The objective of image manipulation detection is to identify and locate the manipulated regions in the images. Recent approaches mostly adopt the sophisticated Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to capture the tampering artifacts left in the images to locate the manipulated regions. However, these approaches ignore the feature correlations, i.e., feature inconsistencies, between manipulated regions and non-manipulated regions, leading to inferior detection performance. To address this issue, we propose a hierarchical Graph Convolutional Network (HGCN-Net), which consists of two parallel branches: the backbone network branch and the hierarchical graph representation learning (HGRL) branch for image manipulation detection. Specifically, the feature maps of a given image are extracted by the backbone network branch, and then the feature correlations within the feature maps are modeled as a set of fully-connected graphs for learning the hierarchical graph representation by the HGRL branch. The learned hierarchical graph representation can sufficiently capture the feature correlations across different scales, and thus it provides high discriminability for distinguishing manipulated and non-manipulated regions. Extensive experiments on four public datasets demonstrate that the proposed HGCN-Net not only provides promising detection accuracy, but also achieves strong robustness under a variety of common image attacks in the task of image manipulation detection, compared to the state-of-the-arts. Storm tide disasters may lead to extensive power outage in distribution networks. The usage of energy storage resources is necessary to ensure the power critical loads. Previous research has been designed to address typhoon disasters without considering the impact of storm tides, which reduces its effectiveness. This paper proposes a multi-agent deep reinforcement learning framework to address the issues, based on the integration of power and transportation networks, facing dynamic scheduling decisions of mobile energy storage for power supply recovery after storm tide. Firstly, to simulate the dynamic allocation of power demand and energy storage resources in various regions during storm tide disasters, a coupled transportation and power grid digital twin is constructed, ensuring that Mobile Energy Storage systems (MESS) can efficiently transfer and distribute power resources between regions affected by storm tide. Then, the reinforcement learning method based on Multi-Agent Depth Q-Network (MADQN) is designed, and can optimize the real-time scheduling strategy of mobile energy storage resources, maximize power recovery efficiency, and minimize recovery time. Finally, a hazard assessment framework for storm tides in coastal cities is proposed. The experimental results show that this method has significantly improved recovery speed and power supply security after storm-tide disasters.

This paper is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest developments in fault tolerance methods for cloud computing. Maintaining high availability and reliability of cloud environments requires fault tolerance. This paper explores fault tolerance in the context of cloud computing and discusses recent challenges and innovations in the field. Moreover, it examines the ongoing research efforts to improve fault-tolerance architectures. At the end of the paper, the paper presents system-level metrics that are relevant to fault tolerance.

Generative AI (GAI) has emerged as a significant advancement in artificial intelligence, renowned for its language and image generation capabilities. This paper presents "AIGenerated Everything" (AIGX), a concept that extends GAI beyond mere content creation to real-time adaptation and control across diverse technological domains. In networking, AIGX collaborates closely with physical, data link, network, and application layers to enhance real-time network management that responds to various system and service settings as well as application and user requirements. Networks, in return, serve as crucial components in further AIGX capability optimization through the AIGX lifecycle, i.e., data collection, distributed pre-training, and rapid decision-making, thereby establishing a mutually enhancing interplay. Moreover, we offer an in-depth case study focused on power allocation to illustrate the interdependence between AIGX and networking systems. Through this exploration, the article analyzes the significant role of GAI for networking, clarifies the ways networks augment AIGX functionalities, and underscores the virtuous interactive cycle they form. This article paves the way for subsequent future research aimed at fully unlocking the potential of GAI and networks. © 2023, CC BY.

The significant advantage of the quantum homomorphic encryption scheme is to ensure the perfect security of quantum private *** this paper,a novel secure multiparty quantum homomorphic encryption scheme is proposed,which can complete arbitrary quantum computation on the private data of multiple clients without decryption by an almost dishonest ***,each client obtains a secure encryption key through the measurement device independent quantum key distribution protocol and encrypts the private data by using the encryption operator and ***,with the help of the almost dishonest server,the non-maximally entangled states are preshared between the client and the server to correct errors in the homomorphic evaluation of T gates,so as to realize universal quantum circuit evaluation on encrypted ***,from the perspective of the application scenario of secure multi-party computation,this work is based on the probabilistic quantum homomorphic encryption scheme,allowing multiple parties to delegate the server to perform the secure homomorphic *** operation and the permission to access the data performed by the client and the server are clearly pointed ***,a concrete security analysis shows that the proposed multiparty quantum homomorphic encryption scheme can securely resist outside and inside attacks.

