the error are very low. Various membership functions (MF) are tested among which the Sinc MF provides the best results for the system. Genetic algorithm is used to optimize the knowledge base of the fuzzy system and the simulations are done employing Mamdani fuzzy interference method. A thorough analysis compares the accuracy of the proposed system to that of the basic Centroid localization methods. Error analysis is shown using violin plot i.e. a combination of box plot and kernel density plot for the validation of the proposed model.

Many different techniques and researches on reducing the radiation dose for computed tomography(CT) examinations have been reported and developed in recent 30 years. However, most those technologies are not practical enough to enable them to be directly and easily implemented in clinic real applications because there is no directly relationship between those techniques and the actual CT scanning parameters to be applied on most clinic pediatric CT examinations. In this study, a practical and flexible technique chart is developed to enable radiologists to select the optimal tube voltage and tube current for the given body-size of the pediatric patients with the desired CT dose index(CTDI vol). This chart can be easily implemented in most clinics for routine pediatric CT examinations.

In this paper, we propose a Wi-TCP protocol to reduce a packet loss during handoffs to enhance TCP behavior where TCP sender is competent to distinguish non congestion losses. Wi-TCP has been implemented using NS-2 in mobile IP supporting Wireless Access Technology IEEE 802.11 and evaluated by implementing HF,FF and FH schemes.
