Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have revolutionized various sectors, including remote sensing, surveillance, environmental monitoring, and disaster management. Rapid advancements in wireless communication technologies and situational awareness discovery capabilities present unprecedented opportunities to enhance the intelligence of UAV networks. This review defines UAV network intelligence as the convergence of situational awareness discovery, communication enhancement, and goal-driven intelligent decision-making. Guided by this definition, we explore the key enabling techniques for UAV network situational awareness discovery from UAV states to UAV network environments. To facilitate the awareness discovery, we investigate the integration of advancements in communication technologies, such as massive multiple-input multiple-output, non-orthogonal multiple access, intelligent reflecting surface, and low Earth orbit satellites. Based on the situational awareness and empowered by communication enhancement technologies, we emphasize the overall objective of UAV network intelligence: maximizing the value of goal-driven UAV network operations. This is achieved by exploring recent research efforts in three categories, including 1) iterative optimization methods, 2) learning-based methods, and 3) heuristic methods. Finally, we discuss challenges and future research directions, contributing to the development of more resilient and adaptive UAV network solutions in increasingly complex and dynamic environments. © 2019 IEEE.

Finite-control-set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) is an effective approach for controlling modern power electronics. The three-level sparse neutral point clamped inverter (3L-SNPCI) fulfills the task of converting DC power into the desired three-phase AC power in high-renewable-penetration power systems. The stable and economic operation of the 3L-SNPCI is crucial to the security and reliability of renewable energy grid connection. Controlling of 3L-SNPCI is quite challenging, due to the strong nonlinearity and the discrete feasible region caused by the finite control set. In this paper, a stable economic model predictive control scheme is developed to achieve the key tasks of current tracking, neutral point voltage balance, and inverter economic performance by directly incorporating the economic indices into the controller design. The non-convex optimization problem caused by the inverter nonlinearity is transformed into a convex one with linear inequality constraints by employing the Big-M method. The bounded stability is indirectly guaranteed with the dynamic of the inverter control system approximating that of a stabilized continuous linear time-invariant system sharing the same parameters. Simulation and experiment concerning both the steady-state and transient-state conditions with different disturbance are presented to show the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed controller. © 2025

In recent years, research has illuminated the potency of implicit data processing in enhancing user preferences. Nevertheless, barriers remain in breaking through the constraints of implicit information. This study aims to bridge this gap by firstly constructing a triangular stable node network model, tailored to manage implicit information with precision. Recognizing the challenge of pinpointing novel structures within large-scale graphs, we propose SLTSNN-a triangular stable node network based on self-supervised learning for personalized prediction. SLTSNN innovates by maximizing mutual information between graph-level and patch-level representations, while augmenting graph representations through extended enhanced representations. Additionally, it incorporates triangular data associations and introduces a triangular allocation attention network, which emphasizes strongly correlated preference features among similar users. Furthermore, SLTSNN employs contrastive learning to maximize mutual information between graph vectors and hidden representations, distinguishing between high-order global and local representations. The model's effectiveness in enhancing user preferences and capturing new graph structures is evidenced by its performance on hit rate and normalized discounted cumulative gain metrics across three datasets. © 2025 IEEE.

Deep-time Earth research plays a pivotal role in deciphering the rates, patterns, and mechanisms of Earth's evolutionary processes throughout geological history, providing essential scientific foundations for climate prediction, natural resource exploration, and sustainable planetary stewardship. To advance Deep-time Earth research in the era of big data and artificial intelligence, the International Union of Geological Sciences initiated the “Deeptime digital Earth International Big Science Program”(DDE) in 2019. At the core of this ambitious program lies the development of geoscience knowledge graphs, serving as a transformative knowledge infrastructure that enables the integration, sharing, mining, and analysis of heterogeneous geoscience big data. The DDE knowledge graph initiative has made significant strides in three critical dimensions:(1) establishing a unified knowledge structure across geoscience disciplines that ensures consistent representation of geological entities and their interrelationships through standardized ontologies and semantic frameworks;(2) developing a robust and scalable software infrastructure capable of supporting both expert-driven and machine-assisted knowledge engineering for large-scale graph construction and management;(3) implementing a comprehensive three-tiered architecture encompassing basic, discipline-specific, and application-oriented knowledge graphs, spanning approximately 20 geoscience disciplines. Through its open knowledge framework and international collaborative network, this initiative has fostered multinational research collaborations, establishing a robust foundation for next-generation geoscience research while propelling the discipline toward FAIR(Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data practices in deep-time Earth systems research.

Objective: Patients with primary orthostatic tremor (OT) are affected by a strong feeling of instability. Our aim was to investigate whether cortical response to proprioceptive information is altered in OT compared with healthy control subjects (HC) using magnetoencephalography (MEG). Methods: Fifteen OT patients and 15 HCs were examined using whole-head MEG. Proprioceptive stimulation was evoked by passive movements of the right index finger and right foot. Time-frequency responses were extracted in the frequency range of 8–30 Hz. The MEG sensor with the highest amplitude change time-locked to the proprioceptive stimulus was used to calculate the amplitude of event-related desynchronization (ERD) and subsequent event-related re-synchronization (ERS). Results: Finger stimulation induced reliable ERD and ERS, as expected, in both OT patients and HC. Foot stimulation induced weaker ERS in both groups. Cluster-based permutation tests did not reveal any significant differences between the OT and HC groups. Discussion: We did not find evidence supporting a generally altered cortical response to proprioceptive stimulation in patients with OT. Significance: This is the first study on proprioceptive cortical processing in OT. The results do not support the interpretation that the characteristic intense feeling of instability in OT is linked to altered cortical response to proprioceptive information. © 2025 The Author(s)