Satellite-aerial-ground integrated network (SAGIN) is considered to be an advanced architecture that offers seamless coverage, flexible access, and efficient connectivity. However, several challenges emerge during the construction of SAGINs, which include complex propagation environments and limited spectrum resources. The aforementioned challenges can be addressed in a cost effective manner by integrating simultaneous transmission and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (STAR-RISs). The STAR-RISs are capable of reflecting and transmitting the incident signals passively in order to serve users on both sides of the panel. Given the self-organizing nature of STAR-RIS-aided SAGINs, meticulous resource allocation and transmission strategy adaptation are imperative to accommodate changes in multiple communication node environments. Recently, federated learning has been envisioned as a pioneering distributed machine learning (ML) approach for managing the multi-objective optimization problem in STAR-RIS-aided SAGINs. This approach strives to balance the trade-offs between wireless communication performance and model efficiency. In this work, we present the advantages and potential directions for employing federated learning in STAR-RIS-aided SAGINs through multi-objectives optimization. Furthermore, to illustrate the practical application of federated learning in STAR-RIS-aided SAGINs, we present two case studies utilizing federated deep reinforcement learning, based on the non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) scheme. © 2017 IEEE.

Optimization of the Downlink Spectral- and Energy-Efficiency of RIS-aided Multi-user URLLC MIMO systems

Modern wireless communication systems are expected to provide improved latency and reliability. To meet these expectations, a short packet length is needed, which makes the first-order Shannon rate an inaccurate performance metric for such communication systems. A more accurate approximation of the achievable rates of finite-block-length (FBL) coding regimes is known as the normal approximation (NA). It is therefore of substantial interest to study the optimization of the FBL rate in multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, in which each user may transmit and/or receive multiple data streams. Hence, we formulate a general optimization problem for improving the spectral and energy efficiency of multi-user MIMO-aided ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) systems, which are assisted by reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs). We show that an RIS is capable of substantially improving the performance of multi-user MIMO-aided URLLC systems. Moreover, the benefits of RIS increase as the packet length and/or the tolerable bit error rate are reduced. This reveals that RISs can be even more beneficial in URLLC systems for improving the FBL rates than in conventional systems approaching Shannon rates. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) is a new computing paradigm that enables cloud computing and information technology (IT) services to be delivered at the network’s edge. By shifting the load of cloud computing to individual local servers, MEC helps meet the requirements of ultralow latency, localized data processing, and extends the potential of Internet of Things (IoT) for end-users. However, the crosscutting nature of MEC and the multidisciplinary components necessary for its deployment have presented additional security and privacy concerns. Fortunately, Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms can cope with excessively unpredictable and complex data, which offers a distinct advantage in dealing with sophisticated and developing adversaries in the security industry. Hence, in this paper we comprehensively provide a survey of security and privacy in MEC from the perspective of AI. On the one hand, we use European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) MEC reference architecture as our based framework while merging the Software Defined Network (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) to better illustrate a serviceable platform of MEC. On the other hand, we focus on new security and privacy issues, as well as potential solutions from the viewpoints of AI. Finally, we comprehensively discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with applying AI to MEC security and privacy as possible future research directions. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. We demonstrate a high-coherence parallel integrated light source utilizing a self-injection locked microcomb and injection locking amplification. Our strategy exhibits a record high on-chip gain of 60 dB, nearly 0 dB noise factor, which enable more than 30 highly coherent channels in integrated photonics whose linewidths down to 10 Hz, power exceeding 20 dBm per line and a wall plug efficiency of 19%.

Language-queried target sound extraction (TSE) aims to extract specific sounds from mixtures based on language queries. Traditional fully-supervised training schemes require extensively annotated parallel audio-text data, which are labor-intensive. We introduce a parallel-data-free training scheme, requiring only unlabelled audio clips for TSE model training by utilizing the contrastive language-audio pre-trained model (CLAP). In a vanilla parallel-data-free training stage, target audio is encoded using the pre-trained CLAP audio encoder to form a condition embedding, while during testing, user language queries are encoded by CLAP text encoder as the condition embedding. This vanilla approach assumes perfect alignment between text and audio embeddings, which is unrealistic. Two major challenges arise from training-testing mismatch: the persistent modality gap between text and audio and the risk of overfitting due to the exposure of rich acoustic details in target audio embedding during training. To address this, we propose a retrieval-augmented strategy. Specifically, we create an embedding cache using audio captions generated by a large language model (LLM). During training, target audio embeddings retrieve text embeddings from this cache to use as condition embeddings, ensuring consistent modalities between training and testing and eliminating information leakage. Extensive experiment results show that our retrieval-augmented approach achieves consistent and notable performance improvements over existing state-of-the-art with better generalizability.
