Modeling Method for DFIG-Based Wind Farm in High-Efficiency Real-Time Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) Simulations

With the increasing integration of renewable energy into power systems, electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation has become indispensable for accurate system analysis. However, the complexity of wind turbine (WT) modeling, characterized by a large number of electrical nodes, poses significant challenges and necessitates substantial real-time simulation hardware. Existing methods for reducing circuit complexity improve simulation efficiency but are each associated with inherent limitations. Aggregation methods sacrifice considerable internal station information, while existing decoupling techniques are constrained by specific requirements. This paper proposes a real-time simulation model for a Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG)-based wind farm (WF) using latency decoupling and a multi-level nested fast and simultaneous solution (M-NFSS) approach, effectively reducing node count while preserving internal details. A WF test model is implemented in RTDS for validation. Results demonstrate highly accurate impedance characteristics and time-domain waveforms of the proposed model, utilizing only 33.3% of the hardware resources compared to the traditional detailed model. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

Language-queried target sound extraction (TSE) aims to extract specific sounds from mixtures based on language queries. Traditional fully-supervised training schemes require extensively annotated parallel audio-text data, which are labor-intensive. We introduce a parallel-data-free training scheme, requiring only unlabelled audio clips for TSE model training by utilizing the contrastive language-audio pre-trained model (CLAP). In a vanilla parallel-data-free training stage, target audio is encoded using the pre-trained CLAP audio encoder to form a condition embedding, while during testing, user language queries are encoded by CLAP text encoder as the condition embedding. This vanilla approach assumes perfect alignment between text and audio embeddings, which is unrealistic. Two major challenges arise from training-testing mismatch: the persistent modality gap between text and audio and the risk of overfitting due to the exposure of rich acoustic details in target audio embedding during training. To address this, we propose a retrieval-augmented strategy. Specifically, we create an embedding cache using audio captions generated by a large language model (LLM). During training, target audio embeddings retrieve text embeddings from this cache to use as condition embeddings, ensuring consistent modalities between training and testing and eliminating information leakage. Extensive experiment results show that our retrieval-augmented approach achieves consistent and notable performance improvements over existing state-of-the-art with better generalizability. © 2025 IEEE.

The emerging virtual coupling technology aims to operate multiple train units in a Virtually Coupled Train Set(VCTS)at a minimal but safe *** guarantee collision avoidance,the safety distance should be calculated using the state-of-the-art space-time separation principle that separates the Emergency Braking(EB)trajectories of two successive units during the whole EB *** this case,the minimal safety distance is usually numerically calculated without an analytic ***,the constrained VCTS control problem is hard to address with space-time separation,which is still a gap in the existing *** solve this problem,we propose a Distributed Economic Model Predictive Control(DEMPC)approach with computation efficiency and theoretical ***,to alleviate the computation burden,we transform implicit safety constraints into explicitly linear ones,such that the optimal control problem in DEMPC is a quadratic programming problem that can be solved *** theoretical analysis,sufficient conditions are derived to guarantee the recursive feasibility and stability of DEMPC,employing compatibility constraints,tube techniques and terminal ingredient ***,we extend our approach with globally optimal and distributed online EB configuration methods to shorten the minimal distance among ***,experimental results demonstrate the performance and advantages of the proposed approaches.

With the development of information technology, various network systems are created to connect physical objects and people by sensor nodes or smart devices, providing unprecedented opportunities to realize automated interconnected systems and revolutionize people’s lives. However, network systems are vulnerable to attacks, due to the integration of physical objects and human behaviors as well as the complex spatio-temporal correlated structures of the network systems. Therefore, how to accurately and effectively model and monitor a network system is critical to ensure information security and support system automation. To address this issue, this article develops a multivariate spatio-temporal modeling and monitoring methodology for a network system by using multiple types of sensor signals collected from the network system. We first propose a Multivariate Spatio-Temporal Autoregressive (MSTA) model by integrating a Gaussian Markov Random Field and a vector autoregressive model structure to characterize the spatio-temporal correlation of the network system. In particular, we develop an iterative model learning algorithm that integrates the Bayesian inference, least squares, and a sum square error-based optimization method to learn the network structure and estimate parameters in the MSTA model. Then, we propose two spatio-temporal control schemes to monitor the network system based on the MSTA model. Numerical experiments and a real case study of an IoT network system are presented to validate the performance of the proposed method.