Federated learning (FL) is a promising artificial intelligence framework that enables clients to collectively train models with data privacy. However, in real-world scenarios, to construct practical FL frameworks, several challenges have to be addressed, including statistical heterogeneity, constrained resources, and fairness. Therefore, we first investigate an aggregation gap caused by statistical heterogeneity during local model initialization, which not only causes additional computational overhead for clients but also leads to the degradation of fairness. To bridge this gap, we propose pFedCal, a novel personalized federated learning with lightweight adaptive calibration strategy that performs calibration compensation through the prior knowledge of clients. Specifically, we introduce compensation for each client at the model initialization, with the compensation derived from the global gradient and the latest gradient bias. To enhance the calibration effect, we introduce a smoothing-based calibration strategy, and we design an adaptive calibration strategy. A representative example demonstrates that the proposed calibration and smoothing strategies improve fairness for clients. The theoretical analysis indicates that with an appropriate learning rate, pFedCal converges to a first-order stationary point for non-convex loss functions. Comprehensive experimental results show that pFedCal achieves faster convergence, higher accuracy, and improved fairness than the state-of-the-art methods. © 2008-2012 IEEE.

Big-data-driven vessel destination prediction for smart port management

The accurate prediction of vessel destinations is crucial for enhancing maritime traffic efficiency, optimizing port management, and improving regional economic analysis. However, destination information in Automatic Identification system (AIS) data is often missing or inaccurate, which undermines the reliability of maritime analytic. Traditional vessel destination prediction methods primarily focus on measuring trajectory similarities, which results in high computational complexity. This study develops a deep learning approach to vessel destination prediction by transforming the problem into an image classification task. Rasterized images of historical destination ports and vessel trajectories are generated, incorporating AIS data within a fixed spatial context. A multi-scale residual convolutional network is constructed to extract relevant trajectory and port distribution features. To enhance the representation of trajectory endpoints, which are critical for predicting the destination port, a multi-attention mechanism is introduced. This mechanism increases the learning weight assigned to endpoint features, improving prediction accuracy. Finally, a classification network predicts the destination port based on the extracted features. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated using AIS data from the Denmark Strait. Experimental results demonstrate that the model outperforms existing methods, highlighting its potential for applications in smart port management and maritime traffic optimization. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

AdvSwap: Covert Adversarial Perturbation with High Frequency Info-swapping for Autonomous Driving Perception

Perception module of Autonomous vehicles (AVs) are increasingly susceptible to be attacked, which exploit vulnerabilities in neural networks through adversarial inputs, thereby compromising the AI safety. Some researches focus on creating covert adversarial samples, but existing global noise techniques are detectable and difficult to deceive the human visual system. This paper introduces a novel adversarial attack method, AdvSwap, which creatively utilizes wavelet-based high-frequency information swapping to generate covert adversarial samples and fool the camera. AdvSwap employs invertible neural network for selective high-frequency information swapping, preserving both forward propagation and data integrity. The scheme effectively removes the original label data and incorporates the guidance image data, producing concealed and robust adversarial samples. Experimental evaluations and comparisons on the GTSRB and nuScenes datasets demonstrate that AdvSwap can make concealed attacks on common traffic targets. The generates adversarial samples are also difficult to perceive by humans and algorithms. Meanwhile, the method has strong attacking robustness and attacking transferability. © 2025, CC BY-NC-ND.

DDPS: Dynamic Differential Pricing-Based Edge Offloading system With Energy Harvesting Devices

Mobile edge computing (MEC) mitigates the energy and computation burdens on mobile users (MUs) by offloading tasks to the network edge. To optimize MEC server utilization through effective resource allocation, a well-designed pricing strategy is indispensable. In this paper, we propose a dynamic differential pricing scheme (DDPS) for an edge offloading scenario with energy harvesting devices, which determines prices based on computing resource usage to enhance edge server (ES) utilization. First, an offloading decision algorithm is proposed to balance harvested and consumed energy, determining whether and how much data to offload. Second, a Stackelberg game-based differential pricing algorithm is proposed to optimize computing resource allocation for MUs and reallocate surplus resources to delay-sensitive devices. Extensive simulations are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed DDPS scheme. Specifically, in comparison to the existing best-performing pricing scheme, for different task arrival rates, DDPS can achieve a 5.3% decrease in average execution delay, a 1.7% increase in ES utility (Userver, which represents the payment from MUs minus penalties for discarded tasks), and a 2.1% increase in the average ratio of service for MUs. In addition, DDPS also improves 2.8% Userver on average with different ES computation capacities. © 2025 IEEE. All rights reserved.

On-the-Fly Improving Segment Anything for Medical Image Segmentation using Auxiliary Online Learning

The current variants of the Segment Anything Model (SAM), which include the original SAM and Medical SAM, still lack the capability to produce sufficiently accurate segmentation for medical images. In medical imaging contexts, it is not uncommon for human experts to rectify segmentations of specific test samples after SAM generates its segmentation predictions. These rectifications typically entail manual or semi-manual corrections employing state-of-the-art annotation tools. Motivated by this process, we introduce a novel approach that leverages the advantages of online machine learning to enhance Segment Anything (SA) during test time. We employ rectified annotations to perform online learning, with the aim of improving the segmentation quality of SA on medical images. To ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of online learning when integrated with large-scale vision models like SAM, we propose a new method called Auxiliary Online Learning (AuxOL), which entails adaptive online-batch and adaptive segmentation fusion. Experiments conducted on eight datasets covering four medical imaging modalities validate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Our work proposes and validates a new, practical, and effective approach for enhancing SA on downstream segmentation tasks (e.g., medical image segmentation).
