GAN-DIRNet:A Novel Deformable Image Registration Approach for Multimodal Histological Images

Multi-modal histological image registration tasks pose significant challenges due to tissue staining operations causing partial loss and folding of *** neural network(CNN)and generative adversarial network(GAN)are pivotal inmedical image ***,existing methods often struggle with severe interference and deformation,as seen in histological images of conditions like Cushing’s *** argue that the failure of current approaches lies in underutilizing the feature extraction capability of the discriminator *** this study,we propose a novel multi-modal registration approach GAN-DIRNet based on GAN for deformable histological image *** begin with,the discriminators of two GANs are embedded as a new dual parallel feature extraction module into the unsupervised registration networks,characterized by implicitly extracting feature descriptors of specific ***,modal feature description layers and registration layers collaborate in unsupervised optimization,facilitating faster convergence and more precise ***,experiments and evaluations were conducted on the registration of the Mixed National Institute of Standards and Technology database(MNIST),eight publicly available datasets of histological sections and the Clustering-Registration-Classification-Segmentation(CRCS)dataset on the Cushing’s *** results demonstrate that our proposed GAN-DIRNet method surpasses existing approaches like DIRNet in terms of both registration accuracy and time efficiency,while also exhibiting robustness across different image types.

Accurately synthesizing talking face videos and capturing fine facial features for individuals with long hair presents a significant challenge. To tackle these challenges in existing methods, we propose a decomposed per-embedding Gaussian fields (DEGSTalk), a 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS)-based talking face synthesis method for generating realistic talking faces with long hairs. Our DEGSTalk employs Deformable Pre-Embedding Gaussian Fields, which dynamically adjust pre-embedding Gaussian primitives using implicit expression coefficients. This enables precise capture of dynamic facial regions and subtle expressions. Additionally, we propose a Dynamic Hair-Preserving Portrait Rendering technique to enhance the realism of long hair motions in the synthesized videos. Results show that DEGSTalk achieves improved realism and synthesis quality compared to existing approaches, particularly in handling complex facial dynamics and hair preservation. Due to the improvement of sign language (SL) recognition models, more work has started to build upon them to create end-user platforms such as video-based dictionaries. Although most of them base their design on cloud services or APIs, this approach can become expensive, especially when working with such substantial dimensional data as videos. Other realities, such as regions with low internet connection and few economic resources, can benefit from the offline alternative for deploying these systems. However, models deployed in websites' front-end or edge devices have some constraints on their size. Therefore, our work evaluates two model compression techniques to enhance the performance of on-device inference for a SL recognition model. We test knowledge quantization and distillation on three datasets varied in size, ultimately deploying and evaluating them on a locally hosted web page. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first evaluation of a quantized and distilled transformer-based SL recognition model for on-device browser inference. Furthermore, the combination of both compression techniques achieves a size reduction of up to 17.83 times and a speedup of 5.9 times the baseline. © 2024 IEEE.

In implant prosthesis treatment, the surgical guide of implant is used to ensure accurate implantation. However, such design heavily relies on the manual location of the implant position. When deep neural network has been proposed to assist the dentist in locating the implant position, most of them take a single slice as input, which do not fully explore 3D contextual information and ignores the influence of implant slope. In this paper, we design a Text Guided 3D Context and Slope Aware Triple Network (TCSloT) to integrate the perception of contextual information from multiple adjacent slices and awareness of variation of implant slopes. A Texture Variation Perception (TVP) module is correspondingly design to process the multiple slices and capture the texture variation among slices and a Slope-Aware Loss (SAL) is proposed to dynamically assign adaptive weights for the regression head. Additionally, we design a conditional text guidance (CTG) module to integrate the text condition (i.e., left, middle and right) from the CLIP to assist the implant position prediction. Extensive experiments on a dental implant dataset through five-fold cross-validation, demonstrated that the proposed TCSloT achieves superior performance than existing methods. © 2023 IEEE.

In cloud computing, tenants tend to select predefined flavors with substantial resources that go beyond their needs, in order to avoid resource starvation. As a result, cloud service providers experience a high allocation ratio with a low utilization ratio of resources. To improve the resource utilization, cloud service providers offer lower-priced resources by building an overcommitted environment to reuse resources. However, the colocation interference of workloads in the overcommitted environment may cause performance anomalies and degrade quality of service (QoS). In this paper, we propose a real-time mechanism to pin a group of workloads to a certain subset of CPUs to increase resource utilization and minimize interference. To be specific, we leverage deep reinforcement learning (DRL) to automatically adjust the CPU pinning configuration in the overcommitted environment according to the performance of workloads.

Oracle Bone Inscriptions (OBI), as the oldest form of Chinese writing, bears the precious heritage of ancient Chinese civilization. Deciphering OBI has been a monumental challenge in archaeology and philology. However, the preservation method of OBI through rubbings faces significant challenges due to severe noise interference, adversely affecting the accuracy of OBI detection. Additionally, existing traditional object detection algorithms inadequately consider the unique characteristics of OBI, making it difficult to effectively identify Oracle characters on OBI rubbings. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a novel approach to OBI detection, Oracle Character Prototype-guided cyclic disentanglement for OBI detection. These features are amalgamated into distinct character structure prototypes by capturing shared character structure features among different Oracle characters. This approach highlights the distinctive forms of Oracle characters, enhancing feature clarity and recognition. The Oracle Character Prototypes enable the model to learn common features across different character forms, improving its adaptability to various Oracle character structures and enhancing its capability to handle complexity. Moreover, to mitigate the impact of noise on detection, we introduce a cyclic disentanglement method for Oracle Bone Inscriptions. This process, utilizing the Oracle Character Prototypes and contrastive loss as supervisory signals, cyclically decouples Oracle features, isolating information rich in character structure features. This effectively mitigates the influence of noise on OBI detection. Comprehensive evaluations were conducted, comparing our method with state-of-the-art object detection algorithms, validating its effectiveness both qualitatively and quantitatively. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