This paper presents a novel approach for head tracking in augmented reality (AR) flight simulators using an adaptive fusion of Kalman and particle filters. This fusion dynamically balances the strengths of both algorithms, leveraging Kalman filters for computational efficiency and particle filters for handling non-linearities based on real-time factors such as sensor noise and head movement patterns. Our method demonstrates superior tracking precision and reduced latency, making it particularly effective for immersive pilot training in AR-based flight simulations. While focused on flight simulation, our approach holds high potential for broader applications in other AR and virtual reality (VR) environments where precise, real-time head tracking is crucial. These results provide actionable design guidance for developers optimizing tracking systems in environments that require fast response times and high accuracy. Future extensions of this research could explore the generalization of our approach across diverse AR applications, including human-computer interaction (HCI), medical simulations, and gaming. © 1968-2012 IEEE.

Preserving Location Privacy of IoT Devices in Heterogeneous Edge Computing Architecture Through Deniability-Based Authentication

Edge computing moves cloud services closer to consumer Internet of Things (IoT) devices, reducing latency and bandwidth usage. This setup enables faster responses but also introduces new security challenges, particularly concerning location privacy when sender and receiver use different security techniques. The authentication process in such architectures can expose the location of IoT devices. To address this issue, researchers have proposed various privacy-preserving schemes. However, these are computationally heavy for IoT devices. To tackle this issue, we propose two novel heterogeneous deniable authentication schemes: HDA-IoT-I and HDA-IoT-II. These schemes use public-key infrastructure and identity-based cryptography to protect the location privacy of IoT devices in heterogeneous edge computing environments. Our schemes enable the designated edge device to verify the source of a message without being able to prove its origin to a third party, thus preserving privacy. Additionally, they incorporate a batch verification method, which speeds up the verification of multiple deniable authenticators. The proposed schemes are formally proven secure in the random oracle model based on the hardness assumption of elliptic curve inverse computational Diffie-Hellman problem. The performance evaluation demonstrate that our schemes significantly enhance computational and communication efficiency, making them suitable for IoT devices. © 2025 IEEE.

Invulnerability of communication networks directly related to security and reliability of networks has received increasing attention in recent years. In order to enhance the destruction resisting capacity of communication network, we propose a new invulnerability optimization method based on analog attack strategy and present an improved invulnerability measure with consideration of network connectivity and construction cost. The experimental simulations are conducted to construct four different optimized communication networks using analog attack strategy with different indicators of node centrality on the initial network respectively. Results demonstrate that the improved metric used to evaluate the economic benefits of network invulnerability is reasonable, and the proposed topology optimization method can improve the invulnerability of communication network. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Recently, federated learning (FL) has gained momentum because of its capability in preserving data privacy. To conduct model training by FL, multiple clients exchange model updates with a parameter server via Internet. To accelerate the communication speed, it has been explored to deploy a programmable switch (PS) in lieu of the parameter server to coordinate clients. The challenge to deploy the PS in FL lies in its scarce memory space, prohibiting running memory consuming aggregation algorithms on the PS. To overcome this challenge, we propose Federated Learning in-network Aggregation with Compression (FediAC) algorithm, consisting of two phases: client voting and model aggregating. In the former phase, clients report their significant model update indices to the PS to estimate global significant model updates. In the latter phase, clients upload global significant model updates to the PS for aggregation. FediAC consumes much less memory space and communication traffic than existing works because the first phase can guarantee consensus compression across clients. The PS easily aligns model update indices to swiftly complete aggregation in the second phase. Finally, we conduct extensive experiments by using public datasets to demonstrate that FediAC remarkably surpasses the state-of-the-art baselines in terms of model accuracy and communication traffic.
