a real-time foreground moving object detection algorithm based on Kernel Density Estimation in srgb color space is proposed in this paper, followed by an iterative noise reduction procedure, which removes dispersed noise and enhances the foreground contour in a binary image mask within a Bayesian framework. A simulated annealing strategy is applied in MRF-type decision making at the texture level to accelerate the convergence of the iterative noise reduction procedure. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm can resist undesirable effects of changing environmental illumination and shadow. Compared to several classical methods, better detection results are achieved on various datasets including both indoor and outdoor cases.

This paper presents a smart input device based on multimodal analysis methods using human bio-signals. The core of the smart input device is software modules, which consist of an intelligent driving function and an analysis processing function for bio-signals. The smart input device utilizes a multimodal interface that analyzes and recognizes human bio-signal patterns. The multimodal analysis system can recognize a user's emotional and stress status by analyzing an electrocardiogram (ECG), and it can determine the user's level of concentration from electroencephalogram (EEG) patterns. To analyze the concentration, stress, and emotional status of the user, the EEG rendering system and ECG analysis system use five signal values, i.e., MID-BETA, THETA, ALPHA, DELTA, GAMMA, and the P, Q, R, S and T waves. A reformation of SVM and a clustering algorithm were applied to the user's EEG and ECG signal patterns for body context recognition. In our experiment, the on/ off status of the user's stress status controls the difficulties of the game, such as the selecting the type of race course or the number of obstacles. In addition, the speed of the car can be controlled depending on the concentration or non-concentration status of the user. The stress status of the user was predicted with an accuracy of 83.2% by the K-means algorithm, and the concentration status was predicted with an accuracy of 71.85% by the SVM algorithm. We showed that a bio-signal interface is quite useful and feasible for new games. © IFIP International Federation for Information Processing 2012.

Falls detection systems have been developed in recent years because falls are detrimental events that can have a devastating effect on health of the elderly population. Current fall detecting methods mainly employ accelerometer to discriminate falls from activities of daily living（ADL）. However, this makes it difficult to distinguish real falls from certain fall-like activities such as jogging and jumping. In this paper, an accurate fall detection system was implemented using two tri-axial accelerometers. By attaching the accelerometers on the chest and the abdomen, our system can effectively differentiate between falls and non-fall *** Diff and Sumiff parameter resulted in falls detection rate of 100%, respectively.

Service oriented architectures allow modelling engines to be hosted over the Internet abstracting physical hardware configuration and software deployments from model users. Many existing environmental models are deployed as desktop applications running on user's personal computers (PCs). Migration to service-based modelling centralizes the modelling functions to service hosts on the Internet. Users no longer require high-end PCs to run models and model updates encapsulating science advances can be disseminated more rapidly by hosting the modelling functions centrally via an Internet host instead of requiring software updates to user's PCs. In this paper we present the Cloud Services Innovation Platform (CSIP), an Infrastructure-as-a-Service cloud application architecture, used to prototype development of distributed and scalable environmental modelling services. CSIP aims to provide modelling as a service to support both interactive (synchronous) and batch (asynchronous) modelling. CSIP enables cloud-based computing resources to be harnessed for both new and existing environmental models supporting the disaggregation of work into subtasks which execute in parallel using a scalable number of virtual machines. This paper presents CSIP's implementation using the RUSLE2 model as a prototype model. RUSLE2 model service benchmarks are presented to demonstrate performance gains from using cloud resources. We also provide benchmarks for virtualization overhead observed using popular virtual machine hypervisors and demonstrate how application profile characteristics significantly impact performance when virtualized.

With the increasing number of the elderly people,considerable research efforts have focused on developing homecare *** of these services are able to provide good cares,but most of them need professionals to configure the service *** paper presents a Do-It-Yourself （DIY） approach to creating smart daily services for the elders living *** this approach,no specific hardware is required and the user can create a new service/application simply by performing three simple operations:（1） attaching sensor（s） to object（s）,（2） taking a photo of the sensor（s） along with the object by a mobile phone’s camera,and （3） setting up the service through a graphical user *** with prior studies,our work enhances the relation between objects and sensors from one-to-one to one-to-many and resolves the device access conflict among services by introducing a priority *** easy-to-use graphical user interface is developed for the user to quickly set up applications/*** also implement a prototype of the proposed approach whose practicability is demonstrated by a simple application commonly used for the elderly people.

This paper aims at investigating a novel solution to the problem of defect detection from the images of woven fabric. Automated visual inspection systems are an attractive alternative to human visual inspection in the textile industry, especially when the quality control of products in the industry is a significant problem. In manual fault detection systems with trained inspectors, very less percentage of the defects are being detected, and thus insufficient and costly. Therefore, automated visual inspection systems are a long felt need in the textile industry. The development of an automated web inspection system requires robust and efficient fabric defect detection techniques. For the detection of fabric defects, the pre-processed image is decomposed into its bit planes. The lower order bit planes are found to carry significant information of the location and shape of defects. Then we find the exact location by means of weighted morphology. The algorithm has been evaluated on a subset of TILDA 1 image database with various visual qualities. Robustness with respect to the changes in parameters of the algorithm has been examined. The test results obtained exhibit accurate defect detection with low false alarms, thus showing the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed detection scheme.

Nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) is a linear nonnegative approximate data representation technique. NMF is often used to solve blind signal separation (BSS) problem. We had used a basic NMF algorithm named ISRA and our original algorithm named QL1-NMF to analyze the environmental electromagnetic data in extremely low frequency (ELF) band. In previous research, we found that QL1-NMF works more robust than ISRA when our data includes many outliers. However, both algorithms have a problem that their solutions are not unique. In this paper, we try to estimate signals step-by-step. We research the effect which this technique has on the uniqueness of solutions.

A substitution box (S-box) plays an important role in cryptographic *** design of S-box using chaotic systems has attracted a great deal of attention in recent years.A new method for obtaining cryptographically strong S-boxes based on spatiotemporal chaotic system is proposed in this *** discretized Baker map and affine transformation are used orderly by an algorithm to shuffle the table generated by the spatiotemporal chaotic *** cryptographical properties of these S-boxes such as bijection,nonlinearity,strict avalanche,output bits independence and equiprobable input /output XOR distribution are *** results of numerical analysis show that the S-box designed by this method can against several attacks and all the criteria for designing good S-box can be satisfied *** strong S-boxes can be obtained by this method with the change of the original conditions or control parameters of the spatiotemporal chaos ***,our approach is suitable for practical application in designing cryptosystem.

There are some problems about some optimization algorithms of Apriori such as they consume large memory space although they reduce the numbers of database scanning, or the problem about the difficulties to realize programming. This paper presents an Apriori's optimization algorithm. The algorithm first uses the order character of itemsets to reduce the times of comparison and connection when it connects and generates the candidate itemsets, then compresses the candidate itemsets according to the following situation: whether the number of element "a" in the frequent K-itemsets is less than K. Through the experiment, it is proved that the algorithm can not only realize programming easily but also improve the efficiency of mining association rules.
